All eyes are on me whenever I'm flying high above the sky, They call me The Baron, Carmine Barone is the name... Stunt aviation is my game!  I'm looking for a GM who can build a flashy in your face football team that gets as much attention as I do when I'm out there in my planes..

Are you the one for the job?  Step right up, you're cleared for take off!

Mr. Barone, thanks for the taking time to speak with me. I'm GM Strike Guy, it's been a while since I've taken flight in the HIFL myself and there is something about your initial pitch that has me quite curious to take this interview.

I'm open to any questions that you have.

That Strike Guy! I used to listen to your podcasts when I was flying over the Pacific Coast for the big air shows out that way...

I want a flashy team, high scores, big highlight plays, splash moves at the trade deadline and in the off season... I want people to be TALKING about the Milwaukee Barons' and asking what we will do next..

I want big stats, record breaking moments.. I just want flash and pizzazz.   I want to win of course, but what is winning if nobody cares because its a 10-3 victory with 100 punts?

Is this something you can handle?
Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on December 13, 2017, 11:09:18 AM
I believe it is something that I can handle and quite frankly, something that can generate a lot of buzz and do so in a quick manner for the city. It’s one thing to be considered an expansion team and people expect growing pains but I do think we can be competitive and exciting right off the gate with the proper moves.

I like the way you think kid.. Tell me something, if you had EVERY player in the HIFL at your disposal in a draft, who would you pick with your first choice?
Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on December 13, 2017, 02:00:34 PM
If we’re talking past and present, hypothetically? Jose Mackey. Now there’s a guy that could do just about everything on offense, do it effectively and do it with style!

I'm saying that if every current player was in the pool, not retired guys.  I'm curious who you'd build your team around today, if we could get any player we wanted.
Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on December 13, 2017, 04:43:39 PM
Ah, I misunderstood. In that case, I’d go for somebody I was incredibly impressed watching during my time in Lincoln and that would be Jeremy Martin of the Rapid City Inferno. Skills, intangibles and as of recent, championship experience? Couldn’t ask for a better piece to build around on the offense.

Guys in that position have some of the toughest work in football...hard not to respect it. Even more so when some of them do the impressive things they do.

I'd love to come on board, sir. Thank you for the opportunity.

Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS

First off, ouch. That's unfortunate to hear on the plane crash.

That said, let's get Coach Garry Fedora from North Carolina on the line.

---------------------------------

Coach Fedora. GM Strike Guy here, sir. Congratulations on the success you had this year with the Tar Heels. If you have a few moments, I'm starting the interview process for our head coaching position here in Milwaukee with the HIFL next season and wanted to ask you a couple of questions. If you have some time, I'd like to start off by knowing what kind of offense you like to run and your coaching philosophy as a whole.

Well we run a pure spread offense!  single back, 3 WR, TE... VERY FAST pace... Shotgun, Under center, tempo tempo tempo, always looking to get the ball down field in a hurry!  3-3-5 defense to play fast and versatile without having to have a lot of sub packages, just let the boys go play ball.

Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on December 17, 2017, 12:37:57 AM
The kind of offense that's both exciting to watch as well as effective with the right personnel. I getcha on that. How many years have you been doing this at the college level, Coach? And during your time coaching, what accomplishment would you say is the one you are most proud of?

Hey dude.  Dad asked me to give you all of the following information.

- Once the Expansion Draft goes live we're expected to make some flashy moves...

- We will have $7MM in PR for film study, $4MM for the Combine, and $2MM for combine interviews and stuff... use it wisely.

- You know we have to hire coaches...

- Remember that our scouting direction is also the head coach of our Minor League affiliate, so hire well.

I've been coaching college ball as a head coach for about 7 years, started out in DII, then got the gig at Carolina about 4 years ago.. My biggest achievement came this year, getting the team to the ACC Championship winners circle and then into the college football playoff..
Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on December 18, 2017, 03:10:07 PM
Definitely a hell of an accomplishment. Now, the team we are looking to build here is one that is flashy in its offense and able to score points. My next question to you is this one, Coach. If we could get any player we wanted in the present HIFL to build an offense around, who would it be and why?

I see. One final question, Coach - when it comes to your staff, outside of coordinators that would fit within the schemes you like to run, do you have a particular preference out there as to who comes onboard with you or no preference whatsoever?

I appreciate your time, Coach. I still have some interviews to conduct but we’ll be in touch.

————————————

Carmine, let’s get Coach Kelly Spuds on the line.

————————————

Coach Spuds, GM Strike Guy here in Milwaukee. Congratulations on the national championship. I wanted to see if you had a few minutes to interview for the position of head coach here with us. If you have the time, I’d like to start off by knowing a little bit more about the spread offense system that you use, what positions you emphasize the most and your overall philosophy with coaching.

Hey there GM Strike Guy! Now Sorry I can't video call with you right now but it's been busy since winning the championship!

My offense is complex.. a lot of moving parts a lot of motion, and a lot of tempo.  Very fast, Very fast, VERY Fast.  I like to rotate a healthy crop of receivers out there, the running back isn't a big weapon on my team outside of working as a pass catcher when we need a checkdown, hell I'd pass every play if they let me!

I want to light up the scoreboards until they run out of digits.

With the media and all else, I don’t blame you one bit and the audio works just fine. To cut to the chase, got kind of offense is the style we are looking to run here in Milwaukee - flashy, high tempo and scoring at any given opportunity. We’ve talked offense but what about your style defensively - do you have any particulars you like to do on that end or was that something you defer to whoever your defensive coordinators have been over the years, Coach?

I don't have a favorite defense, I'll let the DC handle that business and trust him with making it work. I'm not ignorant to defense, but I just do a lot of work in the offense and need to work closely with it.

I hear ya Coach. Hey, I know you’ve still got a bit of business to handle on your end and I’m still finishing up interviews here but I’d like to thank you for your time. We will be in touch.

——————

Carmine, let’s do something different. Get me Maxx Vol on the line.

Mr. Vol, GM Strike Guy. Let’s talk turkey. You’re the best scout in the game right now. I need the best scout in the game. 1 year, 3 million to make it happen?

——————

Hello again Coach, there’s one more thing that I’d like to ask prior to making a decision here. With you having just won a National Championship, is there an interest to make the leap to the pros or do you see yourself still looking to defend the throne in the college ranks?

This makes things easier, then. As a means of testing the waters together and seeing what kind of offense we can use to bring the kind of offense that makes "Scorched Earth" look like a nice hot spring...would you be interested in a 2 year, 9 million deal, Coach Spuds?

Got you a hell of a receiver to get things started too, Coach. See you out here in Milwaukee soon.

-----------------------------

Carmine...let's get good old Jay C on the line.

-----------------------------

Jay, it has been a long time. Let's talk cheddar. Michael Hodge is somebody we want in the blue and orange next season making the kinds of catches he's known for and getting into that end zone. We'd like to sign him to 3 years, 11.5 MM and 2.5 MM in PR to promote him accordingly. What do you think?

Signed, sealed and delivered. I can dig that, Jay. Good seeing you again and looking forward to more of it.

————————

Carmine, let’s get Anthony Campanelli on the line.

————————

Mr. Campanelli, it has been a long time. Let’s talk cheddar on Domingo Smith. To start off, I’m thinking 3 years, 6 million?

GM Strikeguy, Welcome back... now listen, Domingo was happy in DC and kinda' hates leavin' the joint.. so because of this major inconvenience, he's going to be looking for 8.5MM per season, Capisce?

Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on December 19, 2017, 08:42:24 PM
The unfortunate nature of expansion, it seems. That said, I don't mind taking care of him for his inconvenience. We'll shake on it, Anthony. Thank you.

--------------------------------

Carmine, before we get back to our guys being taken in the expansion, let's get a hold of Jackie Andrews, the defensive coordinator over in Florida.

---------------------------------

Coach Andrews, GM Strike Guy in Milwaukee. I wanted to see if you had some time to talk about the defensive coordinator position here with the Barons. I know that the description that comes to mind when it comes to the kind of defensive your Gators have played is "utterly aggressive," but tell me a little bit more about the schemes you like to use and what your philosophy is as a coach.

Well I really am comfortable in any defensive scheme. I ran a hybrid system at Florida, and I've played in just about every system out there, so I really can tailor my defense to the talent on my roster.

This particular season, you guys had some stellar games all around and others where you bent but didn't break. Most people ask about coaches and their strengths, but what do you believe to be your biggest area of opportunity as a Coach and how do you believe you can improve on that particular aspect of your coaching?

I see. I appreciate your time, Coach. I have another name on my list here to interview, but we will be in touch.

------------------------------

Carmine, please get me DC Anthony Stevens on the line, over in Baylor.

-------------------------------

Coach Stevens, GM Strike Guy? Still coaching your men that you play to win the game, I assume? Listen, I am interviewing for our defensive coordinator spot and wanted to see if you would possibly be a fit. You've had your time coaching all over on both the pro level and the college level, including your recent stint with Baylor...is a return to the HIFL something that would interest you? And if so, with an expansion franchise like this one, what do you believe are some of your strengths that you could help bring to whatever defense we are to build here?

Hey there man. YES you know I am looking to get back into the HIFL coaching gambit.  That's the goal. Always the goal.  Top to bottom, bottom to top, you play to win the game... you coach to win the game at the HIGHEST level.  Period.

All day.

So now talking about what I bring to an expansion team?  Experience.  Stability.  No-Nonsense approach. A WINNING attitude.  That's what I bring.

--------------------------

Carmine, one more coaching spot to fill. So, let's get Coach Danny Ball from UCLA on the line.

Hello Coach, GM Strike Guy with the Milwaukee Barons. We are looking to fill in our offensive coordinator position and I'd like to ask in regards of your coaching experience altogether plus the offensive philosophy and approach to the spread that you have run during your time there in UCLA.

------------------------------

Carmine, let's get Peter Jingle on the line.

------------------------------

Coach Jingle, GM Strike Guy here in Milwaukee. To put it simply, we're looking for an offensive coordinator that is able to run an exciting, fast-paced tempo offense and we're looking to build the pieces around that with some of what we've done in the expansion draft plus the amateur draft that's coming and free agency. Do you believe you could work within those parameters and if so, I'd be happy to discuss a contract with you.

------------------------------------

Carmine, let's get Coach David Beasley on the line.

Coach Beasley, GM Strike Guy in Milwaukee. Doing interviews for the assistant coach position here and I know you had some success dipping your feet over in Orlando last season. We are going to be looking to run a fast paced, passing offense and in turn, we're going to need our wide receivers to be at their best. What qualities do you believe are the most important when it comes to the wide receiver position, Coach?

Man, if you remember my playing days... That Beasley Bop was a hit.  I work on improving agility, hands, and of course, the touchdown dance.

Yeah, I remember when the Bop took the entire league by store.

But those are definitely some qualities we want to bring to the table here, so that said, we'd be happy to bring you on board. Does 2 years, 1.5MM suit you for a contract, Coach?

Haaa!!!! Now here we go!  A man who knows how a Big Baller is supposed to be treated!

Now, I don't ever need no stunt like this being pulled for my boy again, Big Baller's are informed when things are going on, so we want our contract upgraded!  I'm talking Full No Trade Clause and an extra 1MM in PR for this year to recoup the money we already spent making the first ever "SJAX11" Big Baller Brand Sneaker and Cleat in Custom Long Beach Mermen colors... they ain't gone' sell now, so we need to cover the cash to get the SJAX back in production in these big baller's colors!

I’m surprised that GM Black Death wasn’t so kind as to let you know of the ongoing proceedings. Nevertheless, the same years and contract money with the no trade clause and the extra 1MM in PR, then? That’s something I can do without any issue.

PR CAMPAIGNS:

QB Robert Marshall - 2MM PR
Call Sign: Maverick

• 750K: [Commercial: “Maverick”]

Throughout his college career, Robert Marshall hasn’t been the norm for QB’s across the country. As the highlight reel isshown of not only his abilities to get the ball up in the air and onto the hands of his receivers but also of his lightning-quick speed juking and rushing past defenders in order to gain yards, we also see pieces from major news outlets about the possibility of Marshall having to change positions in the HIFL in order to adapt to the pro game, that his style of play is too “reckless” or “dangerous” to survive in a league where it is the best of the best against one another. However, this is where “Mighty Wings” by Cheap Trick begins to play out on the background as footage of his multiple touchdowns through the air and on the ground soon follow in quick succession, showcasing that Robert Marshall isn’t one for the norm nor one to conform to the standard rules of engagement...that he is every bit of a “Maverick” in his unorthodox, unique approach to the game of football and that with his approach under center, it will take the Barons to greater and greater heights. The closing shots showcase Robert Marshall holding up the NCAA National Championship trophy high up in the air in triumph, the image slowly fading to black.

• 1MM: [Web Series: “Being The Elite”]

As a means to feature the historic first round rookies who were selected or traded for by the Milwaukee Barons, this web series will see itself focusing on QB Robert Marshall, WR Steven Jackson, WR James Booth, RB Forest Walker and T Frank Beale as the young men journey into their first HIFL season, detailing the process from their selection in the draft, how they came to be Milwaukee Barons and it will also detail the entirety of their season and their interactions with friends, family and perhaps even rivals on the field. For QB Robert Marshall, the focus specifically during the season will be in the adventures that he and best friend/roommate WR James Booth get themselves into alongside the new role of leadership he is taking on alongside a familiar head coach. The overall cost of this team effort campaign will be spread amongst four of its featured players in order to cover for any camera footage, editing, music made exclusively for the show, etc.

• 250K: “March with the Marshall” - a 5K Run/Walk that Robert Marshall will attend and help host, organized to start and end at the newly constructed Milwaukee Barons stadium, where each person participating in it will gain a commemorative t-shirt, an opportunity to enter a raffle to win various Lincoln Pride memorabilia right after the 5K Run/Walk event inside of the stadium and the ability to redeem a coupon in their 5K Run/Walk bib for two complimentary, “best available” Milwaukee Barons home game tickets in Season 10 or 11.

WR Steven Jackson - 4MM PR
Call Sign: Hollywood

• 1.75MM: This bit of money will be allocated into the reproduction of the "SJAX11" Big Baller Brand Sneakers, except in Milwaukee Barons colors. The money will be used to also ensure quality and quantity within the product in order to have them in shelves and ready for sale at home games in the various merchandise stores in the stadium at their regular pricing alongside an exclusive “Big Baller Brand” store that will be inside of The Flight Deck for the course of the season for any sale of Big Baller Brand t-shirts, wristbands and any other BBB gear.

• 1MM: [Commercial: “The Big Baller”]

We start with the usual scenery shots from Los Angeles and its surrounding areas, including a shot of the Hollywood sign before moving to game highlights of Steven Jackson’s time as a UCLA Bruin, making unbelievable catches alongside showing his own speed and strength by either blazing past through or bulldozing through opposing defenses in order to find the yards and finding the end zone.

Narrator: “Being a Big Baller isn't just a slogan or some brand, it’s a way of life!”

Another couple of shots follow suit showing Steven Jackson on the red carpet along with his family, signing autographs for fans prior to UCLA games, hanging out and laughing with friends and family while walking around in Hollywood and most importantly, shots of Steven going hard in the gym and in practices.

Narrator: “Being a Big Baller means you look to the future...and if we too ‘Hollywood’ for y’all now, then y’all can just deal with it. Because we ain’t going nowhere!”

The shots now shift to more of Steven Jackson’s incredible feats in college with his catches, touchdowns, any TD celebrations with his teammates and even a particular trick play where he throws the ball accurately to a receiver and said receiver takes it to the house for a touchdown.

]Narrator: “Steven Jackson is already in a class of his own. And this year, he’s gonna show all of you that. Because Big Ballers don’t just settle for second-best, Big Ballers ARE the trendsetters. Big Ballers ARE the future!”

A quicker, fast-paced set of highlights here before the screen fades to black and we see Steven Jackson standing front and center, a spotlight shining down on him, as he slowly lifts his head up.

Narrator: “And Steven Jackson is gonna show you all this season...he’ll show you all who the REAL Big Baller is!”

The screen fades to black, but not before the Big Baller Brand logo pops up.

For WR Steven Jackson, the focus specifically during the season will be on his dealings with newly found fame alongside many appearances from LaVar Jackson and the rest of his family, alongside any other promotions for the Big Baller Brand during his segments. The overall cost of this team effort campaign will be spread amongst four of its featured players in order to cover for any camera footage, editing, music made exclusively for the show, etc.

• 250K: Bobbleheads with Steven Jackson’s likeness in the option of either his Milwaukee Barons jersey and gear + the Big Baller Brand insignia or in a flight suit with the “Hollywood” call sign on it will be given to the first 20,000 fans at The Flight Deck on the Week 4 home game.

WR James Booth - 1MM PR
Call Sign: Iceman

• 500K - [Web Series: “Being The Elite”]

As a means to feature the historic first round rookies who were selected or traded for by the Milwaukee Barons, this web series will see itself focusing on QB Robert Marshall, WR Steven Jackson, WR James Booth, RB Forest Walker and T Frank Beale as the young men journey into their first HIFL season, detailing the process from their selection in the draft, how they came to be Milwaukee Barons and it will also detail the entirety of their season and their interactions with friends, family and perhaps even rivals on the field. For WR James Booth, the focus specifically during the season will be in the adventures that he and best friend/roommate QB Robert Marshall get themselves into alongside other things such as Booth’s own meticulous care for his amazing beard. The overall cost of this team effort campaign will be spread amongst four of its featured players in order to cover for any camera footage, editing, music made exclusively for the show, etc.

• 250K: Billboards + radio commercials where James Booth will be featured front and center in order to portray/promote the “Iceman” callsign - the radio commercials including Booth telling the fans that “they can be his wingman anytime that they come to watch the Barons play.”  There will also be a commemorative “The Iceman Cometh” t-shirt featuring a design with James Booth’s famous beard that will be given out to the first 10,000 fans at The Flight Deck during Week 6’s home game.

• 250K: Promotion partnering up with “Purple Door Ice Cream” for the “Iceman Ice Cream Social” during the mid-season portion where James Booth will be amongst members of the community to partake in ice cream, music, laughs, signing autographs and in which funds will also go towards local charities in the Milwaukee area.

WR Mark Bello - 1MM PR
Call Sign: Wolfman

•  500K:  [Commercial: “Wolfman Wingman”]

This is a shorter commercial where wide receivers Mark Bello, Loren Isaacs, James Booth, Steven Jackson and Daniel Han are interacting with one another at dinner after practice, talking about the season to come and they look over at Mark Bello, noticing his hair has grown significantly and that he is clean shaven for the season. They ask him what inspired the change and Mark explains along with the fact Booth has quite a beard of his own, that it’s time for him to also take the next step forward in his career and that a new look is meant to inspire a new man, as he sees his new wide receiver corps and sees an opportunity to be the mentor figure and the “wingman” they all deserve.

Throughout the commercial, we show Mark Bello living up to that mark as he assists his fellow wide receivers with route running routines, explaining film study, doing laundry even and showcasing smooth talking and dancing abilities in one segment at a bar when all of the wide receivers are out and about having a good time before we go to game highlights showing Bello making key blocks from teammates as they’re rushing down the field or making tough catches of his own, displaying that the “Wolfman” is indeed, the best wingman the Milwaukee Barons could ask for.

•  250K: One-year partnership as being the spokesperson for Lyle Husar Designs, considered to be “Wisconsin's #1 Recommended Jeweler™.” This partnership will feature Mark Bello doing quick TV and radio commercials advertising them and the partnership will also allow a lucky, randomly selected couple to win a diamond ring or necklace at a future Barons home game during halftime.

• 250K: “The Wolfman” - various advertisements strategically put together throughout the city of Milwaukee (and more so within the neighborhood of where The Flight Deck is) with Mark Bello’s face on an old-fashioned movie poster labeled “The Wolfman” with credits showcasing him and rest of the high-octane receiving corps of the Milwaukee Barons

RB Cleo Rickard - 1MM PR
Call Sign: Merlin

• 1MM: [Commercial: “The Greatest Showman”]

The commercial starts within the inside of an interview/media room that has a large Milwaukee Barons poster on the background, as various people begin to be interviewed and all of them happen to be famous magicians - from real ones such as David Copperfield, David Blaine and Criss Angel to even fictional ones like Glinda the Good Witch, Harry Dresden, Gandalf the Gray and even Merlin...all of them talking about certain things such as:

“Out of all the tricks I have seen and done, nothing compares to what this guy can do...”
“He has a gift...unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.”
“When he steps foot onto that field, there’s many things that normal people can’t control and yet...he magically finds his way out of each and everyone of them.”
“He’s so good at what he does, I don’t even mind if he has the same name as me.”

With each of those sentences, “The Greatest Show” from The Greatest Showman movie begins to play and highlights are shown of Cleo Rickard taking to the field and the amount of amazing plays he has made over the years with his speed to get to the outside, his ability to seemingly weave through and fight off tackles to get extra yards on his agility alone, his sense for being able to make key catches when teams like Oakland and New Jersey needed him the most and we even see footage of Cleo Rickard in his daily life doing things like snapping his fingers to make a fire suddenly appear at his fireplace or a wave of his hand causing previously open counters to close shut to a stomp of his foot on the football field being enough to freeze a defender in his tracks prior to Cleo rushing through it. The highlights and their intensity reach a crescendo, as Cleo Rickard rushes for a touchdown and holds the football up high, a spotlight suddenly shining down on him and a close-up of his face being seen, a smile on his face as he is advertised as “The Greatest Showman” to ever take it to the field in Milwaukee and in the HIFL.

RB Forest Walker - 500K PR
Call Sign: Sundown

• 250K - [Web Series: “Being The Elite”]

As a means to feature the historic first round rookies who were selected or traded for by the Milwaukee Barons, this web series will see itself focusing on QB Robert Marshall, WR Steven Jackson, WR James Booth, RB Forest Walker and T Frank Beale as the young men journey into their first HIFL season, detailing the process from their selection in the draft, how they came to be Milwaukee Barons and it will also detail the entirety of their season and their interactions with friends, family and perhaps even rivals on the field. For RB Forest Walker, the focus will be on his transition into the pros alongside the many roles he takes on as a running back, kick & punt returner along with a closer look into his daily ongoings. The overall cost of this team effort campaign will be spread amongst four of its featured players in order to cover for any camera footage, editing, music made exclusively for the show, etc.

• 250K: Billboards, posters and radio commercials advertising the “Sundown Smackdown!” that any and all opponents will end up on the receiving end of any time that Forest Walker has the ball in his hands, with the potential to take it to the house on every single occasion.

LB Ben Pipkin - 1MM PR
Call Sign: Viper

• 750K: [Commercial: “Ben Pipkin: Office Linebacker”]

The commercial starts in an office building somewhere in downtown Milwaukee where an office worker finishes pouring coffee, completely ignoring the sign to make a new pot if you finish the previous one...but as said office worker walks away from the scene grinning and tries to drink his coffee, he is then suddenly tackled viciously into the ground as Ben Pipkin pops up, screaming at said worker he knows the rules and to make some more coffee the next time...or else.

We then go to the office’s CEO of one “Stahl & Sons Productions,” who proceeds to explain how people thought he was crazy in hiring an “office linebacker” but that ever since Ben Pipkin took on the job to prepare for his upcoming season with the Barons, productivity in the office has increased by 40%.

We then show more clips of Ben Pipkin tackling people who are not doing their work in the office or taking extended breaks to dragging them across a counter past pencils, potted plants, etc to even giving somebody an overhead belly-to-belly onto a wall when they tried to run away due to not sending their TPS reports correctly. Then we go to another shot where Ben Pipkin is actually fitting in properly with the office workers as well, wishing somebody a happy birthday to even giving a business presentation on why season tickets for the Barons have sold as highly as they have compared to other teams in the league.

We then wrap up said commercial with a huge tackle from Ben Pipkin on an man within the office wearing a Cleveland Mustangs jersey over his collared shirt, screaming at him that nobody here likes Cleveland or their ownership before tearing the jersey off the man’s body himself and walking off as we fade to black with the words “Ben Pipkin: Office Linebacker” appear.

• 250K: Snapchat/Twitter/Facebook campaign with meaning to go viral as Ben Pipkin’s body is inserted in old Vines or memes with pro wrestling commentary behind them as Pipkin ends up “tackling” people and such after careful manipulation as a means to emphasize that he lives up to the callsign of “Viper” and can catch unsuspecting players on the field “from out of nowhere” in the process.

TEAM WIDE PR: TOP GUN NIGHT - 1MM

“This EXCITING night at “The Flight Deck” for the Milwaukee Barons’ home opener will also include “Top Gun” décor, 80s music, and contests centered on the movie alongside a free “Top Gun” movie viewing at the JumboTron after the game. All season ticket holders will be provided with their personal flight suits with a call sign of their choice (no profanity allowed, however) - sign-up information will be provided to season ticket holders to order the appropriate size of flight suit and write in their call sign.

Non-season ticket holder fans born in 1986 can receive a free $50 food & drink coupon voucher to the game by singing “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” at the box office. Also, in honor of LTJG Nick “Goose” Bradshaw’s backup career, truck drivers can receive a free reserved seat ticket to the game with proof of employment. All members of the military will also receive a complimentary ticket for a future Milwaukee Barons home game and VIP parking pass with military ID presentation at box office.”

• 500K - Eddie Van Halen will play the “Top Gun Anthem” live to go along with the opening hype video before the players take the field
• 250K - Securing and locking all music copyrights from Top Gun’s soundtrack in order to use it for the course of the season in promotional events, games, etc. (because nobody wants to get sued)
• 250K - Covering the costs for promotion - the decor, music, games & contests, flight suits, comp tickets, the works, all as described above.

MUSIC:

“Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yK0P1Bk8Cx4)
- This song will play prior to kickoff as the Barons come out of the tunnel to pre-game introductions along with small excerpts from it playing after a touchdown.

“Mighty Wings” by Cheap Trick (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8OdyAq7sfk)
- This song will play during any key situations during the late portion of the 4th quarter in order to hype up the crowd and also after any Milwaukee Barons home victory.

A primetime game during Top Gun night, the boys already making training camp highlights and some very bright spots to look forward to.

It feels pretty good to be back, Carmine. Let's call up Coach Spuds if he's got a moment. Thank you.

-----------------------------

Coach, thank you for the details coming out of training camp and the hard work you guys did. I did have one particular question when overlooking the captains...in regards of Ronnie Andrade, is that rating given something more to do with his personality being a little less vocal and preferring to just play or something else entirely?

He just isn't a leader.  He doesn't want to be the one asked to give speeches or rally the troops, he just goes out and does his job and gets on with it.  He's quite, he's not a social guy, he doesn't really like to hang out with the boys, he's a loner.

I see, that makes sense and it's a lot less troublesome than somebody like Noah Rose over in Michigan. At the same time, I also feel it'd be in bad form to just suddenly take that alternate off of him and assign it to somebody else. We'll see how the season plays out on that.

Otherwise, things seem to be looking pretty good for a first-year team entering the fold. I have you and the rest of the coaching staff to thank for that, especially given all the stuff that went on during the offseason. So, thank you.

Good luck out there, Coach.

1. Talk about your off-season, what did you like, what did you not like?

It's nice to finally be back in the HIFL as a whole and getting things going. I felt our offseason was definitely all about making the necessary moves to secure our high-octane offense through the amateur draft and that's something I couldn't have done without the help of our coaching staff, so major props to them. We also put together what I believe is going to be the most awesome Opening Night game at home the HIFL has ever seen come Week 3 and I'm incredibly excited for that. But looking back onto the offseason, I do believe that I could have done a better job trying to go after some bigger targets in free agency, especially on the defensive side of the ball. I know it's been a point critics have already brought up in previews of the regular season. That said, as a whole, I think we are starting to put together the necessary pieces for a team that will have success in the long-term and be here to stay in the HIFL for a long time.

2. How much stock do you put into your teams preseason performance?

With preseason, there's always the factor where you are resting players or testing out the ones in your bench and I get that. But for a new team like ours, to be able to put on the performances that we did and get reps against something other than the scout team is very important. It's not a scenario of what will come, but it's good preparation for what we need to do in order to be successful and I felt our guys responded well on both sides of the ball when it was needed.

3. What did you gather from your preseason games?

The biggest thing I'm proud of is that we responded when it mattered most, regardless of any errors done prior to the end of the game. In the Lincoln game, the Pride found a way to keep our offense from getting points, so our defense found a way to step up and that was highlighted by Wilhelm Hammer's game-winning sack on Carl Bloom. Then in the Tulsa game, the massive 53 yard conversion from Marshall to Booth helping us march down the field and get a touchdown in the 4th quarter to help secure that win. We're still a new team and still trying to put it all together, but moments like this one are key to start building a foundation. Couldn't be prouder.

4. What is something you'd like to see your team improve over what they did in the preseason?

We did have a lot of drops and there were a lot of unnecessary penalties that set us back from arguably having even better performances. Those kinds of things are back breakers, especially at the highest level of competition. We will be looking at tape while preparing for the regular season and working on what we can to ensure we have less of those things happening.

5. Who was your MVP of the preseason?

I thought for a guy that the media kept saying should consider a move to running back that Robert Marshall handled himself in an awesome manner on both of these games. He was making his reads, getting yards, making key throws when he needed to make them and he was somebody who also showed an ability to learn from any mistakes made and come back better from them instead of being overwhelmed and consumed by them. I'd give him the nod as our preseason MVP for sure.

6. What is your season objective this year, and where do your see yourself finishing the season?

We're going to be looking to be that offensive force that the league talks about for years and years to come. I definitely believe our team can be within the Top 10 of a few offensive stats and that with it, we can cause a few "upsets" against some divisional rivals. For our first year, as we build the franchise, I think aiming for a respectable 5 to 6 wins is an achievable goal for our first year as a team.

I don't think we're getting much credit for it, but only allowing 29 points in two games is pretty damn nice considering our main focus was on offense in the building process.
Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS

Most certainly not. While it's only the preseason, the guys on the defense held their own - all the credit in the world to you guys for that much. Albeit the real test comes next with the gauntlet we have to run through our own division.

It's very unfortunate news about Isaacs though...guess we definitely are going to have to look at keeping Walker getting some touches out of the slot in that case. He had a few drops but Marshall seemed to be able to find him well for the most part on both games out of there. Outside of the injury, spirits in the locker room good now that we've gotten to play a little bit?

1. Talk us through this week's game. What did you like, what do you want to see improved?

It was a rude welcoming to the HIFL, if I ever have seen one. But Michigan were the Eastern Conference Champions last year for a reason and for a guy who fell from grace seasons ago after a good bit of controversy, GM Powers has certainly risen from it and done an excellent job building up that team over there in Michigan. Kudos to them and kudos to my old friend Giovanni Hill as well. That said, I do find it comforting that our offense showcased the ability to get the ball moving through the ground and especially on the air, as we've had 3 different receivers break 100+ receiving yards. That said, we definitely need to improve on keeping the ball safe and from avoiding costly turnovers like the two picks and the pair of fumbles lost. Those were backbreakers and I believe the key reason why this game was as lopsided as it was.

2. What did you make of your teams performance, despite the final outcome of the game?

The touchdown at the end was a positive sign for us. Again, being able to move the ball against a team that is defensively capable like Michigan was a very positive sign and as a team, this kind of experience is going to serve to make us learn and make us better as we grind along through the season.

3. Are there any major changes you see yourself making this week?

Nothing major in mind, just an emphasis on protecting the ball and avoiding costly turnovers.

4. Talk about at least two news stories from this week.

Honestly, the Berry hit should have warranted a bigger punishment both on the field as the play was called and even more so on the suspension if Ackerman is forced to retire due to it. Nobody deserves to go see their career snuffed out that way...and I get it, football is a dangerous sport, these guys put their bodies on the line every single week. But illegal hits like this need to see a bigger punishment and to have the message be made loud and clear that this sort of thing is unacceptable in the High Impact Football League. Another big thing for us was seeing that monster performance the Lynx's defensive corps put on New Jersey to open their season...needless to say, we're gonna have our hands full with them in another two weeks and of course, it's always lovely to know that Waylon Hagan still manages to somehow make all other GM's in this league bend over and just throw out money bills at him and his walrus of an agent for a year before letting them move on without so much as a complaint. ...That last bit was sarcasm, in case nobody caught that. I'm not bitter, I swear.

5. Talk to us about your match up this week.  Where do you see your opponent having an advantage? What is the key to victory?

The DC Cobras have become one of the elite franchises in the HIFL under the GM Jon years. But it's a new era for them as GM Dazz takes the success he built in Cleveland and tries his hand at a franchise with higher expectations. They still have the legendary Larry Stevens roaming around the defense and somebody who's skilled enough to change the complexity of a game on just one play and overall, their defense is something we are going to have to be on our toes to square up against. But given our own performance against Michigan, I do believe that if we can move the ball as well as we did against the Monsters and avoid the costly turnovers, we can find a way to steal one away from home and come into our first home game with some momentum. We saw Cleveland managing a comeback against them...I'd daresay we are capable of doing the same.

Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on March 10, 2018, 04:08:33 PM
I believe that we can learn from this particular experience and do everything we can to prepare ourselves to not allow another night like this one. It was a rough one, for sure, but I do believe it's too soon for other teams to call any sort of "open season" on our secondary. We've got a great coaching staff here and I believe we can make the proper adjustments as the season goes.

I agree completely. Any particular set of things we could do with the normal in-season training that you guys allocate each week to maybe help emphasize ball protection a little more? Whether that's an extra hour or two of practice spent on more position related training or with the athletics? Mainly asking because I know each coach has their own system when it comes to this and I don't want to interfere with whatever you might have in mind.

If it continues to be an issue we could possibly look at that type of adjustment. I think right now thought we don't want to rush in and change too much, it might make the players think we don't have faith in what we've been doing all off-season

1. Talk us through this week's game. What did you like, what do you want to see improved?

Being able to move the ball through the air and seeing a guy like Steven Jackson have a big day and burst out with a limited amount of catches is a big sign of the things we can do moving forward and a positive we can take as we move forward. But again, with a young team like this, we just have to continue to work on being able to protect the football and avoid costly turnovers. I feel this one was a lot closer than a lot of people have given us credit, especially with how we kept holding D.C. to field goals from the second to the fourth quarter.

2. Through two games this season, who's surprising you for the better, and for the worst?

A pleasant surprise has definitely been the way we have been able to move the football throughout the field with the amount of yards we have put together on both the ground and through the air the past two weeks. The biggest mystery for us and something we have to overcome is being able to not just take care of the football and avoid turnovers but also make sure our possessions are counting, that we are able to put points on the board...and that's something I do believe will come with time. And there wouldn't be a better time than starting this next week when we're at home against St. Paul.

3. Which one-part of your team do you believe is only going to get better going forward?

Our offense is getting used to playing with one another, chemistry is starting to develop between Robert Marshall and our receivers, our running backs are gradually adjusting to our system and making moves...that's one aspect of our team I see improving with the more we keep playing this season.

4. Talk about your news story this week.

I understand LaVar's concerns, being that he wants the best for his son and that he does believe he's a game-changer. As do we, otherwise we wouldn't have traded as much to Long Beach in order to get him. Involving Steven Jackson in our game plan is important moving forward, but our offense functions as a well-oiled machine and for that, we need to seek any and all options that are open and that give us the best shot to move the chains. That said, after hearing certain words earlier this morning on another podium, I can say this...I look forward to seeing what kind of game that Steven Jackson will show us this next week.

5. Talk about at least two other news stories this week.

Well, we can say this much...nobody expected Steven Crawford to turn back the clock and give us that comeback against the defending champions. It's inspirational in quite a few ways and proof that games are indeed won on the field and not on just stats and numbers. Good on Portland, even if it's the only win they get this year, it's a big one. Although I also have to wonder about that Kitchen boy at QB over there in Tulsa...so big of a chip on his shoulder that he's willing to run his mouth to you guys in the press after a win? Sheesh. Reminds of me of one Franchise's old "Bad Boys" squad out the FBL many years ago and not in a good way.

6. Talk to us about your match up this week, how do you rebound from defeat?

You know, I'd stand here and tell you all that St. Paul is the biggest challenge we have this season as of yet. Hell of a defensive corps, all in on their investment to get themselves an Impact Bowl to the point where they won the rights to throw the most money at Waylon Hagan and his personal walrus. I'd say that it would be tough and that we've got our hands full in order to give our home fans the kind of game they deserve to see in our opener in order to rebound from two defeats and earn out first victory in the toughest division of all of football. Not to mention, celebrating Top Gun Night and the most awesome Opening Night that the HIFL is going to see in quite some time.

...Then GM Gooch opened his mouth.

Son, your mouth is writing checks your body can't cash!

And the last thing I'm going to stand here and do is to watch this league's most glorified choke artist try to act like he's going to come into our house and just take what he wants at will! You wanna come into our house and act you're just going to dominate us? Let's see you try it. Because after what Portland just got done doing to Rapid City, I reckon the boys here and I feel a little bit inspired to do the exact same to your Impact Bowl hopeful on top of everything else I just mentioned. Yes, it's going to be tough! Yes, we're in for the fight of our lives but the way I see it, we only get one chance at making a good first impression to our home fans in Milwaukee...and we're gonna give you a dogfight of the likes you've never seen before, GM Gooch.

So strap on up, everybody. Because primetime football this week just got a hell of a lot more interesting...and we're going to deliver!

The last thing I'm going to do is take shit from a dude who hasn't even sniffed a championship game.

That said, the stage is set. While I didn't say it in the press, it's a Kobayashi Maru type scenario for St. Paul. They win here, it's business as usual. They lose here, they end up with more egg on their face and I'm all for some eggs here. But we've got some business to handle first...LaVar flying off the handle in two weeks' time is almost a record but I felt Steven made the most of his touches. We definitely are going to need him and the rest of our receivers stepping up against that St. Paul defense. Can you give me a breakdown on where their defense stands as of these first two weeks, statistically?

So there's some susceptibility on the ground, then. I do believe with our corps that we can take them on the air and don't want to deviate from that, but it might be worth a shot to increase Cleo and Forest's touches on the ground a tad more to keep that defense of theirs humble. Our line might be in for the biggest test to date, but I think it's worth a shot. How about you, Coach? Anything in specific you've seen out of St. Paul in these two weeks that you'd be looking to use against their defense?

Maxley gave up some big plays when going one on one with McReynolds, who is a big physical receiver, just like a slower version of Steven Jackson.. I think Jackson could have a surprisingly strong game if he can get physical with Maxley off of the line of scrimmage.

And if Jackson has the speed edge to go along with that...well, I'd say we found a mismatch we can exploit to our advantage. Awesome. We have Steven as our primary receiver, so I believe in Marshall's ability to take advantage of that. I'll leave the play calling to you guys as per usual but before we lock in, I'm waiting to hear back on something that was presented to us just before I went into the press conference. 1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

First off, what a hell of a way to make a home debut - Top Gun night in full swing, the Flight Deck was rocking and our home crowd showed up in full...and I thank you all for that. Our guys were energized from start to finish and we got business taken care of for our first win as a franchise. Our offense made the key plays it needed to make but the most important bit to point out is that our defense came out and played the game of a lifetime. I cannot thank Coach Stevens for getting these boys ready to go to war and our defense for executing - a record SEVENTEEN pass deflections to show for it and guys like Eddie Thomas and Miguel Tripp having the games of a lifetime in the process. I couldn't be prouder. And quite frankly, I hope St. Paul goes back home, licks their wounds, probably throws Waylon Hagan an extra 250K for being the only hired goombah on that team who wanted to try and win...and realize we are gonna remember this feeling here and be happy to go do it again at their house in a few weeks. The only downside was a scary situation involving Steven Jackson, who was about ready to break away from Moxley and make his mark prior to that bit. We'll be monitoring him this week to make sure he's in the best condition possible prior to returning to the field, as tendinitis can be a huge deal.

2. How do you feel about the emergence of the Alliance of American Football and the XFL?

I think it adds to the intrigue and the growth of American football worldwide. For many years, quite a few folks loved to beat the drum about how this sport wouldn't find its growth beyond the United States but lo and behold...we've got a lot of interest now, although I do believe that once this gets going, we won't be seeing any friendly relations with said league due to some of our esteemed GM's getting real "international camps" happy over the last few years. I'm glad it opens the doors for international football and that it gives players a home to establish their craft, I just hope it doesn't give way to unfair practices from both sides of the fence when it comes to talent, however.

3. Talk about something going on around the league this season that has interested you in one way or another.

I'm surprised we don't have any awards named after Omer Sasser as of yet. He's the definition of "money" in this league and a guy that I feel could honestly hit a 75-yarder with the wind on his side, haha.

4. Talk to us about your upcoming game this week.  What will be the key to victory?

New Jersey's got consistency with GM Kirk at the helm and they've got players who are hungry to get a win. Right now, we've got the same record of 1-2 and they will be determined to change that. That said, we've got a bit of a homestand here over the next couple of weeks and adding a second win under our belts at The Flight Deck is a priority. We're gonna take a deep breath, focus on the task ahead and come out with the intent of shooting down some Dragons from the sky.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

We moved the ball accordingly on offense and we kept the pace for three quarters, not letting things slip out of hand...that's one of the things we can say we did but as for what went wrong, it's more so the fact that we definitely gave up a lot on the ground and having two crucial turnovers throughout the game didn't help matters either. But this was a much closer game than what it looks on paper and I'm sure GM Kirk knows it as much...even through all his Twitter shade.

2. Which of your division rivals has surprised you the most so far this season?

The fact that St. Paul's offense is flaccid and their entire team has mostly acted like...well, I'm trying to think of a compensation joke that hasn't already been done yet, but nothing comes to mind. Next question, please.

3. With where you sit in the standings, do you feel it is a true reflection of your team? Where do you feel you should stand, and who on your team is most responsible for your current standing?

I feel that as an expansion team, we'd like to have had another win or so under our belts but as of now, this is where we currently stand and a record we have to improve on. I do fully give credit to our defensive efforts against St. Paul for helping us get that first win on the board and am fully confident that as our offense finds its groove that we're going to be able to take a few more W's before the season is done.

4. What has been the biggest challenge for your team so far this season, and who would you say was your teams' most improved?

I believe our biggest challenge is our defense against the run. It's been shown as much on the stat sheet and I'm sure our coaching staff and our players aren't happy it is the way it is either but hey, work in progress. I have felt that our red zone possessions have improved little by little with each game and am glad to see our guys being able to put in work in that area. Just gotta keep grinding, cliche as it sounds.

5. Talk to us about your upcoming game this week.  What will be the toughest thing to prepare for this week?

Playing in the toughest division in football alone is enough preparation as it is, but we've got Cleveland this week...a solid team with great players, excellent coaching and one of the most obnoxious owners in the entire league. Needless to say, we've got our work cut out for us but we are at home and I believe we have it in us to come out, play as hard as we can on all ends of the spectrum and succeed against a tough division foe. Anything can happen in the HIFL.

Timing is everything but yes, we definitely have to worry on the Zeke front. Given that we have had our struggles on the ground over this first quarter of football played, would you think some extra time for our defense dedicated to position training with a focus on stopping the run would be helpful or is it one of those cases where I’m reading too much into it?

We can definitely work that if you'd like, but it's one of those things we aren't going to vastly improve with a week of practice.

I wouldn't expect overnight results by any means, but something that can be worked on a steady basis might do the trick. I know the guys already work hard enough as is on defense, but would you say an extra hour of position training added to duties would work without overworking them?

Alright then, Coach. I'll make my rounds talking with some of the guys over the next couple of weeks but in the meantime, I'll let you all get back to work.

As per usual, coaches' decision on strategies/formations for the game...

And of course, this bit is to apply to all of our players on defense:

In-Season Training Schedule
- 1 extra hour of Position Training

LOCK IN

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

Well, what was a close game during the first half ended up going out of control as Cleveland did the smart thing by running the ball and letting Elliott grind it out alongside making the stops they needed to make. That said, I'm pleased that we only kept things to one turnover only rather than multiple ones and we have to continue to keep the ball secure to give ourselves a shot at competing during games but we're going to take this whooping we took and just move forward. We've got some kinks to figure out on both sides of the ball and having gotten through some very tough conference games, we hope to take the good and the bad from them, learn and take them into the next couple of weeks to make some wins happen. Credit is very much due to Coach Jason Blitzer for dealing with his starting QB being injured and doing the work he's done to keep Cleveland a contender, even without a GM helping them out and with an ownership team that's the equivalent of one of the worst things to ever happen to this league.

2. Talk to us about your upcoming game this week.  What will be the toughest thing to prepare for this week?

We've got Portland, who's another expansion team and who's tasted big time victory with their upset over the defending champions. They're well-rounded on all ends and that makes it tough to specify one particular thing to prepare against them but what I know we can do is just continue to prepare ourselves...to keep studying tape, to be sharp in practices and for this team to just keep playing more and more alongside one another, getting used to the guys next to them and to continue growing through whatever pains we experience throughout this season. Nobody likes losing and we definitely aim for victory this week and any week we go out into the field, but we also know we've got work to do on all ends in order to be a successful team for years to come.

It's a versatile offense. Kudos to them, we'll be more prepared for it on round 2 when we see them again in a few weeks.

Portland on deck, however...and well, they have one more win than us as of right now. Not for long, if we can help it.

Agreed. Although it’s only been the early portion of the season, mood in the locker room good or any concerns that come to mind? I know I haven’t exactly visited with people much this season, but also figure the boys focusing on football was a bit more important than just calling up guys left and right for minor check-ins.

Overall everyone is hanging in there just fine.  We knew as an expansion team we would have our fair share of losing efforts, we just have to keep focused on learning from them.

Agreed. The more we learn, the better we will get. Just let them know I’ll be calling up a few of them to check in next week in this case, Coach. Till then, no changes to what we set-up last week with the extra hour of training continuing for the defense.

Lock in.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

We got 'em. Portland made it tough on us, but we got things moving on offense and got our second victory of the season - something that goes well when heading into a bye week with the college showcase coming up. Happy with the way we moved the ball through the air and the ground, happy that our defense kept their heads on a swivel and kept Portland from scoring albeit we can still use some more improvements on our run defense and really, as an expansion franchise, you're learning from everything the league can throw at you...but I'm happy for the guys to get another W under them and experience the joy of winning.

2. Talk about this weeks league news, what stood out most to you?

Well, the situation in Tulsa immediately comes to mind but a part of me can't help but wonder about whether Aaron Kitchen is letting the chip on his shoulder get in the way of his throwing accuracy. It's good that a young man like him is upset he wasn't taken higher and is using the motivation to propel himself - and hopefully for him, the rest of his team - to the next level...but there are times where letting your temper get the best of you isn't going to do anything but make you enemies in this league. Trust me, I know that one firsthand.

3. What do you make of the news of the newest GM's to join the league? What advice would you give them?

I'm happy to see some new blood come together. GM Eli being a Cleveland aficionado and bringing that passion to that Mustangs team might very well make him better equipped to be the face of that franchise compared to the egomaniac that writes his checks and GM Bennett strikes me as a guy with a good head on his shoulders that knows what challenges are ahead of him. As for any advice? Look, I'm not a winning GM at this particular moment nor a guy with championship rings but I'd just honestly say taking it one week at a time, not letting emotions sway them and if they can keep their noses clean, that'll mean longevity and that's a big thing here in the HIFL.

4. With the draft class being announced later this week, do you plan to target personalities, skill sets, or position groups at the college showcase?

We're definitely going to be looking at a good amount of defensive positions to look towards strengthening that side of the ball come next season. It's something many - ourselves included - believe that we direly need in the future and along with that, I am going to be looking at guys who have a bit of a competitive streak in them as well. With the growth of this franchise, we are going to be expected to compete down the line and I do want men who have that hunger in them to continue to strive for better with each week to accentuate the talent and competitive spirit we've got in our own roster here now.

5. What do you hope to gain most this week during the bye week, for yourself but also for your team?

More knowledge for the future that awaits us, some well-deserved rest after a very tough first six weeks of football and a means to look at what we've done during that time and how to improve that going forward. We've come in as a franchise by making a lot of noise and with a lot of energy, we look forward to delivering more of that and making Barons football that hot ticket that everyone wants to see with their own two eyes.

LaVar is getting his feet in the agent game, so that much doesn't surprise me one bit. Given how well Steven's been playing for us here and the potential he has, I'd say it's worth taking a look at all options that come our way.

Absolutely. Good work out there altogether, Coach. I've already sent the assignments for the showcase to the scouting team, so I'm looking forward to see what comes out of it. That said, six weeks into the season, what are the things you've been seeing out there that you've liked or anything that you noticed we perhaps should be doing a bit more of on the offense's side of the ball?

I am wondering if we should slightly increase our run game to help open up the pass game more, and also possibly reducing Walker's snaps in the slot to give our receivers more opportunities as well.  Walker has a lot of catches, but also a lot of drops.
Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on June 15, 2018, 12:39:08 AM
That's definitely an idea and I'd be OK with it being implemented. What ratio are we currently running on run/pass as of right now and what rate would you like to see us try our next game to get a feel for it?

As on Walker, I think it's fine to reduce those snaps from the slot for him. He'll grow with time but I've noticed his amount of drops as well and his hands aren't there just yet for that much. Who do you see out of our receivers as a better choice for the slot? Or do we do it by some sort of committee option?

(http://espnsportssims.net/pics/var/albums/Coaches/Kelly Spuds.jpg)

Right now here are our ratios.
1st and 10 - 40% pass
1st and Short - 35% pass
1st and Long - 70% pass
2nd and Short - 45% pass
2nd and Long - 80% pass
3rd and Short - 55% pass
3rd and Long - 99% pass
4th and short - 50% pass
4th and long - 99% pass
Goal Line - 50/50
Leading w/ 2 mins - 50/50
Trailing w/ 2 mins - 99% pass

I Think we'll look at spiking an extra 15% run into most situations... and as far as the slot goes, I think Bello deserves first crack at the job since Isaacs is still out.
Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on June 23, 2018, 01:17:54 PM
The 15% run spike is good with me, Coach. And yeah, giving Bello the shot at the slot while Isaacs is still healing up also works. Please feel free to use those changes accordingly through practices and onto our gameplan going forward, then let's see where it goes. I figure it might be the time to talk with some of the guys again here so they don't feel I'm ghosting them or something, Coach. Anything else on your mind before I let you get back to practice, Coach?

Glad it's at least been OK so far, but we'll look to make it better as the season goes on and we keep things moving. Trust me on this one.

1st and 10 - 60/40
1st and Short - 65/35
1st and Long - 45/55
2nd and Short - 55/45
2nd and Long - 35/65
3rd and Short - 60/40
3rd and Long - 15/85
4th and short - 65/35
4th and long - 1/99
Goal Line - 65/35
Leading w/ 2 mins - 65/35
Trailing w/ 2 mins - 1/99

Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on June 29, 2018, 12:20:38 AM
1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

Our run defense still needs work as it's been told for many weeks and we need to stop taking foolish penalties that can shoot us in the foot the way in which a couple of those with the unsportsmanlike helmet-to-helmet hit and holding calls, for example. But that said? We let our running game showcase itself some more and I think it really opened up our offense to put up the numbers that it did this week, especially with Steven Jackson's breakout game. That kid is a special talent and I, for one, am glad we've got him here in Milwaukee for the future as I fully do think he can break 1,000 yards in his rookie season at the pace he's going. Marshall's been getting more acclimated with the offense, our running attack was more versatile, our defense made some key stops that helped make this game against St. Louis an overtime affair to begin with and while there's still work to do...we got a really good glimpse at what to improve on and some of the things that this team can become with the time and the talent in place.

2. Talk about this weeks league news, what stood out most to you?

I think that LaVar did have a case for at least our league to consider at least offering the invitation to the other Jackson boys to be part of the showcase if they are under its qualifications. So I'm pleased that he's looking to run his own showcase with his boys and some of the other players I know he's been eyeing for his own agency down the line and as Steven is a Baron, I fully support him in that notion and figure that it doesn't hurt for more talent to be seen so that they can play football. But with that said, I'm kind of curious why suddenly everybody is jumping on the Sasser bandwagon that he bricked three kicks just to appease GM Jon and his "revenge" game against the Cobras. If I recall it correctly, going into this game against Seattle, he's only been a 92% guy from field goals who's better known for having a powerful leg and drilling a lot of long distance shots...but that isn't always going to be accurate and then you add in all the rain and wind going on, it didn't surprise me that some of those field goals would end up missed.

Also, knowing our opponents this week are trying to make a big splash for a marquee wide receiver spells out that they're serious about competing for the now...I just hope Long Beach gets their worth and then some, Hodge is one heckuva player.

3. How did you feel about the first annual HIFL/NCAA Showcase?  Do you feel like it was a beneficial addition to the league?

I thought it was definitely a beneficial and crucial step for the HIFL to present itself as an alternative to the current football status quo and what is to come in the future with the XFL and such coming into the fold next year. I would love to see it continue every year, as we've gotten some good intel moving forward.

4. What was your take on the amount of GM errors that occurred during the bye-week?

...Guys, let's be realistic. We all knew MathGate was coming. I just don't think a whole lot of us expected some of the people who did it this time around. But hey, it's not a concern to me as it isn't my team budget that's getting messed with in these circumstances. I hope to never be that person that's having to explain that kind of thing to you media guys and gals one day.

5. Do you plan on making any call ups this week before locking in?

At the moment, no. We only have one guy in our developmental system and Roger Toliver is going to continue his development in Green Bay this season. I'm excited to have him as a prospect, dude's a hard-working guy who wants a fair chance to crack the league one day and once he's ready, we in Milwaukee might just be the ones to give him that shot.

6. Talk about your game this upcoming week.

The last of the expansion teams in Charlotte...a damn good team, at that. They've been putting in some work thus far during this season and I have a feeling we're in for a rough one on both sides of the ball. But we did a lot of good things this past week that we can take into that game against the Crowns and with the right adjustments made, I believe we can put up a proper fight and if it all goes well, get our third win of the season.

Timing wise, I say we can aim it for the bye week. With the All-Star Break, it'd be an opportunity to get all the names and faces in town that we need, set up the schematics and give everyone time to show off their stuff. But I'm OK with doing it earlier as well if you feel we need to strike when the iron is hot or something.

Hey Coach, sorry for the delay. Carmine mentioned you were still downstairs, LaVar Jackson paid a visit to talk his whole showcase he's setting up come All-Star Break and I got us access to it - regardless of however it runs, it should be an extra bit of knowledge on some guys for the next year. That said, gutted for you guys on this last game. Just had the fair share of penalties that cost us that chance to march down at the end and win it with a field goal. But that said, our running definitely looked better.

I'm okay with integrating it into the long term gameplan if you are, Coach.

But onto current business, Charlotte looks they're aiming to make a big move on the receiver front - Sullivan has an arm, but I'm curious as to how their offense has been thus far on both ends, see if we can find something to pinpoint as a means of keeping them as contained as possible.

They're pretty balanced.  10th in rushing at 146.7 yards per game, 11th in passing at 247.7 yards per game.  They're 4th in points, and 20th in points allowed at 30.1 for both stats.  They're a picture of balance.  They give up 137 yards per game on the ground, 240 in the air, lining up almost identical with what they create.

Balanced to a fault. That said, the points allowed means something we can take advantage of even if we bend on their running game against us.

Let's keep this simple for the week, then, Coach. Nothing else to really touch on from my end.

For our game plan, we'll go with the same run/pass ratio as last week on the following:

1st and 10 - 60/40
1st and Short - 65/35
1st and Long - 45/55
2nd and Short - 55/45
2nd and Long - 35/65
3rd and Short - 60/40
3rd and Long - 15/85
4th and short - 65/35
4th and long - 1/99
Goal Line - 65/35
Leading w/ 2 mins - 65/35
Trailing w/ 2 mins - 1/99

All other coaching strategies and line-up decisions are Coaches' Decisions.

Let's lock in.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

Well, this was one of those games where everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong and where, plain and simple, we got our butts kicked. It doesn't feel good for anybody and the only bright side of it is that it's now over and we can use the tape from that game against Charlotte to learn more about ourselves and avoid that kind of embarrassment again, especially at home.

2. Give us an evaluation of the first half of the season for your team, who has stood out both good and bad?

Our defense is working hard as is our coaching staff on it, but it's clear that I need to make the moves going forward to shore up the defense moving forward. As for the good, I do like that our offense is getting a bit of chemistry put together and that it's just a matter of time and experience to work out the kinks. As for who has stood out, Robert Marshall and Steven Jackson have shown that they have a future in this league as some of the top players in their position and as for the bad, I just think that the number of drops for Frank Walker this season are something the coaching staff and I are disappointed about because we know how talented that young man is...but one's gotta secure the ball if they're gonna make catches, add yards, etc.

3. With where you sit in the standings, how do you feel about your chances of meeting your owners expectations and how do you grade your performance as GM, what about your job security?

As an expansion franchise, we're growing our brand here and trying to establish ourselves within the offense rankings and I think we've done some of those things. It'd be nice to add another win or so over our division opponents as well to go with it, but I do believe I'm OK as far as my job standing unless I'm told otherwise by our owner.

4. Who is your league-wide Mid-season MVP?  Who has been the most surprising under performer?

Adrian McCaffrey in St. Paul...can't deny what his numbers are showing and how much he adds to that St. Paul team as a whole. As for an under performer, look...that can probably be answered with the next question.

5. Which of your division rivals has surprised you the most? How and Why?

Probably GM Powers and the Michigan Monsters. I understand that his absence due to personal health issues hasn't helped them one bit but this Monsters team almost looks like nothing like the juggernaut that came together to make that Impact Bowl run last season. Perhaps once he's fully healthy and returned, they might turn the corner but as of now, I'd say they're probably the surprise and the underperforming bunch.

6. With the Trade Deadline coming up this week, Do you see yourself as a buyer, a Seller, or do you plan to hold fast with what you have?

I'll be keeping my eyes open on any moves we can make to help our defense improve for the long haul but nothing to break the bank.

7. What is your opinion on the league's newly announced luxury tax rule, do you believe it is fair, and do you believe it will benefit the league?

I think it's definitely needed as a means to keep certain teams and GM's in check alongside it being an extra caveat to prepare for the competition that the AAF and XFL are going to be bringing. I do think it'll benefit the league in the long term, yes.

8. Talk about your game this upcoming week, what do you need to focus on most?

I could throw all the cliches on Earth here, but a better performance than what we gave last week would be a start. We'll work our butts off to do that.

It is a slower process than even what I was expecting, sir. At the same time, the potential is there for this nucleus to really turn up the heat the moment that we figure this out. I believe we can definitely keep moving towards that path, personally.

Coaches, do you have a moment?

AFTER GATHERING THEM TOGETHER IN AN AREA SLIGHTLY AWAY FROM THE PLAYERS, GM STRIKE GUY SPEAKS UP AGAIN

Hey guys...it was not exactly the week any of us hoped for on this one but I figured to skip the office talks for the week and came down wanting to talk here with you all at first before addressing the team as a collective. To start with, I just wanted to say thank you. The hard work doesn't go unnoticed. But with us headed to Atlanta after a loss like the one we took against Charlotte, I just want to get your opinions on what we can be looking at from all aspects in order to string some positive results on the remainder of the season. The floor is yours, Coaches.

Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on July 17, 2018, 09:58:32 PM
Thanks, Coaches.

Gentlemen, it's been an experience thus far for us. Highs and lows, learning every day and after last week, learning what it's like to really get punched in the mouth by anything and everything around you. A learning experience is an understatement when it comes to that game...but that was just one game. It's a new week for us and with it, comes a new challenge in a land where a certain General Manager has pillaged and plummeted his own team to the point where they are barely even recognizable. There's no doubt in my mind that Atlanta is going to come at us with everything that they have and then some, that they're going to play us for their own pride and their own self-respect since their GM has absolutely none of that! They're going to a formidable foe but with this circumstance, I see an opportunity for us.

We have yet to claim our first road win as a franchise...and I am of full belief that Atlanta is as good of a place to make that history. For ourselves, for the teammates and staff around you, for this city that has been supporting us since Day 1 of putting this operation together. A road win and a chance to grab some momentum for the remainder of this season and play with our heads held higher than before.

Let's soar high, boys and give 'em a dogfight they'll never forget!  ...And let's see if these Warriors have got the guts to come out and play!

Barons on three!

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

I'd argue a lot more went wrong than right. The obvious result, stats, turnovers, losing our starting quarterback for the season and overall, it was a rough round for us all around and I'd like to extend my congratulations to the players and coaches in Atlanta for their victory in spite of their incompetent GM. But with that said, our focus moving forward will be in ensuring that we finish out the season with the players that we have here and to continue growing as a team. This is a setback, but it is one that we will overcome.

2. With the All-Star Rosters being announced this week, what is your take on the composition, any snubs or surprises from your own team?

Miguel Tripp should have made that squad one way or another. Incredibly happy for Ronnie Andrade being nominated, however.

3. What news stories stood out to you this week?

If there was ever a time to be glad for a Tulsa Celtics victory, this week would definitely be it. Good on Tulsa for getting it done. Also, as for the play everyone's been going on about with Steven Jackson's high stepping and it costing us a touchdown...well, he's young. Young and impressionable in a lot of ways but that was a rookie mistake. One that I'm confident he will learn from and not repeat, given that it cost him an extra touchdown catch on his stats along with yards.

4. Talk about your game this upcoming week, what do you need to focus on most?

Just getting back to basics and adapting to the injuries around us in order to give Oakland a fight. GM Justin's squad is trying to get itself back to .500 and there's no doubt that this team is coming with every intention to get there...

Incredibly so. Part of me half-wanted to tell the media to fuck off this week and call GM Lucas a cunt, but thankfully, that part of me has been contained ever since the whole debacle with Hagan a few years ago.

That said, nothing else we can do but move forward here. Also, we need to look at bringing somebody in for the rest of the season to play QB...if anything, what's your evaluation on Lee Woo from what you've seen of him in practices? Do you think he's a feasible enough guy to start for the rest of the year or should we focus our search around free agency instead?

Well, free agency-wise, we only have two options...  Owen Arrington and Marco Schweinsteiger. Woo is probably a better starting option than either of those two, but perhaps we could work something out with another team to cut their 3rd QB or a prospect QB that we could sign, and pay them back in the off-season with some PR or a late round pick? ...just an idea.
Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS

Yeah, given the options in free agency...probably for the best in regards of your idea, Coach. I'll start putting feelers out and seeing if I can pull off something of the sort. In the meantime, Oakland's fighting for their playoff lives out there...how are they looking on the stats for their offense and defense overall?

Without our franchise quarterback, our offensive stats don't mean much anymore.  Meawhile We're last in rushing defense they are 12th in run offense.  They're 12th in passing and we're still #2 vs the pass.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

Oakland's offense was firing on all cylinders and they played like a team trying to make the playoffs. For the most part, we didn't make the plays we needed to in order to match them in firepower from start to finish and again, it's another one in the books for us to take film from and continue to improve our form as much as we can. I will say we did have a few bright spots with those connections from Woo to SJAX. Our receivers have the ability to break the game open if we give them the opportunity and Steven Jackson's shown that in spades with his two TD catches. Overall, we've gotta keep working.

2. Talk about any news your team is involved in this week, as well as what other news stories stood out to you this week?

Well, as it's been already covered, the Woo-SJAX connection showed some sparks this week and I agree with LaVar in that it could be money for us as we go through the remainder of the season. It's a good start for them, but we'll see what the rest of the year holds. As for the rest of the league, gotta tip my cap to Curt Robles...that performance was the stuff of legends that we're going to be talking about for years to come, even more so when we're inducting that man into the Hall of Fame. Kudos to him and the Alabama franchise.

3. Talk about your game this upcoming week, what do you need to focus on most?

Tombstone's on deck. They've struggled as well as we have. We just gotta work on our basics and focus on keeping the ball in our possession, avoid costly penalties and just play the kind of game that I know we are capable of playing as a team. We do that, we'll break off this losing streak.

It was good to see some promising play out of Woo, and Jackson's continuing a strong rookie campaign. 833 yards and 10 TDs on 40 catches.. We're still trending in the right direction.
Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on July 31, 2018, 08:01:50 PM
Yeah, we know where we stand but seeing positive results from some of our parts is good. Woo looked less shaky than I expected, which is definitely good. That said, Coach - to be honest, I figure to touch base with a few guys come All-Star break so I won't waste your time or anyone else's. I'll leave any game strategies and personnel decisions to you and the coaching staff.

Let's lock in for the week.

1. Talk us through your Week 12 Game, What did you like, what didn't you like?

It was nice to get another win and a big credit to Peter Bain for stepping in after the unfortunate injury to Lee Woo in order to help us get that W on the board against Tombstone. That said, it sucks seeing yet another QB on our chart get injured for the remainder of the season.

2. What did you think of the All-Star skills challenges?

I felt the challenges generated as much buzz as the game itself, as the whole situation between Merv and Elias showcased throughout a couple of those. It's a way of differentiating our league from any other football league out there and overall, it should be fun to see next year's now that we have established champions for each competition.

3. What did you think of the All-Star Game itself?

It showcased the best of the best in the league clashing against one another and it was a fun back-and-forth contest to see. Exciting finish, on top of it all. That said, we've got aspirations to see more than just one All-Star selection out of Milwaukee next season.

4. With the Minor League Call Up Window here once again, do you plan on calling up any players?

Negative, we want Mr. Toliver to get all the experience he can get with actual playing time in the minors and let him continue to grow before considering a call-up.

5. Talk about your game this upcoming week, and how do you feel about the final five games of the regular season?

It's back to divisional play for us and getting Cleveland once more is going to make for an interesting game, given their recent in-house issues. That is still a very strong team that can run the ball and make plays on both ends, so our football is going to have to be played out perfectly to keep pace and grab a win.

1. Talk us through your Week 12 Game, What did you like, what didn't you like?

It was a hard-fought battle and it showed that we still have plenty left in the tank for the remainder of the season. The mission for us with knowing that we are out of a postseason berth is fairly simple with games left against our division...we want to play spoiler for every team on our schedule from here on out.  We aren't laying down and this week was a display of that pure grit by our guys. It was nice to see Loren Isaacs back from injury and getting himself back into the fold alongside the absolute performance from guys like Peter Bain, Miguel Tripp, Cleo Rickard, Steven Jackson, James Booth and the rest of the boys. It's unfortunate that we couldn't pull off the upset against Cleveland but I believe this game was huge in helping build a foundation for our future as a team.

2. Talk about anything interesting you around the league...

The playoff races are starting to heat up and lo and behold, our division here in the North East is seeing itself with four other teams - outside of Cleveland, who is currently leading the division - trying to fight for some of those Wild Card spots. And our schedule for the rest of the season just so happens to be against our division foes, some that are on the bubble between postseason football and going home for the rest of the year like us.

3. Talk about your game this upcoming week, what do you need to do to win?

...The timing on that question couldn't be more perfect.

We have St. Paul this week. Our first franchise victory, our first win at home ever. We sang them off the field in the last meeting to "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" by the Righteous Brothers and played a heck of a game in the process to do it. That same intensity, that same fire from our defense and our offense is going to have to come forth full throttle again to handle this version of the St. Paul Lynx that has found some of its mojo once more. They are on a four game winning streak right now and picking up momentum at the right time...so the way I see it? It's up to us to put a stop to it and add another upset over a division rival to our books.

That said, you guys fought like hell in that Cleveland game, just like you said you all would Coach. Anything that you see out of St. Paul that we can possibly use against them since the last time we've played them?

Their defense is ridiculously talented.  Maybe the best in the league now.  I'm worried about Hagan, he's on a tear this year.

As for their offense, it's still the same, if we can fluster Carr early, we could sweep this season series and make GM Gooch's head explode.

Yeah, they were no laughing matter the first round either on their defense. That said, do we keep the defense the same way or maybe add an extra bit of pressure with blitz percentage upped slightly in some down situations to rattle Carr in a similar vein to what we did the last game?

We definitely could up the blitz a little here and there, what did you have in mind?
Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on August 30, 2018, 12:11:19 AM
Well, correct me if I'm mistaken, but we've normally run something akin to 35% on most of our blitzes. I'd say the change not be too radical...I was thinking something around 40 to 45 percent? Enough of an increase to come at them if they try to run the ball on us with AMC and keep them humble enough on that passing game. The more we can get Carr to second-guess himself and make rushed throws, the more we can bat them down and/or pick them off. Thoughts?

Let’s set the blitz ratio for 45% in this game, then. Got nothing to lose at this point.

All other strategies and roster movements are up to you, Coach.

Good luck this week. Let’s lock in.

Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on September 22, 2018, 01:12:59 AM
"First off, thank you members of the media for your patience - hasn't been the easiest few weeks recovering from the flu, but I'm glad to see everyone once again. Let's get to some questions, shall we?"

1. Talk about this weeks performance from your team...

It was a bit of a whimper versus D.C. after two very solid performances in the weeks prior against Michigan and New Jersey. We finish our season at 3-13 and tied for last place with three other teams...and while I believe none of us were hoping for a record like that, this first season was a learning experience for all of us and we're looking forward to taking everything we have learned and come back as a stronger team in our second season.

2. Who was your MVP this season, and why?

Steven Jackson. Over 1,000 yards receiving, more than 10 receiving TD's, he was an absolute and consistent presence for us throughout the year and I fully believe he'll come back next season even stronger, faster and ready to make bigger waves.

3. Who was your most disappointing player this year, and why?

Frank Walker. We believe in his ability to be a versatile player but there was a lack of consistency in his play and the constant amount of drops were definitely detrimental on drives. I only say this because we know how capable Frank is and we know he can improve by putting in the work this offseason. One’s best success comes after their greatest disappointments and I know he'll be able to take this experience, convert it into success and in turn, contribute to our success.

4. How would you grade your coaches performances this year?

A. They've been a consistent presence in and out of the locker room and a great help to me in building the pieces for the future of this team. I couldn't ask for a better staff.

5. How would you grade your own performance this year?

C-. I feel that I helped make the proper moves to build this team here, but a 3-13 season definitely brings the grade down and then some. There's a lot I have to still improve before I can give myself anything higher.

6. Who is your pick to go and win the Impact Bowl?

After seeing the season they've put together and that defense being the way they have been...I'm gonna say it's Las Vegas pulling it off.

Weirdly enough? Both. ...I have Frank on my fantasy team. It was a rough week for him.

I'm gonna apologize to Forest proper here soon. Guess I haven't kicked out of my flu just yet. Yikes.

Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS

No need to apologize. You all did what you could do under the circumstances. ...But yeah, less NyQuil, more water.

That said, number three overall next draft. We're definitely going to make some proper noise with that pick and help shore up this team some more.

Hey Forest. Look, first and foremost, I owe you a gigantic apology for that snafu with the press. Screwing up names is not something I tend to do and I'm ashamed of that particular slip-up, it will not happen again. That said, the words do still ring true...I know you're probably as frustrated as anyone with the drops you had and come training camp, I'll definitely be ensuring you get some proper time with the coaches to work on your hands even more to continue using you in the offense the way we want to. Sound good?

Thanks, Mr. Barone. The vote of confidence a few weeks ago on us being that much better come Year 2 once we're all fully recovered was much appreciated as well. Glad to have hit on some of those goals and now that we know our place in the draft, it's even more exciting. That said, with all of the circumstances with helping get our league's coaches back from that hell from last offseason brought us to needed expenditures and hitting on most of our goals for the season, I'd like to see if it would be possible if you were to pay our way into the upcoming season's combine.

Coach Patricia, this is GM Strike over here in Milwaukee. With Coach Stevens retiring, we are looking for a new defensive coordinator here in Milwaukee and your hybrid style of defense with its aggression has my curiosity - what exactly is your philosophy with running this particular style and why do you think it would excel at the HIFL level?

Man, it's just nice to hear someone say my name right for  change... anyways, Look at what we did in Miami, 4-3, a little 3-4 if the personnel works, nickle and 335 looks on passing downs, and a a lot of mixing up our looks...

Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on September 28, 2018, 11:45:03 PM
Hey, I understand the sentiment with names...my mother's side of the family has their last name butchered almost all of the time, it's very annoying. The success in Miami definitely has shown itself, especially with the team you all had last season. That said, we definitely have a lot of work to do on the defensive side and I'm looking to bolster that this year - with that in mind, which position on defense do you consider to be the most crucial to your system and what kind of player do you look for in order to build that system?

The defensive line is the key, not just one player or position, but the D-Line is what you have to build on, they are the foundation of the defense.

Coach Cole, it's a pleasure to speak with you. Looking at what Ole Miss managed to do within a year, going from a struggling season to making the National Championship game...it's amazing, to say the least. A part of that definitely has to do with the defense that you put together and we're looking to interview for our Defensive Coordinator position here in Milwaukee. So for starters, what is your coaching style, philosophy and the kind of tempo that you like to play your defense at?

We go with an aggressive defense, we blitz, we play zone in the secondary, and we look for big nasty DTs who can penetrate the line and get back to cause problems.
Title: Re: TEAM: MILWAUKEE BARONS
Post by: GM Strike Guy on September 29, 2018, 01:35:51 AM
This fits on what we're looking for with this team going forward. We're already an aggressive bunch on offense, so we're looking to have that identity be there as a whole.

That said, we're still a young team and we are growing. So Coach, is a long-term project as a coordinator something that you would be interested in tackling or are you looking for something more on the short term?

Understood. I appreciate you taking the time, Coach Cole. We'll be in touch.

Carmine, we're doing another interview...let's talk with Luis Brown over in St. Louis, please.

Coach Brown, GM Strike Guy in Milwaukee. I'm confident you've probably already gotten one or two of these calls, if not more, regarding the possibility of making the jump to a coordinator position. Having played you guys last season, I was really impressed with the work that Coach Tarr, Coach Thigpen and yourself put together plus how incredible that defense was in its first year ever. We're looking for something a little more aggressive this year on the defensive side and I'm planning to go after the defensive pieces to help run such a system. Hypothetically speaking, if we were to hire you and bring you in to help revitalize our defense, which position do you believe is the one we should focus on the most on the defensive side of the ball and why?

Well, this has been an exciting pair of days - Carmine, I know the move was a sudden one, but is there any chance in which you can reach out to Mr. Thomas Richards for me, please?

Mr. Richards, GM Strike Guy here in Milwaukee. We're glad we were able to get you, I just wanted to talk shop for a brief moment prior to heading into training camp. We know you got a chance more recently to return to your natural position of Strong Safety during your time with the Bruins last season - that said, we do have someone we like at the position here with Michael Bolin, who's been developing well at that spot for us. But with Coach Cole coming into the fold with his defensive scheme that took Ole Miss to a national title game, my question to you is whether you'd be willing to be someone we can use at both positions - depending on the game situation - or if you're more comfortable just staying at Strong Safety. I can work with either option, just wanted your input.

PR CAMPAIGNS

750K - ROBERT MARSHALL: “ROBERT’S REBELLION”
500K - In collaboration with HBO and the Game of Thrones crew, Robert Marshall + the Milwaukee offense will dressed in Barons colors/logo themed armor for a commercial/hype package where Robert Marshall will highlight the beginnings of a potent offense in the last season that was derailed by injuries and inexperience. However, even though Houses Mustangs, Dragons, Monsters, Cobras and Lynx got to enjoy their period of success over the past few seasons...it is long time for a change of the guard, a rebellion against the norms in the lands of the North East and for House Barons to show their worth. Robert Marshall would help lead them there, by any means necessary...for the Glory On The Kingdom!

250K - A in-game promotion for Week 14 when St. Paul comes to play Milwaukee at home where exclusive Robert Marshall Funko POP! figures will be given to the first 5,000 fans coming into The Flight Deck alongside every seat having a Barons-colored scarf and beanie with “Robert’s Rebellion” adorning the scarf from end-to-end and the Barons Game of Thrones’ esque logo at its ends, the beanie being said logo on one side and “Robert’s Rebellion” on the other.

500K - STEVEN JACKSON: “#SJAXSZN”
250K - A commercial showcasing all of the highlights of Steven Jackson’s arrival into the HIFL - from being drafted, to the trade that made him a Baron, to all of the plays throughout last year that make him the patriarch of the Big Baller Brand family within the HIFL and that made him one of the most recognizable young faces in the game today. The commercial ends with Steven Jackson making an amazing one-handed catch after leaping high in the air, sticking the landing and declaring to the world that this year, it’s #SJAXSZN…and no defensive player is safe!

250K - A two-fold campaign that includes maintenance of last season’s “Big Baller Brand” store inside of The Flight Deck alongside its most important aspect, which is rolling out and selling the most recent shoe in the BBB family weeks prior to it going out to the general public in stores across the country: The "SJAX11 YR2" Big Baller Brand Sneakers.

250K - JAMES BOOTH: “FEAR THIS BEARD”
Alongside running TV and radio ads describing James Booth’s highlight plays last season, footage of Booth’s intense workouts alongside his attitude in interviews, including one particular tidbit where he plans to “teach these jabronis in the league to FEAR THIS BEARD,” there will be also be a game promotion in Week 8 against Portland where the first 8,200 fans inside The Flight Deck will get their own “Fear This Beard” t-shirt and a beard accessory that matches Booth’s glorious beard in all its majesticness.

250K - FOREST WALKER: “RUN, FOREST, RUN!”
A couple of radio and TV spots that show Forest Walker going about his day-to-day life and ends up in a situation where he has to do certain things such as chase down a thief who took away a purse from a frail old lady, to saving a cat that is about to fall from a tree, things of that nature with somebody in the background screaming the words “RUN, FOREST, RUN” somewhere during it all...as Forest Walker does, indeed, run and manages to save the day with his speed, encouraging Milwaukee Barons to run just like him to get their tickets for The Flight Deck and Barons home games this season.

250K - EARL CHRISTIAN: “REVENGE”
This one is a fairly simple set of short and sweet hype packages where the narrator is Earl Christian himself talking about the events that led him into Milwaukee over him working out and executing various football drills, sweat dripping down from him with each intense bit of work put in but no signs of quitting within him as Christian is out for one thing this season: revenge. Revenge on those who doubted him like GM Eli and the Mustangs organization, revenge on those who don’t believe he deserved the recognition and payday he got during free agency and that in this season, none would be safe until he got his pound of flesh from Cleveland and anyone else who thought he wasn’t good enough!

250K -STEPHEN BASHAM: “BASHAM REALTY ENTERPRISES!”
This particular commercial showing Stephen Basham going through the various neighborhoods within the key cities in New Jersey, Cleveland and Michigan alongside roaming around Washington D.C. and of course, St. Paul, talking excitedly about all the new properties that he gets to acquire over the course of the next few years - while highlights of his college playing career run alongside each area he visits - as “Basham Realty Enterprises” is opening up for business with a focus on causing turnovers and assume command within key properties across the HIFL that bring all of the value and opportunities to the city of Milwaukee and of course, to help the Barons soar higher than they’ve ever been...the point being fully illustrated by highlights of Basham’s interceptions and big tackles during his college career, ending with Stephen Basham leaping up and snagging a football out of the air to cap off the commercial!

TEAM WIDE PR (1MM) - TOP GUN NIGHT II
“Back by popular demand!!! This EXCITING night at “The Flight Deck” for the Milwaukee Barons’ home opener will include “Top Gun” décor, 80s music, and contests centered on the hit movie in order to showcase your Barons pride and re-create the most sensational atmosphere in all of the HIFL. All season ticket holders will be provided with an unique set of personal flight suits customized in Milwaukee Barons colors with a call sign of their choice (no profanity allowed, however) - sign-up information will be provided to season ticket holders to order the appropriate size of flight suit and write in their call sign.

• 500K - To up the first year in terms of performances, a halftime show is being organized where none other than Mr. Kenny Loggins will be playing the hits such as “Danger Zone” and “Mighty Wings”

MUSICAL LICENSES

1. “TOP GUN ANTHEM” BY HAROLD FALTERMEYER & STEVE STEVENS (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2M7QwHnVXQ)
This song will play prior to kickoff as the Barons come out of the tunnel to pre-game introductions along with small excerpts from it playing after a touchdown.

2. “THROUGH THE FIRE” by LARRY GREENE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isZLa38z9hI)
Its chorus will be used mainly as a means to hype up the entirety of The Flight Deck on key offensive and defensive situations.

1. Use three words to classify how your off-season went, and explain.

Target-rich environment. And what I mean by that is that we've come into a situation where we have a lot of opportunity for growth and this off-season was our first step towards the improvement of the Barons franchise overall. I'm sure at this point you've seen the re-branding that the excellent folks at TTTS Design put together with our logo and colors but logos and colors aren't the only big change. We have kept the major components of our offense together alongside strengthening our defense for both the present and the future with our moves within the amateur draft, free agency and trading - Stephen Basham, Earl Christian, Michael Cervantes and Thomas Richards being some of the big names in question regarding this aspect. Add those signings alongside a very strong training camp where our young talent has improved at a fast rate and that should help us make big strides compared to last season. We still have a ways to go as our team is still in a growing phase but we are very much in an environment that is ripe with opportunity to grow and to live up to our expectations as a high-octane team on both sides of the ball that plays competitive, exciting football.

2. Coming out of training camp, where do you rank your team in the division, in the conference, and in the league?

I believe that our team definitely ranks on its improvement above the likes of St. Paul, for one. Within our division, until we prove otherwise, I believe we're in the middle of the pack and from a conference perspective, I'd say that with our progression through training camp that we can be competitive enough to be in a similar position to basically all of the other teams in the North East on our division and be competing for a wild card playoff spot. It might sound ambitious given we're coming off of a 3-13 season last year but we're young, our core is practically the same as last year, our coaching is mostly the same and I do not believe we'll have any transition woes compared to some of the teams across the league, so I do believe we're within position to start making a lot of noise in the HIFL altogether this year.

3. Do you have any position battles planned for the preseason?  Which jobs are up for grabs and what do you hope to gain from the preseason games?

The guys in our secondary are an incredibly talented bunch and they've been battling it out for touches since training camp. I definitely want to see some more of that competitive fire going into the preseason before we make any calls on that. I also want to see Issacs, Rosser, Miller and Baughman competing as hard as they can, as I feel our third wide receiver spot is still open for grabs depending on who impresses the most. Otherwise, I feel we're set on the rest of our team and with preseason, our goal is to get our engines running and to make sure all systems are ready for takeoff when we take to the skies in the regular season. We'll seek victory in every dog fight we get ourselves in.

It's all going to gradually come together between just getting on the field and playing games. I'm confident our moves this season give us that fighting chance. Though again, it seems my one weakness as a GM so far has been appointing leadership overall - thought Marshall and Howes would be a bit further along and I really seem to have missed the mark on Richards. I guess I might as well ask this Coach. From your years in college and the HIFL now, when it comes to identifying leadership, is it more often a matter of age and league experience or are just some guys cut from that cloth and able to lead better than others? I mainly ask as I do gradually plan on talking to some of our players throughout the year and try to identify people more fit for leadership roles for the future.

Its hard to know who's a strong leader.  Head Coaching interviews are a big key to fining out during the combine, but I can tell you for sure that Steven Jackson is a great leader naturally.

In our world leadership is rarely developed, you either have it or you don't, as a rookie or as a 12 year vet.

I appreciate the insight, Coach. It's good to know we can count on Jackson for one of our future leadership spots.

In the meantime, I am very excited to get the season underway but with that, I'll let you get back to it in practice. Any chance you can send up Michael Cervantes to see me on your way back? Thanks Coach.

But hey, we've got another one coming up, I'm sure you'll have your chances to top that performance. Anyway, keep up the good work out there and we'll touch base again soon. Thanks Miguel. Oh and if you'd be so kind, could you get Robert Marshall to come up and see me?

Robert, good to see you again, sir. Last year was an unfortunate, abrupt ending to the season but it seems that got you even more motivated. I heard very good things from the special bit of training we assigned for you with your accuracy and I just wanted to thank you for your hard work. Our offense has some hype to deliver on and I'm confident you, Steven, James, Forest and the rest of the offense are ready to take some big steps forward this year to do it.

Thanks for your time, gentlemen, I'll let you all get back to it. And Lavar, happy to hear on your boys getting contracts all over the league - it's well deserved all around.

Gentlemen, thanks for coming...I just wanted to reiterate what has been said to the press in regards of our WR3 position not being set in stone as of yet. I'll be getting together with the coaches to figure out the reps throughout the two preseason games we have and make an official decision on the rest of the chart by the time the regular season rolls around. Post by: GM Strike Guy on December 18, 2018, 11:53:42 PM
1. What did you gather from your preseason games?

We have made some improvements compared to last season and a pair of close games against two teams who made playoff appearances last season, even within a preseason environment, shows that we have the potential to match up against those teams. There were still a few kinks to iron out but I do believe games of the caliber that we had were the right amount of preparation for the season that is ahead of us.

2. How much stock do you put into your teams preseason performance?

I feel we have the potential to break out and compete in the North East this season on all aspects of the game, that's what I gathered out of our performances.

3. What is your primary and secondary goal this season, personally?

I definitely want to see us improve on last year's record and the other big thing is seeing our offense take that next big step and become the kind of force that no one can take their eyes off of.

4. Who impressed you the most on your own team in the pre-season?

Gotta give it to Steven Jackson - being able to put up two 100 plus yard games already in preseason shows that the man is ready to take the next big leap in his career and aiming to put up numbers bigger than his rookie campaign...and I, for one, am very excited to see the type of season SJAX is gonna have this year.

5. With the start of the season finally here, what do you expect from your players in week one?

To be ready for a fight. New Jersey may have had their drama throughout the offseason but I know Henry Stark as a GM...he's a fighter. No doubt that he's going to help instill that type of spirit into his team and with an excellent coaching staff on their end, the Dragons are going to be a challenge. I expect us to rise to the occasion, take it to the skies and show the HIFL that the Barons are ready to start the season with a W on the column.
