It wasn't our finest week, but we got out of there with a win, now if we can build on it by taking down Cleveland, we're still doing just fine.

Four personal fouls and some emotional play really cost us this week.. Our guys hate DC, but clearly we lost our composure out there.

TASK TWO
Question and Answer

1. Are you more into Offense or Defense?

2. Do you prefer to build through the draft or through free agency?

3. What position is the most important to building your ideal franchise?

4. What is your stance on talented players with off-field concerns?

5. On a scale of 1-10, how important is winning to you?

6. What is your number one goal coming into the league?

11
The High Impact Football League / Re: GM Combine Workshop

TASK ONE
Mock Press Conference
Answer each question individually, read the scenario for each before answering.

1. Your team just lost the first game of the season in an upset on a last second field goal after your quarterback threw an INT on 3rd down
"How do you insure your team bounces back after this disappointing start to the season?"

2. You are 9-5, with two divisional rival games remaining to close the season, each team is tied with a 9-5 record with only 1 playoff spot remaining.
"With two weeks remaining, how confident are you in your teams abilities to make the playoffs?"

3. Your star player was just lost for the season due to injury, your team is on the fringe of playoff contention despite high expectations coming into the season.
"Who has to step up now that you've lost arguably your teams best player?  Who do you look to now to lead this team?"

4. Controversy has struck!  Your team finds itself in the midst of an off-field scandal that could see your head coach forced to resign from the team.
"With news of your head coach's possible ties to sports betting and organized crime, do you feel that it is better to be proactive and terminate him or will you wait for him to step down?"

5. Your team is 15-1, and division champions.. Now you have lost in a blow out to a lesser team in the Conference Championship round, missing your bid to the Impact Bowl...
"Would you consider this season a success or a failure and how do you keep your team focused headed into the off-season now that you have completed such a magical season with such a crushing finale?"

The High Impact Football League / GM Combine Workshop
« on: May 20, 2018, 10:56:10 AM »
Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the HIFL's first ever General Manager Hiring Combine and Workshop.

Today we have hundreds of prospective general managers gathered for a series of interviews and exercises that will help determine who belongs in the front office of a HIFL Franchise, and who would be better suited for a job in the AAF or XFL.

We ask that each of you head to the stations around the facility and complete each task and submit it to the proper representative, once the combine concludes, our experts will confer and you may hear from one of the team owners around the league if they decide to offer you a job, or wish to continue the interview process in a more team-specific manor.

Good luck everyone.

OOC Boards / New GM's [Welcome, Advice, and Placement]
« on: May 20, 2018, 10:39:47 AM »
First of all to all our new GMs, Welcome to the site.

Hopefully you guys will enjoy our game and become a part of the HIFL community for seasons to come, and whether you're here for one season or 20, I look forward to the fun we'll all have here.

The advice I have to offer is simple.  Take your time, double-check your post before you hit send, and read the rules/updates and other relevant threads.  Some of the rules are later updated in future posts and I know it can be confusing, so if you have a question reach out to me or anyone else on the boards and ask.

Now, when it comes to teams, currently we have 5 mod-controlled teams.

Charlotte, St. Louis, Music City, Tombstone, and Cleveland.

Now, to determine which Gm's will land where initially (each team has their own traits/qualities they are looking for in a new hire), I'm going to do something different than usual.    In seasons past, everyone would just begin to interview in the team threads where they are interested in joining, however I'm going to change things up this time.  Think of it as a "GM Combine" of sorts.  I'll have some universal tasks for each prospective GM to complete and send to me via PM.  After I read through everyone's responses, I'll have the available teams that are interested in each GM reach out and offer a job.

Some GM's may receive more than one offer.  If you are playing this game because of one teams location/mascot/etc you're playing for the wrong reason, so hopefully you're all open to taking whatever job is available, as you can change the fortunes of a franchise rather quickly in this universe.

I'll leave this thread unlocked for the new GM's to introduce themselves and/or ask questions, as well as leaving it open for our current batch of guys to provide their own welcomes, advice, and comments.

Welcome to the show!

Yeah, after speaking with Coach Stone, here is what I know about the three you mentioned.

Bogan is playing well but still has conditioning improvements to make, but he really isn't happy being on the minor league roster.  Not that we think he deserves a starting job over our guys, but he is getting restless down there.  His biggest positive in my opinion is that he is able to play any position on the o-line in a competent manor.

Boyd Black has all the makings of a solid starter in this league. He needs to improve his tackling form and add some muscle as he continues to learn the defense, but he has the raw intangibles you want in a developing player.  He's a hard worker which is great to see as well. He compares really similarly to where Philip Johnson is at this stage of his development, so if you like PJ, then you'll like Boyd.

Morris has a great leadership qualities, and he has a good balance of arm talent and accuracy.  I don't know if he has franchise-QB potential, but he might... but he definitely has a spot on any HIFL roster as a back up or even a low-mid level starter right out of the gate.

I believe that they are capable, but are they consistent enough to bank on it?  I am not confident that we can just tell them "go get them" BUT that being said, with our linebackers being as athletic and fast as they are, especially Stevens, we could roll the dice this week.

45
General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM : NEW JERSEY DRAGONS

Soliz's biggest weakness is he was not blessed with closing speed.  He can easily be outrun, when he is in the lane with the ball carrier though he makes a solid tackle.

Roger on the other hand has great athleticism but his tackling is still suspect.  Both have a low football IQ that needs to improve greatly to really round them out.

46
General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM: RAPID CITY INFERNO

Both are coming along nicely, but neither is better than the guys they'd be trying to replace on the roster right now.  They would be great injury replacements if it came to it at corner or backer, but neither seems ready to make a leap into a full time starter job.
