Justin said that Eli and I were in cahoots and voted for Eli despite there being more votes on me - scummy according to you.

You said Justin and Eli are in cahoots but voted for Justin despite there being more votes on ELi - not scummy?

It's exactly the same thing.

I said Gooch and Eli is most likely town.

As I was typing my case on Justin, I noticed that there is potential there and thought it was interesting, so I noted it.

Don't necessarily think Eli is scum, but I would probably be interested in him if Justin flips scum.

3
Jon has done the exact same thing he's accused Justin of in the post where he voted for Justin. If Justin is worth a vote for doing it, why not Jon?

Then you didn't read the post accurately.

Time to submit those 2nd Quarter rankings! If possible, I'd like to post them tomorrow night, so the earlier the better!

5
Just out of curiosity, because I'm new at this game and I'm trying to at least begin to pick up how things are put together, if you believe that Justin and I are in cahoots so to speak (even though earlier you had said you think Gooch and I going back and forth is town v town) in the scenario you presented, why would you put your vote on Justin? I may be an idiot but wouldn't it be more logical to put your vote on the person that the votes are obviously starting to go in the direction of? I've already picked up Gooch and Metro's vote. You putting yours on me would put me at 3, and only in need of 2 more with what 5 left available?

Just seems like Justin is the odd choice to put a vote on if you're looking for more information.

If Justin doesn't keep his vote on me this round, though, I suppose that might add support to that claim? I don't know. Just confused as to why you'd go that direction.

And as I was about to post that I see Justin just put his vote on me again.

I don't necessarily think you are scum. But my reaction to Justin being scum was based on his Day 2 post but as I was typing, it sparked a thought.

6
In case that didn't count for forgetting the "n".

I don't disagree that their definitely could be a 3rd Party in this game, but no evidence in the write ups suggest as such and it's definitely not Frank Castle.

The whole Eli and Gooch back and forth screams more town v town then anything else... as they are just purely finger pointing with no real substance in their accusations. But if anyone is scum out of them, my bet is Eli.

And it's because of his attachment to Justin. Hear me out here.

I called out the inactive Day 1 posters, which Justin was apart of.

With Kirk already having two votes... Justin says this.

I understand your point on this, but don't think Powers would really do it.

I'm inclined to think Eli and Kirk are in cahoots and they are trying to appear on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Vote: Eli

When questioned on why if he thought both were in cahoots, would he vote Eli instead of being a 3rd vote on Kirk (who turns out to be presumably found town by Gooch in a Day Cop role given to him). He said this...

Because I don't think Pancho will stick with his vote which leaves only Eli voting for Kirk and he's going to stick his vote there to make him look less suspect.

This just didn't make any sense to me. So here is my case on the matter.

Justin and Eli have not seen eye to eye with each other since Day 2 pretty much. If I'm right on Justin being scum, then he knows by voting Kirk, it's a vote on a townie (if we believe Gooch and that his result is accurate). So he instead turns to his scummate Eli. By driving a wedge between them early, it gives off a nice separation technique. They didn't account for losing Gates so soon though. But still allows the survivor of the two to use all the gameplay posting to try and show their township.

Maybe I'm reaching here. Maybe not.

I do think Justin is scum though.

“Starr, can you call in Coach Graham please”

———

“Hey Coach, another important victory! Who would’ve thought we’d be sitting where we are at the halfway point. Just want to thank you and the rest of the coaching staff for a fantastic job thus far. We’ve got teams breathing down our neck though, so we have to continue this impressive run. Tulsa is a tough team, but if we can hold Allen in check, it gives us a great shot at leaving there with the W. Don’t think we change anything up offensively unless you see fit.”

SEATTLE LUMBERJACKS
PRESS CONFERENCE

WEEK 9

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

"This was a grind 'em out game and our players rose to the occasion in the big moments. Long Beach game in here determined and gave us one heck of a battle, but there isn't a team I trust more in the fourth quarter then this team right here. The big pass and catch from Brew to Pierce for the game winner and the defense just continually making big play after big play. Lightner with another HUGE game and honestly... I felt he was snubbed for the Defensive Player of the Week award. While we won the game though, we need to play more sound if we're going to be able to keep this winning streak going. We had some dumb penalties that cost us during the game, including a touchdown I think. But overall, can't nitpick too much when you're on a four game winning streak."

2. Give us an evaluation of the first half of the season for your team, who has stood out both good and bad?

"We've had a great first half of the season. Sitting at 6-2, atop of the standings... it's a testament to the hard work this team put in during the offseason. We felt like nobody was taking this team serious and we came into this season with a chip on our shoulder and something to prove. It's been fun as hell watching it. McKenzie Lightner is the player that has stood out to me in a good way. Now in his sophomore season, he built on his rookie season and has took his game to the next level. A huge reason we've been this successful. I wouldn't say this next player has stood out in a bad way... but I think we'd like to see him show why we brought him here in the offseason. That guy is Hugh Ulrich. We know the type of talent he possesses and it can be a difficult transition moving cities and teams and coaching staffs. But if we're going to be a serious playoff contender, we're going to need Hugh at his best and I know he can get there."

3. With where you sit in the standings, how do you feel about your chances of meeting your owners expectations and how do you grade your performance as GM, what about your job security?

"I think Mr. Reigns is grinning ear to ear right now. We've either met all the current expectations or am currently meeting them. We've exceeded last season't record, we're currently averaging just over 26 points per game, we beat Portland at home, and we beat Rapid City and Lincoln to boot. I would like to do more with getting the re-branding of the Lumberjack name out there, but winning football games has a tendency to do that for us. I'm not worried about job security... I'm worried about making this team a top contender for the foreseeable future."

4. Who is your league-wide Mid-season MVP?  Who has been the most surprising under performer?

"Right now for me, it's Merv Patton. This guy gets labeled as a game manager by the media, but all this guy does is put up eye popping numbers. He's led Orlando to 6-2 at the break and it's about time he gets some MVP recognition. As for an under performer, I'd say it's GM Dazz. He leaves Cleveland to join a better team that I created and broke up the coaching staff, acquired league sanctioned fines, and hasn't truly capitalized playing in a weak division. The only thing is though, I guess I'm not surprised by the under performance though."

5. Which of your division rivals has surprised you the most? How and Why?

"Has to be St. Louis. A Coach Tarr led team with the defense that they've built over there is creating all kinds of havoc for the rest of the teams in this league, let alone our division. We're looking forward to facing that type of challenge twice a season though."

6. With the Trade Deadline coming up this week, Do you see yourself as a buyer, a Seller, or do you plan to hold fast with what you have?

"I think it's easy for some to think we should be buyers in our position. First place and attempting to maintain that position despite the big guns in our division breathing down our necks. While I won't say we won't listen to offers, I will say that I'm really happy with what we've got."

7. What is your opinion on the league's newly announced luxury tax rule, do you believe it is fair, and do you believe it will benefit the league?

"I think it's the right progression for the league. If teams want to go "all in" then there is a price that has to be paid for taking that type of risk and advantage over teams that remain within the salary cap."

8. Talk about your game this upcoming week, what do you need to focus on most?

"We travel to Oklahoma to face the Tulsa Celtics. I know they've been stumbling a bit this season, but you always have to be prepared on the road and facing a running back like Christopher Allen. On paper, it's probably a game we should win, but there is no easy games in the HIFL. Just like Long Beach played us tough, I know Tulsa will be eager to try and knock us from the top. We're looking forward to this one... and Go Jacks!"

Sorry guys, was away at a Family reunion camping and am back now.

I think it's pretty pointless to have an argument about what good day 1 conversation is. It allows two players to take up the majority of posting and leaving the rest to just sit and watch as the day phase came to a close.

I don't think either way we get anywhere near a Day 1 lynch, but I don't want to see players just get back with just a check in post and adding nothing to the game.

Unless anyone has anything of substance to go off of, we're right back to where we were Day 1 and now down the Town Cop.

Pancho and Powers: You're both pride ridden players who love to win an argument or at least see it out to its conclusion. Nothing really screams scum about either of your play in Day 1, but at the same time... I could see you both creating a scene like that to distract. I'm linking you both for the time being.

Digger/Justin/Rebel/Metro/Gates: 1 check in post is all ya'll did in Day 1. I think it's fairly obvious scum is among this group.

I'm going to begin with those 5 names as I'd like to see their reasoning for only a check in post adn to also engage them in some Day 2 banter. Let's start with...

Vote: Gates

16
Have we not evolved enough to where conversation on Day 1 is a good thing and not a bad thing?

Gooch is always a difficult read because you could hand the man a bag full of crap and he’d try to look at the positive side of it. He’s also a really easy person to target for an early lynch  because he probably hurts himself more by trying to defend his actions.

17

"Hey McKenzie, just wanted to talk with you and let you know how impressed I've been with your play this season. You've really stepped up and taken a leap with your production as you and the rest of the secondary have really made it tough on opposing quarterbacks this year and is a huge reason for the success we've had to this point. I really just wanted to applaud your hard work over the offseason and taking it to another level this season. It has not gone unnoticed."

I'm potentially turning the wheels on some trade talks, but I'm not going to overpay because we're not really in a position to do that at this time.

Let's turn our attention to the loss of Rose over the next few weeks. I have three/four players in mind that could fill the role for the time being. The obvious choice is Devon Kruse, who has been backing up Rose. Our other two options would be Eric Scott or James Milton/Billy Faison. Who do you feel works best while Rose is nursing the broken jaw injury to slot into the starting free safety spot?"

"It feels good doesn't it Coach!? We have Long Beach coming into town next and I can't help but think this is a great opportunity to head into the halfway point with not only six wins, but that sweet slice of first place, like you said. Long Beach has a stout defense though, so this is by no means a cake walk, but if we continue playing like we have been... I see no reason why we shouldn't win this game at home. It'll come down to shutting down their run game and making Wright throw the ball to our opportunistic secondary, even though the loss of Rose hurts. I'll talk to Coach Collier on what we can do to fill his position, but we also need to figure out why we are struggling with our run defense, despite focusing on stopping it. In fact, let's also bring in all the coaches for this meeting. Let's see if we can't iron this gameplan out.

*WAITS FOR THE REST OF THE COACHING STAFF TO ARRIVE*

"Thanks for coming up to the office gentlemen. First off... great win out there this past week. We really brought it against D.C. despite not playing our best due to the conditions. I was just speaking to Coach Graham about our inability in stopping the opposing run game despite our gameplan focusing on stopping it. Is it a personal issue? Do we need to mix things up? If anyone has any ideas, the floor is yours."

SEATTLE LUMBERJACKS
PRESS CONFERENCE

WEEK 8

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

"What can I say? Wasn't that fun? The saying is that it always REIGNS in the Quist! This was vintage, smashmouth style football in the mud. There was issues all game from the special teams on our team and theirs, so it didn't surprise me that in the end, it came down to a special teams play to decide the game. This was an emotional game for me personally and I know the guys wanted to go out there and deliver me the victory and it means a whole of a lot to me to scribble the "W" on this game in the schedule. Strange isn't even the word to use to describe the odd feeling of coaching against the guys that have meant a lot to my professional career and  guys that I've grown close with through my tenure in D.C., now that we've done battle, I hope it's them and us in the Impact Bowl. How much fun would that be?

Getting back to the game... we played our asses off. We made big plays when we needed them the most and in the end, it was enough to walk out with the victory. Our run game was working like it has all season, but credit to D.C. for being the first team to really contain The Classic this season. But Kirby stepped up to the plate and delivered big run after big run. How about that Brewster to Pierce connection that resulted in the winning touchdown? Amazing! And the defense... the Sheed sack safety, Lightner all over the place, and Sanderson for forcing the fumble on the big hit. You want to see a team that wins together... look no further then this group right here. Can't say enough about the guys that strap up a Lumberjacks helmet. This has the makings to be a really special season due to their hard work and pure guts and heart.

As for the bad... we've gotten word that Rose is going to miss some time. He took a nasty shot to the head away from the play and looks like he might have broken his jaw. Obviously his loss is crushing to this defense, but I know Sam is going to lead even when he can't be on the field."

2. Talk about this weeks league news, what stood out most to you? (cover at least two topics)

"I have touch up on this Sasser news that has been spreading like wildfire on Twitter and ESPN. This is a crock of shit, pardon my french. The kid plays his heart out for that city and for that team and has won countless of games for me in my four plus seasons while I was the General Manager of the Cobras. He deserves better than what he got post game from the media and fans. I don't care how good of a kicker you are... in those conditions... it's a crap shoot at best. So now he's accused as "gift wrapping" the game... Sasser is no cheater folks and I guarantee he wanted that win as bad anybody else, because he's as fierce of a competitor that I've seen in this sport.

It's tough not to comment on what has happened in Atlanta with former owner Maximum Crowe resigning. All season long it's seemed like him and GM Lucas were heading down a path that would ultimately lead to what occurred. I'm not sure why Mr. Crowe decided not to fire GM Lucas a long time ago or why he hired him in the first place. But I'm sure it's something he now regrets and it's a sad situation for the city of Atlanta. I'd like to see the new ownership stick it out in that football hungry city and maybe give GM Lucas a shot at running the team his way or if not, going another direction in that GM role."

3. How did you feel about the first annual HIFL/NCAA Showcase?  Do you feel like it was a beneficial addition to the league?

"Our coaching staff and scouting staff put a lot of time and effort in trying to get the most information that we could from the showcase. I think it's an amazing addition that was created by Commissioner Wilkinson and I hope it sticks around for the foreseeable future. We're looking forward to building on the work we did here at the combine."

4. What was your take on the amount of GM errors that occurred during the bye-week?

"For some of the GM's that made the errors, it wasn't that big of a surprise... but a few others I was definitely shocked by. This just goes to show you how tough this job is and how careful we need to be whenever we move pieces, no just in the offseason, but in the middle of the season as well. Mistakes are meant to be learned from, so I hope that's the case here."

5. Do you plan on making any call ups this week before locking in?

"That's a good question... I'm not entirely sure. I think we'll probably stay as is, but it's something the coaches and I will discuss as we plan for the week ahead."

6. Talk about your game this upcoming week.

"We get to stay home and host the Long Beach Mermen. They are coming off a tough loss against the Kings, but we can't get complacent here. We have a good opportunity to head into the halfway point at 6-2 and atop of the division. The key will be to slow down their run game enough with Belanger, to force them to go into the air where our defense has been forcing turnovers. They have a tough defense, but I know Classic and Kirby are up for the challenge and Brew will be waiting to expose their secondary if they cheat the run. Should be a fun game... and Go Jacks!"

"Love that attitude. Keep up the great work and I can't wait to see us lock down D.C. this week."

-----

"Starr, can you call up Coach Graham for me please."

"Alright Coach, just wanted to touch base with you really quick before locking in. D.C. made a few moves and luckily for us, also got penalized by the league for something their new GM scoffed up. Plus for us! I always like it when we're about to play a team that makes a ton of moves to destroy cohesion and chemistry, plus I'm sure the morale in that locker room isn't the best right now. I think it's something we can definitely take advantage of. Do you see anything we need to tweak outside of what we discussed already given their moves, or are you content with the game plan set forth?"

“Sounds like the work you’ve put in is showing on the field. I absolutely love the style we play because it keeps the defense guessing. Not only do they have to account for our strong run game, but also you back there passing. It’s a huge part of our success so far. Well Brew, you enjoy the bye week and we’ll see you back next week ready to give D.C. an asswhooping.”

“Starr, can you call in Sam Rose please.”

“Hey Sam, just wanted to call you in here and check up on you and the defense during this bye week. Y’all have been playing lights out for us and it has not gone unnoticed. Especially in the secondary where you guys are flying all over the place making plays. As our defensive captain, how do you feel the defense is geling together?”

"That's a good thing Coach. To beat a team with as much talent across the board as D.C., you can't be scared to challenge them. On both sides of the ball! I'll let you get with the team and begin prepping them for the big primetime game. I'm gonna take this bye week to check in with a few players, so if you have anything pressing, just let me know Coach."

"Starr, can you call in William Brewster for me."

"Hey Brew, it's the bye week and I haven't had a chance to chat yet since you returned from your injury. You look good back there... how you feeling back on the field?"
