It definitely wasn't easy, but for me I believe the biggest value proposition was trading him.  Glad that we are on the same page.  Well, I will let you go and I'm going to relax a bit and wait on the showcase.

Chandler was definitely a big move to bolster the defense and hopefully put more pressure on the QB so that we can lessen the pressure on our secondary.  As it relates to Craig, I originally didn't have plans on moving him, but GM Gooch made me an offer.  My thinking behind it wasn't a "rebuild" type of move in my eyes, instead it was an insurance and depth move.  What I mean by that is the two offensive linemen prospects are legit and are insurance in case Britt and/or Schmitt leave in free agency.  We have them to fill in those spots.  Dalton's production is paltry thus far, but he's hidden on the depth chart and if I'm not mistaken St. Paul runs a lot of nickel defense.  Will he replicate the production of Craig...probably not, but I do believe he will be able to hold is own.  Also, we got a couple of high round draft picks that we will be able to further build our foundation.

Sorry for the rambling, but I hope that makes sense.

Glad to hear it.  Keep up the great work.  Enjoy the break and let's come back and make some noise.

Ms. Dossey, can you get me in touch with Coach Rhodes.

Coach, as you know Tim Collier will be out for the rest of the season.  If we add a receiver what type/metrics are you looking for?

Thank you for confirming that.  Can you get me in touch with Tim Collier please.

Tim, I am disappointed about the injury news and I know you are as well.  Our main concern right now is you get to feeling better and come back stronger next year.  Just know that we are here for you and support you.

Yeah, it's disappointing, but I'm confident he will come back strong.  I will let you get back to preparations while I handle a couple of things.

Ms. Dossey, I've made a mistake or two in my past as it relates to making roster moves so I'm hoping you can help keep me straight.  Now, I've combed through my handy HIFL rule book and for the life of me I can't find exact information about placing a player on IR.  If I place Collier on IR I know it will open a roster spot, but his salary still counts against the books, correct?  Also, since I signed Richard Taylor to our minor league team, can I bring him up to the main roster now or do I have to wait until the next "call-up" window?

Dak has proven that he can run the offense.  Just two weeks ago he was the league wide Offensive Player of the Week.  With that being said, Dak knows and understands that he has to be more consistent with his performances.  Depending on James' health we might have to add a third quarterback to the roster for insurance purposes.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

-This was a rough week.  We struggled mightily against a team, in all honesty, we should have beat.  Our defense got scorched, we turned the ball over, couldn't get anywhere with the passing game, and didn't get much pressure on the QB.  Not to mention we were terrible on third down.  We did pretty well running the ball, but not a lot else.

2. Talk about this weeks league news, what stood out most to you?

Good ol' GM Franchise and almost having his team in the wrong place.  Classic Franchise.

3. What do you make of the news of the newest GM's to join the league? What advice would you give them?

I think it's great.  It's always good to see new blood around.  My advice to them is to be themselves and construct their team how they see fit.  Secondly, I would encourage them to build a strong working relationship with their coaching staff.

4. With the draft class being announced later this week, do you plan to target personalities, skill sets, or position groups at the college showcase?

For me, target positions will be what I'm laser focused on.

5. What do you hope to gain most this week during the bye week, for yourself but also for your team?

A chance for some of our guys to get healthy and rest. We are still in the thick of things and we have to make sure we remain focused and work on improving ourselves.

The money would have to be $1.75mm.  Because of the pay reduction I am willing to decrease the years to just 1 so that at the end of the season he can hit free agency.

That's great news.  Thanks for your time Deion.

Ms. Dossey, can you get me in touch with Drew Leventhal please.

Drew, I wanted to reach out to you and let you know that I plan on cutting Ronald Roberson, unless he'd be willing to restructure his contract and get moved down to our minor league affiliate.  I am going to be in need of a roster spot and this will hopefully allow Ronald to find somewhere that he will see more playing time, whether it's with a new team or our minor league team.

It was one hell of a fourth quarter.  I'm glad to see our offense put up the numbers they did.  If we can be consistent on offense and most of our games have a similar output then we will be very hard to beat.  Our run defense was great as well.  Just an all-around great effort.  Both rookie receivers really stepped up and a had big games, Leroy Brown was huge and Dak was outstanding. This is very encouraging, coach.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

-That's what I call a good ol' ass cuttin' right there.  Our guys came out and balled all game.  We had a tough run defense, put the pressure on the QB, and our offense was humming right a long.  We had quite a few fumbles, which we will have to work on, but overall it was a great game.  Unfortunately O'Rourke got hurt again, but Dak did an amazing job of stepping in and leading this team to victory and the HIFL Week 5 Offensive Player of the Week.

2. Talk to us about your upcoming game this week.  What will be the toughest thing to prepare for this week?

-We have Atlanta and though their record isn't too pretty, we will not take them lightly.  They have the weapons on offense and a pretty good defense to win at any given time.  We have to go out and execute like we did this week on both offense and defense and limit the turnovers.  If we can do that I believe we will be just fine.

Thanks for your time coach, I will let you get back to practice.

Ms. Dossey, before we lock in can I speak with all of our receivers.

Gentlemen, I will cut straight to the chase.  Our drops are killing us on offense.  They are stalling drives, keeping us from scoring, and leaving our defense out on the field too much.  I understand that everyone has a bad game every now and then, but fellas, we are dropping the ball at an alarming rate.  I know you guys are all professionals and I am sure you all are just as disappointed about them as I am.  I'm not here to call out any individual, but as a group we have to improve and improve now.  I trust that you guys will work through the struggles and right this ship because if we can figure this out then our offense can really soar.

Agreed coach.  Hopefully with O'Rourke back our offense can pick back up and take some pressure off of our defense.  Speaking of defense, how do you feel our guys are progressing so far on that side of the ball?

« on: April 17, 2018, 08:19:19 AM »

Very well then.  Looks like we should have O'Rourke back for this weeks game.  That should be a boost to the passing game.  We will move back to the 65/35 ratio as well.  Other than the drops, do you have any other concerns about the offense at the moment?

46
General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM : OAKLAND SILVERBACKS

Gotcha, coach.  What do you think of possibly moving Leroy Brown in the slot on certain packages?  Think that could help the passing game?

General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM : OAKLAND SILVERBACKS
« on: April 11, 2018, 08:07:40 PM »

Understood coach.  And yes, the drops are killing us.  I believe we could be in a lot better position if we can just catch the ball and keep drives going.  I'm at a loss for words at the moment, I'm not sure what we can do to improve.  Is there anything you can think of or is it something that we just have to pray gets better as the season carries on?
