BREAKING NEWS: NORWOOD CHOOSES SHARKS, CITES LOYALTY

Charlotte, N.C. -- Mario Norwood has decided to resume his basketball career in Jacksonville after agreeing to a 2 year deal worth $5 million per season with the Sharks.  When asked why he chose the Sharks over other teams, specifically his former team Charleston, he had this to say;

"I'm a young cat, but my parents always taught me the value of loyalty and I believe GM Gooch and the Jacksonville Sharks embody loyalty.  They've been interested in me from the very beginning.  I enjoyed my time in Charleston, but I didn't hear from them until like day four or five of free agency.  Didn't seem like they really wanted me and I was an afterthought.  But I'm excited about this new move and look forward to stepping on the court in Jacksonville".

BREAKING NEWS: GM BLACK DEATH STRIKES AGAIN!!

Charlotte, N.C. -- GM Black Death is making his presence felt in the Supreme Basketball Alliance.  A day after forcing GM Kirk and the Coyotes match a max contract for Ales Long, which many believed to be overpriced, GM Black Death is forcing to more general managers to decide whether or not they want to open their wallets.  Both Brian Neal and Victor Tahid have signed offer sheets with the Birmingham Rattlers.  Neal's deal is for a reported 4 years $13 million per season, while Tahid's is 3 years worth $10 million per season.

BREAKING NEWS: WOW!!! BURGESS AGREES TO OFFER SHEET WITH SAN DIEGO!!

Charlotte, N.C. -- If the max contract for Ales Long was not enough excitement for you, GM Bennett just umped the ante.  The San Diego Swan general manager has signed restricted free agent Rob Burgess to an offer sheet of 4 years, $15 million per season and $1.5 million PR per season!!  This news will surely send shockwaves through the league and will have other free agents taking notice of the big contracts that have been signed thus far.  GM Bone is on the clock.

BREAKING NEWS: LONG SIGNS OFFER SHEET WITH RATTLERS!!  WILL GM KIRK MATCH?

Charlotte, N.C. -- GM Black Death, long been known as a GM not shy to spend big, has provided a shockwave throughout the league.  He has loosened up the purse strings once again and has gotten Ales Long to sign an offer sheet for a max contract of 4 years, $22 million per season, and $3 million PR per season.  GM Kirk and the Albuquerque Coyotes have 36 hours to determine if they will match the contract offered by Birmingham.  GM Kirk, known to be on the opposite side of GM BD and a more frugal spender, has the basketball world waiting his decision.

BREAKING NEWS: IT'S OFFICIAL.  BROOKHART WILL REMAIN A CRAWFISH

Charlotte, N.C. -- All-world point guard Cory Brookhart will re-sign with the Charleston Crawfish.  Despite multiple offers, Brookhart never signed an offer sheet with another team and decided that he will call Charleston home for another four seasons.  His agent, Nigel Falls, had this to say, "Cory is from North Carolina and decided that staying close to his family was important to him and was a major factor in his decision.  He is also willing to give GM Lucas a shot at building the Crawfish into a perennial contender.  He is excited to get back to work."

My sources tell me the final contract details are 4 years, $22 million per season and $5.5 million PR per season.

BREAKING NEWS: CRAWFISH LOOK TO RETAIN BROOKHART ON MAX CONTRACT

Charlotte, N.C. -- Cory Brookhart, arguably the best overall player in the Supreme Basketball Alliance, will potentially remain with the Charleston Crawfish.  A restricted free agent, GM Lucas didn't leave any doubt he wanted the superstar to remain on the team and didn't give a team a chance to force his hand by letting Brookhart agree to an offer sheet with another team. The Crawfish general manager opened up the wallet as the deal is reported to be for 4 years, $22 million per season and $3 million PR per season.  There has been speculation that at least two teams would have offered Brookhart the max to see if GM Lucas was going to match, but GM Lucas beat everyone to the punch and offered a max deal within the opening minutes of free agency.

SBA News and Info / Free Agency Mechanics
« on: August 13, 2018, 11:06:56 AM »
There are two types of free agents in the Supreme Basketball Alliance; restricted and unrestricted.  An unrestricted free agent is able to sign with any team he so chooses.  A restricted free agent's rights are still owned by their current team, which gives that team a chance to match any contract offer the player agrees to with a different team.  For example; if Player A is a restricted free agent who played for the Charleston Crawfish, agrees to a contract with the Denver Peaks for 2 years $10mm per season, the Crawfish have the opportunity to match that contract.  If they choose to do so, Player A has to sign with the Crawfish if he wants to play for the upcoming season.

In the previously announced free agent class, restricted free agents are highlighted in orange.

All free agent offers, both restricted and unrestricted, will be made via PM.  Send your PM with the following subject line: TEAM NAME: FREE AGENT OFFERS.  When you submit your offers, you have the ability to make a pitch if you would like.  It is not required.  Some players only care about the money so they don't care what you say to them.  Others wouldn't mind hearing how you plan to use them on your team.  The choice is yours on whether you submit a pitch or not.

For restricted free agents, the team that owns the rights will be notified that their player has agreed to a contract with another team and will be given the details of the deal.  The team will have 36 hours to decide if they want to match the contract or renounce their rights to the player by not matching the contract.

As always, let me know if you have any questions.
