Ha, sorry about that coach.  I'll circle back around with you once we lock in.

Coach Rhodes, other than what the stats tell us from a numbers stand point, how do you think Carr looked in the preseason?

Absolutely coach.  Do they have any major weaknesses on defense that we can exploit?

1. What did you gather from your preseason games?

We are strong in some areas and need improvement in others.  We have a lot of new guys on the team so it will obviously take some time to gel and get things flowing how we really want them to.  But the biggest thing is we have to catch the damn ball.

2. How much stock do you put into your teams preseason performance?

We played our starters so I take a lot of stock in these games, but as I just mentioned, I know its going to take our guys time to really gel before we are operating to our fullest potential

3. What is your primary and secondary goal this season, personally?

Primary is to be better than we were last year and make it past the first round of the playoffs.  Secondary goal, is to win the division.  I believe we have the talent, it's just about putting it all together.

4. Who impressed you the most on your own team in the pre-season?

I was impressed by Christopher Chandler.  I think some people might have kind of written him off because of his age, but in two games he had 7 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks and a 1 FF.  He really shined this preseason and if he continues that type of play in the regular season our defensive line is going to have a great year.

5. With the start of the season finally here, what do you expect from your players in week one?

To be fully prepared and execute.  We play San Antonio so we have a chance to make a statement right out of the gate.

That is definitely a great start.  Alright coach, that will be all for now.  I will let you get back to practice.

Ms. Dossey, can you please notify Alberto Kidwell that the Oakland Silverbacks will be retiring his #89 jersey.  I'm not sure the proper protocol since he is an assistant coach for another team, but we will have a ceremony for him during half-time of our second pre-season game and would like for him to come.  So please extend the invitation.

Also please release the following statement to the press.

"It is with great honor that the Oakland Silverbacks recognize one of the greatest players in franchise history, Alberto Kidwell.  Mr. Kidwell's passion for the game of football was infectious and was on display every time he stepped onto the gridiron.  This franchise and it's loyal fans were blessed to have Mr. Kidwell as part of our franchise and we truly appreciate his dedication to the Oakland Silverbacks and to the Oakland, California community.  We will honor Mr. Kidwell during our second pre-season game and will retire his #89 jersey.  Mr. Kidwell, the Oakland Silverbacks are forever grateful for your time with our franchise and with the retirement of your jersey, you will forever be remembered."

Yeah, I drafted Stands in Music City so I know he's a possession receiver, which I'm hoping will help us since we have the speed guys.

Last question for you coach, how is Chandler looking? I know he's 30 years old, but do you think he can still be a double digit sack guy?  I know we traded for him mid-year last season, so I'm hoping a full training camp with the entire line will help his production.

I understand you completely.  I've mad a couple of trades to try and improve our team in the secondary and at receiver.  We got Milliken and Eddie Stands.    I'm not quite done, I've tried to contact my colleague Mr. Greenside through one of the league's communication channels, Discord, but to no avail.  But that's neither here or there.

Do you feel those two guys at least upgrade our team in those positions?

1. Use three words to classify how your off-season went, and explain.

Reload, retool, and progress.  We reloaded ourselves at certain positions, most notably on the offensive line by bringing back Britt and Schmitt.  We've retooled some of our roster by changing quarterbacks, adding to our linebacker and receiving groups.  And I believe that we have progressed forward.  Like all teams, we have some areas that we would like to continue to improve on, but I believe as a team we have progressed from last year.

2. Coming out of training camp, where do you rank your team in the division, in the conference, and in the league?

San Antonio and Las Vegas have proven over the past couple of seasons that they are the teams to beat in our division so they get the preseason honors of being the top two in the conference.  However, I believe that our team has the personnel and schemes needed to challenge both teams and beat them.  I believe we are a better team than last season and can challenge both of them for the division crown.  Our conference has some very quality teams and some teams have made some big strides, such as Seattle with some of the moves they have made.  We proved last year when no one gave us a chance, that we belong as one of the better teams in our conference and will continue to move forward as such.  As far as the league goes, as I mentioned before every team has their weaknesses and areas of opportunities.  For our team, I believe if we can continue to train and improve as the season progresses that we will make the playoffs again and improve on last years results.

3. Do you have any position battles planned for the preseason?  Which jobs are up for grabs and what do you hope to gain from the preseason games?

The biggest battle will be at receiver to see who gets the most snaps.  We are young and a little inexperienced overall at the position, but we are fast and have guys with tremendous playmaking abilities which makes me excited.  I think those guys are hungry to prove themselves and will push each other in the preseason and during the season to help each other get better.

PR CAMPAIGNS

Clifford Barbour ($500K) - "Cliffhanger"
-Billboard with Barbour outside of the stadium in full uniform and a football tucked under this arm.  Video montage of Barbour's most exciting plays that plays on the video board in the stadium.

Roy Roberts ($500K) - "The Roving Ranger"
-This nickname is based off of Roy's ability to play almost anywhere on the field.  A portion of stadium seating will be converted to "The Rangers" section where fans will be given ranger masks each home game to wear during the game and cheer the team on.

Talon Wilkinson II ($500K) - "Feed The Beast"
-This tagline is a play off of offensive linemen trying to make a pancake block.  Given TWII's size and strength he's eating blockers and not getting knocked down.  He feeds off of the contact.  T-Shirts with TWII's face with his mouth open in a yelling/growling manner with "Feed The Beast" on the shirt will be given out at all home games.

John Young ($500K) - "The Jet"
-Speed is important and John Young is the fastest player in the HIFL.  The Hangar will be constructed in one of the concourses where fans can test their 40-yard dash time.

William Dalton ($500K) - The Danger Zone
-William has shown that he is a play maker on defense and that attacking him can prove costly for an offense.  There we will be a seating section on the opposite side of the stadium from "The Rangers" for fans to cheer on their favorite player.

John Carr ($250K) - "The Butcher"
-The nickname "The Butcher" is given because of Carr's ability to carve up defenses with his passing and accuracy.  Bobblehead dolls that have Carr dressed in a black jersey with "The Butcher" printed across the front in silver.  They will be made available in the team shop.

GM Bennett, our team sheet is attached.  There are a couple of things we need to discuss.  First of all, your contract is guaranteed for two years and the ultimate goal is to make the playoffs by the end of the second year.  Your goal for this season is to FINISH WITH A WINNING RECORD.  With that out of the way, we need to talk business.  You unfortunately exceeded the PR cap by $1.2 million.  Due to that, we will be hit with a $4 million penalty to our PR cap for Season 5 and will have to get under the cap before we lock-in for this current regular season.  Needless to say Mr. Gaslamp isn't too happy about this, especially given the fact that the team hasn't had much success in the league and now this.  He's a comedian and only likes his jokes to be laughed at.  He expects you to fix this problem that you've created without gutting the team.  I know that was a lot, but good luck this season and I am always here if you need me.
