Just throwing this out there because Talon's post made me think of this. If it's possible that there is a vanilla-izer, could it be possible that Gooch WAS a Jester and his role was switched on him to prevent him hitting his wincon? Not sure if that's even a possibility but I figured I'd ask. Only reason I question it being Gooch just tossing in the towel is that he said something along the lines of "you guys are jerks" after he had a few votes on him right after his initial post in the QT that seemed to be trying to draw a vote onto him.

"Alright. Give me a minute."

Eli gets on his beautiful MacBook Pro because he's not a savage that still uses a Windows PC and begins to type out the apology for Matthew to read to the media. After concluding, he glances at the contents which read as follows.

Good Afternoon. As everyone is aware a situation arose after our loss to the Las Vegas Scorpions between myself and the owner of the Mustangs organization, Ace Profits. After much thought, contemplation and soul searching I have come to the conclusion that I did not respond appropriately. At this time I would like to apologize to Ace Profits for my unprofessional and disrespectful behavior. I responded hastily, while the emotions of a tough loss against a quality opponent were still fresh and understand that I have a responsibility to this organization, the Mustangs fan and the community of North East Ohio as a role model, to lead by example. I am proud to be a part of this franchise, this team, and this community and will continue to give my all in pursuit of the ultimate goal of bringing an Impact Bowl victory to Northeast Ohio. Thank you.

Having checked everything over, Eli printed the statement and then stood and handed it over to Matthew, placing a comforting hand on the players shoulder.

"Whenever you're ready, we can get this over with."

"Listen, kid. This situation got out of hand. But it can be walked back and you can go back to being a part of a team in the hunt for the playoffs. If you want to be a part of this team, you're going to have to apologize for what happened and do it publicly. Now I know that's going to go against everything your instincts are telling you to do. But apologizing will do a few things for you. Number one, it will get the fans back on your side. It takes a real man to own up to when he mishandled a situation. And I'm not going to say that you were wrong to feel the way you did, but we both went about expressing it wrong. If that's the course you want to go, then I'll be right there at your side when you do it.

If that's not the way you want to go, then this organization is going to move on without you. That's not what I want. I've stated it multiple times that I want you on this roster. I believe in you. But if you can't bring yourself to do that, then I can respect that. Either way, kid, I understand."

Any changes you would like to make on either side of the ball? "Ace, I'm not saying that you don't make good points. I'm well aware of who the owner is and I believe I have been respectful of that to a certain extent. I've been forthright and honest throughout this entire ordeal. What I've said to the media, I've said to you. What I've said to you, I've said to the players as well. So let's get down to the heart of this issue, shall we? You and I have had a solid working relationship up until this point so it's my suggestion that we try to see if there is a way for us to get beyond this. If there is not, then I'll turn in my credentials.

At the heart of all of this, it comes down to Matthew Graham. You believe he was disrespectful to you on social media and I won't argue that point with you. But, he took what you said after the Scorpions game to be a slight against him. Publicly. A young kid who is doing his best to fill in the shoes of a man who holds the respect of many, if not all, in this league in James Taylor. Have their been some growing pains? Sure. But he had just come off of his best performance of the year. I don't need to recite the statistics to you from that game and all a kid like that is going to hear is none of the good that you did mattered, one bad play and the man at the top of this organization, who holds his fate in his hands, went out and insulted him by saying someone ELSE would have made the play. It's a slap to his face.

Now maybe he didn't handle himself properly in response. That's probably my fault in trying to get him to channel that anger onto the playing field. But the kid deserves a second chance. You suspended him for a game for his words. And at the end of the game against San Antonio what happened? A fifty yard touchdown pass when we were up late in the fourth. It's my belief that if Matthew Graham was on the field, that play doesn't happen. You believed in me enough to hand the reigns over to me. You trusted me enough to do that. Let the suspension be the end of this kids punishment. Trust me on this one. In the end that's what I'm asking for. Is that something that YOU can do as the owner? Trust me to lead this team? Because if it's not then, truth be told, I should hand my credentials over right now."

"I appreciate the support of Justin, Thad and my fellow general managers, as well as the fans and the players in the Mustangs organization. I can also understand Koba's response to the matter, not wanting to get involved in another teams internal issues that are being made public. But in the end this is not about the other general managers or owners of this league. It comes down to whether or not I'm going to have the final say over this roster, as all of my peers have with theirs. Some might not agree with me taking such a strong stand. Some might say it's odd given that Matthew is a rookie in this league. At the end of the day, though, it's my job to field the best possible roster for this organization. And each one of those guys in the locker room know that I believe in them, and that I will support them and back them, even at the risk of my own job."

"I'm saying that as long as this roster is my roster, Matthew Graham will be welcome on this team. If Matthew gets moved it will not be my doing. And that would be contradictory to the terms I agreed to when accepting this position. If that situation arises, then there are a number of different courses of action that would be available to me. There are a number of different factors that would play into my decision at that point that make it impossible for me to say which of those would be the one I decide is best for me.

As for this moment, however, I am the general manager of the Cleveland Mustangs and it is my intent to continue in that capacity for the foreseeable future."

39
What do we learn from losing two town instead of one?

40
What do we learn from a random lynch, though? If we're lucky enough to guess right on scum sure we've knocked one off but we're not any closer to figuring anything out. I'm still not sold on an early lynch just because. Already down two town. Guess wrong and we're down another two or, at best, someone is forced to use an ability they might not have been otherwise. I don't know man going for a lynch on nothing this early on without more to go on just doesn't seem like the right choice to me.

"Ladies and gentlemen I'm sure you have many questions concerning the situation between Ace Profits and myself. At the conclusion of this press conference I will make a brief statement and then, if you have further questions, I will be happy to answer them. Lets talk about some other things first, though, shall we?"

1. Talk us through your Week 12 Game, What did you like, what didn't you like?

"I purchased a ticket to this game, paid for my travel expenses, and watched the boys play their hearts out against a stout San Antonio team. To see a game slip away from us late for the second week in a row was heartbreaking. But if you want further pro's and con's for this game I'm going to point you in the direction of the owner of the Mustangs organization. Given his choice to make public statements prior to this game, I will allow him to answer for the mess that he made."

2. What did you think of the All-Star skills challenges?

"I enjoyed them and the competition between the players. I felt like Henry, Caleb and Ezekiel all represented themselves well and Stephen Cotter reminded us all just how passionate of a player he truly is. Sometimes that passion for this game, and for the competition of it, gets the best of us. But I wouldn't change a thing about him and I'm glad he is a part of this organization."

3. What did you think of the All-Star Game itself?

"Again, it was an exciting game and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hats of to Kirk for putting together a team that was victorious in spite of all of the trash talked by the general managers of the other conference. You have to give credit where credit is due, and Kirk earned his keep with his selections."

4. With the Minor League Call Up Window here once again, do you plan on calling up any players?

"We'll consider it. Bismack is dealing with an injury right now and his status is a bit up in the air for the game against Milwaukee. We've got a DE that we could call up to help us out. The plan is to speak with the coaching staff and make a determination from there on how to move forward."

5. Talk about your game this upcoming week, and how do you feel about the final five games of the regular season?

"Milwaukee has hit a bit of a rough patch lately but I know that GM Strike and his coaching staff will have those boys ready to play and to play hard so we're not going to take this game lightly. Division games are never easy and so we're going to look to put together four solid quarters and come away with our eighth victory of the season. As for the final five games on the whole, our destiny still lies in our own hands. We're a game back of DC at the moment, and tied with Saint Paul. But we've got games against both and against a surging Michigan squad. If we win out, we win the division and put ourselves in a good position to make a deep playoff run. So that's where our focus is going to be. Get through this game against Milwaukee with a victory and then we'll focus on the rest. One week at at time. Win five, and we don't have to worry about what anyone else in our division, or our conference, does."

"With that said, I'd like to take a moment to address the situation between Ace and myself. And, Matthew Graham as well. In a previous statement I have said that as long as I am the General Manager of the Cleveland Mustangs, Matthew Graham will be our starting free safety. I stand by that statement now. I read the report that, in spite of my reinstatement, Matthew is still expected to be moved. But, again, I will say that as long as I am the general manager of this franchise Matthew Graham will be our starting free safety. If that happens to change, it will not be my doing. And if it happens to change, then I will be left in the position of evaluating my options. Furthermore, I continue to stand by my statement that to change our roster as it stands for any reason other than injury would be foolish. The guys in the Mustangs organization at this moment, from top to bottom, are the guys I fully intend on riding with throughout the remainder of this season.

Ace Profits is a businessman, but he is also a fan who wants the organization that he owns to win. I have been put in charge of overseeing that success. As long as I have the final say over the decisions concerning our roster, I will continue to be the General Manager of this organization and I will continue to stand by, and support, the players and this coaching staff as they strive to bring a championship to this city that I love so very deeply. We have an immensely talented roster capable of achieving that as long as each of us are left to do the jobs we've been hired to do. Now, are there any further questions?"

42
Fair enough. We're just already down 2 town... seems hasty to me to be pushing for a vote without any real, substantial information. Hopefully someone will come forward with something that is actually tangible and not just throwing shit at a wall and praying it sticks.

43
It does make sense, I agree. But could that not also come off as scummy? Mafia knows who the other mafia are, correct? Would it not be wise to push for a lynch on a username you know ISNT scum if you ARE scum?

I'm not sure I'm feeling a vote in any direction right now with the points that have been made.

Can't deny that @LaDiabla. Kid had a hell of a game. Shocking, even. Not quite as shocking as suspending and threatening to trade someone with 9 tackles, 2 PD's and a pick six because he had the balls to stand up for himself. Mustangs are successful IN SPITE of @PROFITSUS. It's a miracle GM Dazz isn't in therapy.

I'll tow the company line when the line is win the division at all costs. I won't tow the company line when we're making a mistake with a kid like Matthew Graham who is just starting to come into his own. When we first spoke about me taking on the position of General Manager of this team, you told me you wanted a GM who shared your vision for SUCCESS! And why did you want that? So you could focus on maximizing revenue.

So lets stick with what we agreed upon. You let me focus on the success of this team, and putting players in place that will achieve that. And you focus on maximizing revenue and lining your pockets. If you think that's undermining you, I'll get you a dictionary and find the word for you.

Ace, it's good to see you again. Now, I can understand why you might want to make that choice. But you're a smart business man. You want to win the division just as badly as the guys in that locker room. You want to beat Michigan when that game rolls back around. You want to beat GM Dazz when we play DC again, don't you? After he just up and left you like he did. And for Washington D.C. of all places. So lets take a moment to consider what's best for business, and what's best for the team right now.

We've got six games left. We're sitting atop the division right now. And Matthew just came off a game where he had nine tackles, two PD's and a pick six. He's got the potential to be our new James Taylor AND the potential to put a hell of a lot of money in your pocket. You hired me to run this team. So let me run this team and trust me to do what's best for the Mustangs, AND for this city.

Look at the first that kid has. Can you imagine? A kid with the balls to stand up to THE Ace Profits?  If that's not the kind of kid you want playing for your organization, sir, then you aren't the owner all of us believe you to be.
