Sounds good. Thanks Coach.

Steph please Demi.

Steph, good look in the pre-season. I think we did a good job moving the ball through the air and we're poised for a big season. I just wanted to commend you for the work you did through the off-season; I think that and continuing to work through the season will have you at an MVP level with what we're doing. I know your committed to that so I want to let you know we're going to continue to market in that direction as well.

For sure - I think we did a really good job in all three phases and looking forward to keeping that up. There's no reason to change much of anything so unless you have something I might check in with a couple of guys but that's all.

I think week in, week out, we do a good job of focusing on our opponent and the people that are going to play each and every week. Steph's one of our leaders and I think his focus there helps set the tone for the rest of our team.

1. What did you gather from your preseason games?
I think we’ve got a good team. Our defense was stout, and we moved the ball well through the air. That’s going to be our bread and butter this season and we really did some good work with it. We turned the ball over a bit and that’s always going to be something you need to watch for but beyond that I’m really happy with the performance and we’re heading into the season on the right foot.

2. How much stock do you put into your teams preseason performance?
I think there’s a bit; some teams stay healthy, some are looking at getting reps in a new system. We’re in our second year under Coach Saint and our defense has been together for forever now. This was about building momentum heading into the regular season and making sure we’re going through the right processes to be game ready when it matters.

3. What is your primary and secondary goal this season, personally?
Win the Impact Bowl. That’s primary, secondary, tertiary, whatever. It puts some pressure in this building but we’ve got the right leaders, coaching staff, players, to deal with that.

4. Who impressed you the most on your own team in the pre-season?
I think two new guys; Douglas Fowler was great on the outside. He adds another dimension to our lineup and really allows us to exploit other teams. We’ve got five outstanding receivers and we’ll be able to utilize that in our tempo to keep teams on their heels. Harris McKeown in the secondary was a great get for us, a player we’ve had our eye on for a while and he did really well in our Nickle sets. We’ve got a lot of talent and flexibility on the defensive side of the ball this year and I’m really excited to see what Ken Graham does with them.

5. With the start of the season finally here, what do you expect from your players in week one?
Go on the road and get a victory. It starts week one and we can’t overlook Long Beach. GM Gooch has started to bring in some talent and his teams always play hard.

GM Winter Gathering Leads to “Win/Win” Deal for Both Franchises

The PBL Off-Season is in full swing and GM Metro is finally on the trade board, well after some analysts expected. Negotiations began last night on a deal that would see potential elite arm Andy Warrington head to Virginia Beach, spanning into the wee hours and including a stop for a bite of the famous M.C. Wilkinson Spaghetti. Three contenders were in the mix for the services of Armando Roman, including GM Pancho, but the inclusion of Ryan Correa was enough to get the deal done as well as the in-person nature of negotiations.

When asked for comment on the deal GM Talon Wilkinson said “We were close with Mexico City before Thunder Bay was even in discussions. It’s been a while since I’ve seen GM Pancho personally, we’ve had a homeless Ginger stay with us since, and I think we’d have been able to hammer home a deal in person but we’re pleased to welcome Andy Warrington and Ryan Correa to the Tide.”

GM Metro was coy as usual but adding another first round pick to the team fits his MO and getting a defense first Shortstop in Fasulo will help address a major weakness coming into the season.

That's fair - it's good to know what we're looking at. I normally wouldn't focus on a pre-season game but what are your thoughts going up against Alabama. I know Robles likely isn't going to play but I think we roll out the starters for that one. Let's get off on the right foot against the champs, agreed?

19
General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM : LAS VEGAS SCORPIONS
« on: November 22, 2018, 11:29:16 AM »
Not really - the only thing I can think of is whether we're starting our best five o-lineman in pass pro. Pleasant looked good in camp and Jones didn't improve as much as Fenner so wanted to ask if we need to mix up the tackles at all - and going forward does one maybe slide inside to potentially play guard?

General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM : LAS VEGAS SCORPIONS
« on: November 22, 2018, 10:57:03 AM »
We need to execute at key moments. Those years we've had a number of games where we've lost in overtime, on the last second, etc. Those were different teams though, different coaching staff, different players. We play Scorpion's football I think we'll be in good position.

General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM : LAS VEGAS SCORPIONS
« on: November 21, 2018, 02:04:57 PM »
1.Use three words to classify how your off-season went, and explain.
Win. It. All. We’ve got the team and made some improvements over the off-season to the roster and a lot of our young guys took another step forward. There’s no reason for us not to see that as a reasonable goal for this season.

2. Coming out of training camp, where do you rank your team in the division, in the conference, and in the league?
We’ve got a really good team. I think we can compete against anyone in the league on any given Sunday. We know the expectations for our season and we have a team we feel confident can meet them.

3. Do you have any position battles planned for the preseason?  Which jobs are up for grabs and what do you hope to gain from the preseason games?
We want to continue to improve and we want to stay healthy. I think when you look at our team it’s less about position battles and more about people getting comfortable in their roles. It’ll take a team effort this year and I think everyone we’ve brought in is capable of contributing to that.

Ok. Is there anyone there you're particularly fond of and would like to see return? I am thinking of releasing the following players: Manny Diaz, Danny Ayala, Frank Fowler, Keith Gaugler, Jaden Savage and Omar Tirado and that would clear some roster room.

Sounds good - it gives me a lot to consider when putting together a game plan as we head towards spring training. How have the past couple of drafts looked for us?

24
General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM: THUNDER BAY ROAR
« on: November 19, 2018, 04:16:40 PM »
Fair enough - with Pizzalato looking entrenched at second - what's Correa look like at SS or elsewhere on the diamond? Or is Pizzaloto capable of playing elsewhere? I'd even extend the same question to other players on the roster, who's capable of playing another position, and which one if so?

25
General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM: THUNDER BAY ROAR
« on: November 19, 2018, 02:30:52 PM »
Sorry - had to catch my breath. We got a lot of production from Sisto and Vasquez on the sticks, and Larson and Pierce on the bump and none are on the proverbial right side of 30. Are you seeing a lot of progression from other guys when you say a post-season run? Or is it more that we're going to be fighting for a playoff spot?

General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM: THUNDER BAY ROAR

It does - but I do want to challenge the assessment of a great young team. Look at the stats from last year I do see some guys coming into their primes that performed well but last year we got a lot of production from Sisto and Vas

Drew, thanks for taking my call. I know this is a hectic time of year for you with the draft and getting ready for free-agency. I was hoping I could have a few moments to discuss Harry Ham's contract. We made a move to bring him back last year and I know in talking to him that he was happy to be back here, playing center, and that chasing the money wasn't all it's cracked up to be. I was hoping we could make a deal to make sure he gets to stay here. I'd like to propose a fully guaranteed 4 year, 4MM deal that starts immediately. I know it's a pay cut this year but I am hoping that the long term security that the deal offers is enough to make it worth his while.
