Thanks.

Demi, can you get me Coach McPhee please.
---
Coach, great game-plan last week against Lincoln. Great job getting Pruitt integrated as quickly as possible. I did have one question and that's with the O-Line. I know Pleasant's pass-pro is a work in progress but looking at how dominant he was last week, does his strength mask maybe some rawness in his technique? If so, how do Jones or Fenner look if we kick them inside? I know college tackles have sometimes had success moving to the interior.

I hope so too. I know there's a lot to adjust to with a mid-season move so I want take up too much of your time. Thanks for coming to see me.

Demi, can you get me Steve Rosenhaus on the line please?
---
Steve, with the trade deadline on us I've got a few irons in the fire and I may need some reinforcements. I'm looking to bring a couple guys in on minor league deals at the moment to get them into practice with us and then depending on how things shake out, they may end up at the back end of our roster. I was looking at HB Kevin Fountain, WR Pat Hammond and CB Tracy Edmondson. I'm offering 1 Year at 250K for them to report to Carson City.

Jose, just wanted to finally welcome you to Vegas and congratulate you on the Offensive Player of the week. We're down but not out this season and I think with performances like that we're going to make a little bit of noise.

Sounds good - with one or two more moves in the fire there might be some turnover in the bottom of our roster but I think the key pieces are going to stick. I'll be making some moves to add a bit of depth around the edges down the stretch but outside of that - this may be our team. Last week we looked really good against Lincoln bringing extra heat and we know that getting around Steph's feet makes him nervous. Do we go with the same game-plan? I have it on good authority that Dickey's not going to play for RC this week.

Demi, can we send out a press release thanking John Pitts for everything he's done in Las Vegas and wishing him the best in Atlanta. After that, Coach Saint please.
---
Well Coach, a great win for us. Pruitt definitely gave us a spark we've been missing on offense and the defense came to play. I'm sure you've noticed the Pitts move; another tough one for us but I think we've shown this season that Dougie's our number one guy. It should open up some balls for Ponder and Mackey as well underneath. I'm going to be putting Bobbitt into Pitts' old spot barring a miracle move. There might be a couple more moves so I'm trusting you to bring the team together a bit down the stretch but we've got talent and opportunity and adding some guys with extra fire in them.

1.   What was your biggest takeaway from your game this week?
We had a spark out there. I lost a lot of sleep last week over the Steph Shelley trade. I think thereís been a lot of questions asked about this team but we showed that we are capable of being a competitive team this season and taking a run at it.

2. With your record at mid-season, how would you grade the first half of Season 11 for your franchise based on your pre-season expectations?
We dug ourselves a big hole. We wanted to take the division and the conference and to be honest thatís not likely to happen. Our focus has to be just to get to the dance and then make a run.

3. At mid-season, which of your players would you consider an underrated performer who deserves more recognition?
Chris Mackey. He made a personal sacrifice at the start of the season, stepped up to emerge as a great weapon for us in the slot after we acquired Dougie, and thereís been games this season where heís been our biggest guy on offense. Heís someone who I really believe has been our MVP so far and I think heís primed to have a big second half for us.

4. Three weeks before the All-Star game, who do you believe is a lock from your team to be selected for the game?
I think we should have three or four locks, Dougie Fowler and Chris Mackey have been studs all season in the passing game, Gordon Goulet continues to be the pre-eminent linebackers in the league, and William Mayo has been awesome in the middle of our defense and opening up pass rushing lanes by taking on double teams.

5. With the trade deadline upon us, do you see your team as a buyer, a seller, or neutral?  ...and what is it you are looking for on the trade market?
I think weíve got a chance to make a run this year but at the same time, weíve got to look at the fact that this team is below 500 at this point. Iím going to be active in the trade market, thatís just in my DNA, but until we see whatís out there itís hard to label us. I think thereís still a lot of potential with this team but weíve got to get the right pieces and give guys the right opportunities.

Stephen Shelley please.
---
Steph, take a seat. I wanted to talk with you before it hit the news. This season hasn't gone as we wanted and honestly, the Quarterback play hasn't been what I expected especially after signing you this off-season long term. I've come to an agreement with Rapid City to acquire Jose Pruitt and you're part of the trade going the other way. It's not a decision I've taken lightly but I have to act in the best interest of the franchise. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I wanted to give you the respect to tell you to your face what has happened.

I understand. I still hold faith that we've got a chance this season. We're a game out of the playoffs and you're a big part of this team and have been for a long time. I want you to finish our your career in Vegas but I understand the allure of playing with Erik and you are correct about how full our WR room is and that decisions yours in free agency. I'm hoping we can put this season first however.

Sounds good - one last question. Hypothetically, if we added a bigger, slower corner, how much zone would you feel comfortable adding or where would you look to use him. I know we both like man to man but that's something to consider.

22
General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM : LAS VEGAS SCORPIONS
« on: March 08, 2019, 10:14:14 AM »
I like that. The other thing I wanted to ask about was what you've thought of Harris McKeown to this point. What do you see as his best spot, more of a nickel corner or on the outside. More as a result of some irons in the fire looking forward.

Sounds good. Thanks Coach.
---
Ken Graham please.
---
Ken, wanted to talk about Lincoln. They've looked really good on offense this season and I think we might need to hold 'em to 14 or less. I'm of two minds to accomplish that, one is we let them run the ball all day and play tight at the goal line, the other thing is we blitz like mad men and hope to get in on Bloom. I know last year we let them throw the rock in the playoffs and it worked but adding Garrett I think changes that calculus. I'm leaning more towards a mad blitz out of our 3-3-5 but wanted your thoughts?

25
General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM : LAS VEGAS SCORPIONS
« on: March 05, 2019, 07:48:35 PM »
We'll get to the bottom of it. I'll be talking to Coach Graham this week about upping the blitz and Coach Hoffman to see what he thinks we can do. The one thing I think we need to change is run the ball a little bit more barring a miracle trade. I know we've not been great at it this year but it's also been used sparingly. We're not getting the production we need from Steph so we'll take the ball out of his hands a little bit.

Honestly, I don't know. I think we've got some strong leaders in our locker room and that's something we focus on it the draft process. I think Coach Saint is an excellent leader who's gotten great results from his teams. He's the Coach of the Las Vegas Scorpions for as long as he wants to be. I unequivocally support him.

1. What was the major takeaway you got from this week's game? What did your team do best, and what do you need to do better?
We played a good game on defense but our offense was abysmal. I don't remember a worse offensive performance in my tenure here in Las Vegas. Then, to see a punt return sink us, that kind of describes our season to this point in a nut shell. There's so much we can do better and we've got the players to do it ... but we can't just seem to execute. We tried to shake things up ... maybe we need to do some more ... I don't know. It's basically reached that point this season.

2. Did you fall in love with any players from the showcase?  care to share who?
I think our scouting files are fairly secure. Maybe not Fort Knox level but I'm really not interested in sharing who we fell in love with at this point. I think we've got some holes to fill on our team next year and with a lot of free agents on our roster going forward this draft will be important for the future of our franchise.

3. Which player are you most concerned about on your opponent's team this week, and why?
I think the way we've tried to stop the run to this point we need to focus on Jarvis and Jones.

4. Talk about anything that stood out to you in the news, how do you feel about the possibility of a 53 man roster?
I think it's unfortunate that teams are having injuries but every year something has happened and teams have found a way to get around it. I think you plan at the start of the season to have depth and if you don't do that you have to react on the fly.

5. Talk about the upcoming game, what is one word you would give to your team this week, and why?
Win!

Sounds good - I've been in contact with GM Eli and he's waiting one more week to see how things shake out. Any concerns, I think the only thing on my end is keeping an eye out on the fatigue levels of our pitching staff going into a series but outside of that - I think we don't make any moves.

WEEK TWO

1. Talk about the last series. What was the highlight of the weekend for you?
We played really well. Some good baseball, great defense, great offense. Pizz is tearing the cover off the ball right now and is an absolute pleasure to watch at the moment.

2. Talk about the incoming draft class, do you feel it's too early for players to have to choose this soon into the season on college or the pros?
I don't know - I think as a high-schooler that's going to be a tough choice regardless of when you have to make it. For many it's a childhood dream to play in the pro's and I've always fully supported that but I understand the pressure of also going to college and the life experience that brings and that it maybe vaults your career as well with a couple good seasons.

3. How do you feel about the potential changes the league is looking into?
I think I'll be better able to comment once they're released.

4. Talk about your opponent this week. What will be the key to victory?
Same as this week, get on the sticks early, have our starters pitch deep and then lock it down.

35
General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM : LAS VEGAS SCORPIONS

1. Talk about last weeks game. (typical what went right / wrong depending on a win or loss)
That was a game I felt like if we took it we were right back in the thick of things. One of those games that we had to have and we didn't come out in the first half with the focus we needed to have. We got shredded with the deep ball and didn't play well on offense. I do want to give a shout out to a couple players for never saying die; Danny Edelman had what, four chase down tackles to save touchdowns that at least kept things reasonable? And Robert Tyler continues to get into the backfield to make plays.

2. What are your thoughts on Hilton Keegan and others skipping this Rookie Showcase and committing to either the XFL or AAF?
I think they're good football players. I think each person has to make what they feel is best for their career and them personally.

3. What are you hoping to gain from this weeks Showcase?
I think some insight into a couple positions we'll be looking to make moves at in the off-season. We've got a lot of expiring deals, especially on the offensive side of the ball so it's going to be a busy time for our scouting staff.

4. What did you schedule for your players during the bye week? Training or a week off?
I think everyone here needs to take a week off to evaluate things. We're 2-4 and we've pushed these guys and it hasn't necessarily worked. Maybe a week off will give us some clarity and bring everything back into focus.

5. Talk about anything else on your mind in reference to the league/sport.
I'm really just focused on the showcase and what we're going to look like at the end of the season; chumps or champions.

GM Greenside and I have both talked about our mutual admiration for Dotson. I do agree on them being crafty and making the money work would be difficult. I'll reach out and see what we can do though if there's other names that come to mind. The other thing I wanted to ask about was the guys you had at Washington that declared for the draft. Not an urgency but maybe over the next couple of weeks if you find yourself with a bit of time to jot down a couple notes about guys you think might fit here that'd be great.

General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM : LAS VEGAS SCORPIONS

That's fair. Coach Graham and I have spoken about something similar in the past. I think this week we're going to be running our normal scheme and then with the break, I was wondering then if you might take a look at some film and see if there's a player who might fit that role who we could target. We've done good grabbing under the radar guys that fit like Tyler, Hernandez and McKeown and I imagine that's more the area we're looking at. I know a Turnover Taylor or Andrew Roderick would be great but they're either not on the market at risk of their GM being fired or the asking price borders on what the Pelicans want for Anthony Davis. Probably a strong safety given Danny's status on this team but the right free safety I think we'd make a jump.

Agreed. Sorry for slipping on the Harris move. I was excited to start the season but it worked out okay for us. I don't want us to get too over-confident though. How do Cohen and Flores look this week? Any fatigue concerns? We built up some bullpen depth to make sure those arms stay fresh.

General Manager's Office / Re: TEAM: THUNDER BAY ROAR

1. Talk about opening week. What did you take away from it?
We played some really good baseball. Hitting, pitching, defense. Total team effort to sweep the series.

2. Any news stories stick out to you this week?
I imagine Tuffy Rhodes or Chris Shelton would have something to say about Ricky Cruz's performance. I think you'll have players have good weeks and some games where just nothing goes right. It tends to even itself out over the course of a long season and that's the great thing about baseball.

3. Do you think there is PEDs in the game right now?
I'm sure there's someone doing it. When there's this much money and fame on the line you're going to attract desparation. I do believe the game is the cleanest it has ever been however and it's not something that keeps me up at night.

4. Talk about your opponent this week. What will you have to improve to take the series?
I think it's going to be big to get some key outs in the middle of their order late in games. Cohen and Flores did a good job this past series of locking down leads and I think that's going to be key again.

We need to keep that fire alive though - it felt like at times there that game was starting to slip but we did enough to hold on. We're going to get Orlando's best too and they do a lot of things that exploit where we've been weak this season. I think our gameplan stays the same and we just need to execute.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?
We managed to hang on. Tulsa's got a tough team and they made some plays this week against us but we managed to make one more when it counted. I think that's a shoutout to our defense who really gritted this one out. 400 yards is a lot but rather than give in they forced a couple turnovers which turned out to be the difference along with a big showing from Dougie.

2. Talk about the news that caught your attention this week...
We're still focused on what we need to do to firmly get this season right on track.

3. Now that you have completed your first round of divisional games, how do you rank the teams in your division and who do you believe will be the biggest threat to your goals?
I think we play in a tough division. Oakland's defense has balled out this season and San Antonio has been the bugga-boo for us over the past couple of seasons. We've got some work to do if we want to catch them and that means we've got to take care of business outside of the division against some really good football teams.

4. Talk to us about your upcoming game this week.  What will be the key to victory as you step out of division for the first time this year?
