I know some of the guys on here are in a league already, but is anybody interested in doing a $20 league?  I'm thinking 12 teams.  Winner gets $160, second place gets $80.  Or we can do winner take all....doesn't matter to me.  We can vote on it if need be.

SBA News and Info / Off-Season Lock-in
« on: August 28, 2018, 11:35:10 AM »
Once you have completed conducting your off-season business it is time to lock in for the season.  You must include the following information in you lock-in post.

Lineup - You need to indicate your starting lineup and your bench players in order from 6th-12/15.

Minutes - You will need to assign each player a number of minutes to play in the game.  Your total allocation must equal 240.

Offense -- You have the option to choose the type of offense you want your team to run, or you can leave it up to your coaches.  If you decide to choose the offense, you will pick from the options below and allocate percentages to equal 100%:

Isolation Get the ball to your top scorers in the area of the court he likes to work in and try to create a shot for himself
Pick & Roll - A guard and a big man are going to run the pick and roll (or can turn into pick and pop with a big who likes to shoot threes).
Post Up Force the ball into the low post players.
Spot Up Run wing players off screens for jump shots
Motion Involving all players and emphasize ball movement
Transition Pushing the ball in changes of possession looking for players to go to spots they like to shoot from and to get quicker shots

Here is an example:

Isolation - 20%
Pick & Roll - 15%
Post Up - 0%
Spot Up - 15%
Motion - 25%
Transition - 25%

Team Captains - You need to select two team captains.

PR - Include PR campaigns for all players that have PR in their contracts.

Training - Choose 3 players for the following training categories (a player can do more than one, but will count as two);

Shooting, Passing, Ball-handling, Rebounding, Shot block, Steal, Intelligence, Endurance

SBA News and Info / Free Agency Mechanics
« on: August 13, 2018, 11:06:56 AM »
There are two types of free agents in the Supreme Basketball Alliance; restricted and unrestricted.  An unrestricted free agent is able to sign with any team he so chooses.  A restricted free agent's rights are still owned by their current team, which gives that team a chance to match any contract offer the player agrees to with a different team.  For example; if Player A is a restricted free agent who played for the Charleston Crawfish, agrees to a contract with the Denver Peaks for 2 years $10mm per season, the Crawfish have the opportunity to match that contract.  If they choose to do so, Player A has to sign with the Crawfish if he wants to play for the upcoming season.

In the previously announced free agent class, restricted free agents are highlighted in orange.

All free agent offers, both restricted and unrestricted, will be made via PM.  Send your PM with the following subject line: TEAM NAME: FREE AGENT OFFERS.  When you submit your offers, you have the ability to make a pitch if you would like.  It is not required.  Some players only care about the money so they don't care what you say to them.  Others wouldn't mind hearing how you plan to use them on your team.  The choice is yours on whether you submit a pitch or not.

For restricted free agents, the team that owns the rights will be notified that their player has agreed to a contract with another team and will be given the details of the deal.  The team will have 36 hours to decide if they want to match the contract or renounce their rights to the player by not matching the contract.

As always, let me know if you have any questions.

SBA News and Info / Season 4 Draft
« on: August 06, 2018, 09:45:20 PM »
Welcome to the Season 4 Draft.  Here are a couple of rules:

1) Each first round pick will have a 24 hour timer for the pick to be made.
2) Each second round pick will have a 12 hour timer for the pick to be made.
3) Picking out of turn will cause a forfeiture of your pick
4) If you submit a proxy list to me I will make your selection for you if you have not selected at the end of the timer.
5) If you have not submitted a proxy list and the timer has ended on your pick and you have not made your selection, your pick will be skipped.
6) If you have any questions, just ask.

OOC Boards / S4 Draft/Free Agency
« on: August 02, 2018, 07:58:43 PM »
As mentioned in a previous thread, I would like to start the draft next week, Tuesday or Wednesday, preferably.  With that being said, I would like all rookie scouting report requests to be submitted by Sunday at midnight.

I will make a separate post about the draft in itself, but I want to mention that you can submit a proxy list to me and if you want, give me the consent to draft the next player on your list.  For this draft, you do not have to submit a proxy list, and if you do it is not a requirement to give me permission to make your pick.

Once you are done submitting your scouting and ready for the draft reply to this thread announcing such.

Nigel Falls is The Power Agent.  Represents some of the biggest names in the game.  He supports his clients 100% and expects top dollar.

Mike "Money" Maker is one of the power players in the agent business.  Mike prides himself on getting his client the most money possible and he's good at delivering the goods.  Mike has made the move to represent both HIFL and SBA players.

Annalise is all that she goes by and just as she goes by one name, there is only one word to describe her....TOUGH.  She might not represent the biggest stars, but she fights for her clients and drives a hard bargain.

Eli Harris Not one for the small talk, Eli Harris is known for his "one counter" style of negotiating.  When dealing with Mr. Harris bring your best offer early because he will allow one counter to his clients desires and if it is not up to par the conversation is over, there is no going back and accepting the previous offer, if you counter and fail, they walk away.

Steve Rosenhaus is a big name from South Florida.  Great friends with a lot of the old boys at "The U" in Miami, Rosenhaus is a smooth talker who is looking to take trouble players on and get them the deals they deserve.  He's all about making deals and getting his guys into the best positions to succeed and to have fun while doing it, baby.

Amber Molina is a Texas based agent who is working hard to break into the boys club that is sports agency.  She is defensive of her minority status in the business and she is also quick to let a GM fall out of favor.  Keep her happy or she might just let you have a piece of her mind..

There are no limits on contracts for coaches.

Assistant coaches can be hired by other teams to the position of Head Coach without penalty.  However, if a team hires another team's Head Coach for the same position they must pay the original team $2mm in PR.

BREAKING NEWS: JN Enterprises Purchases Rights to the Supreme Basketball Alliance

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It appears that Charlotte, North Carolina is quickly becoming the center of the sports world.  Already the headquarters for the High Impact Football League, the Queen City appears destined to be the home of another sports league.  JN Enterprises, Inc., a Charlotte based holdings company, has just purchased the rights to the Supreme Basketball Alliance (SBA).  The SBA is an upstart professional basketball league that has been in business for a couple of seasons and currently is headquartered in Boston, MA.  While originally considered a joint venture, the owners of the SBA were looking for an influx of capital to help the league reach new heights.  Therefore they put the league up for sale with the owners relinquishing the joint venture concept and selling the league as a single entity.

Enter Founder and CEO of JN Enterprises, Inc., Justin Pichey.  His company made quick contact with the league once the news broke that the league was up for sale.  Both sides moved for a quick sale and finished closing on the purchase of the SBA just last night, though the purchase price is unknown at this time.  There is a news conference scheduled for later today where Mr. Pichey is scheduled to speak from JN Enterprises, Inc. headquarters.

Fort Worth Stars

Owner: Matt McNaughty
Team Assistant: Miss Blaze

Team History:
Matt McNaughty is the man behind the Magic Matt: XXX film and strip club franchise.  If he's not on the big screen or slinging his junk in the face of screaming women at the strip club, you can find Mr. McNaughty on the sidelines of any major sporting event in the great state of Texas.  He loved being involved so much that he started the Forth Worth Stars so that he troll the sidelines all he wanted.  It should be known that he does have a penchant to perform a more PG-13 version of his Magic Matt: XXX dance during halftime.  Unfortunately, that has not correlated to much success for his team on the court.

Season 2: 15-27

Cheyenne Bison

Owner: Cowgirl Jane
Team Assistant: Farmer Joe
Team Colors: Tan & IndianRed

Team History:
Cowgirl Jane's family owns the largest cattle farm and horse stable in the United States.  Her husband, who she met in college, knows nothing about the family business and can be considered a "city boy".  However, his wife's wealth and beauty kept around long enough to marry her.  For her part, she decided to start the Cheyenne Bison to give them something to do together that they both could enjoy.  Only problem, being a sports fan doesn't correlate to running a successful sports team.  The Bison have been abysmal the first three seasons of the SBA and need some serious help. The bright side is the team's record has improved each season.

Amaretto Gold has been a highly successful corporate lawyer for years.  As an avid sports fan, Mr. Gold has been to many sporting events, met many athletes and celebrities.  He has also served as the attorney for some of those same people in certain business dealings.  It was only natural that he would one day own a sports team.  Despite his firm being in New York City, Mr. Gold loves the rocky mountains and has a home in Denver.  He is the best at what he does as a lawyer and his team is the best in the Supreme Basketball Alliance, having made the SBA finals all three seasons and winning the champion two out of the three seasons.  Mr. Gold expects nothing but excellence and wants a General Manager that is going to do what it takes to get the job done.

Memphis Jazz

Owner: Bobby Armstrong

Team History:
Bobby Armstrong is a world-renowned jazz musician, in fact he is widely considered the greatest jazz musician in the world.  Mr. Armstrong has spent his entire adult life on the road doing shows, performances, important events, etc. and was hardly ever home.  Despite not having an interest in sports, his ownership of the Memphis Jazz stems from his wanting to be able to connect with his two sons.  Not only did they not see a lot of their father, but the boys don't like jazz music so it has always been hard for Mr. Armstrong to connect with his boys.  Therefore, he decided to own a professional basketball team in an effort to connect with his two sons.  Only problem is Mr. Armstrong knows next to nothing about basketball and his franchise has been terrible, to say the least.  However, given his talents and success as a musician, Mr. Armstrong has grown weary of being associated with a loser and is willing to invest his energy and resources to put together a competitive team going forward.
