Forum Games / Pokemon Go GREAT LEAGUE...LEAGUE!!
« on: June 03, 2020, 04:52:56 PM »
Alright friends. Let's do a great league actual league style! Using the same 9 players as the master league tournament, we can do a round robin schedule where everyone plays everyone. We'll actually keep the records as 3 game series so if a set goes 2-1, we'll count it as 2-1 in the standings instead of just player a beats player b. This means we're also allowing 3-0 and 0-3 to occur. At the end of a "9 week" season, the top 4 records will go into a playoff bracket to show their supremacy over the HIFL universe!

Mafia Games / Secret Hitler GAME OVER Blue - 5 Red - 0 WHAT A SLAUGHTER!!
« on: January 06, 2020, 09:23:57 AM »
Can you find and stop the Secret Hitler?

----

Every player has a role. In a 9 player game the roles are:
5 liberals
3 fascist
1 Hitler (who is on the fascist team)

You'll get a role PM of liberal or fascist/Hitler. If you're a fascist, I will also tell you who your teammates and Hitler are but you keep that knowledge to yourself. Hitler does not get to know who his teammates are. And there is no QT necessary for the fascists.

The game will begin once I've PM'd each player and then reply here that I've done that. Your first task as a group will be to decide office. To begin the game I'll use random.org for your seating order and nominate the first president. The president then picks a chancellor.

This combination needs voted on by a majority so once the president has picked a chancellor you all have to vote simply by posting yes or no (or if you prefer, Ja! or Nein!). 6 yes votes approves the government (a majority). Voting phases last 24 hours from the nomination. If time expires, government will voted down regardless if a yes plurality currently exists.

If voted down, the presidency passes clockwise (to the left). In the next post you'll see where you've been seated in a pic but I'll also put a list.

If after 3 elections you all vote down, then I enact a policy. Boom. Now lets say you do have a majority vote. We go to the quiet phase. No one posts during this! Here I will PM the president with 3 policies chosen from a deck of 17. 6 are liberal (blue), 11 are fascist (red). (Shuffled by random.org. The whole deck will be run through before reshuffle.) The president discards one by replying to me with what two he wishes to give to the chancellor and then I PM the chancellor. Chancellor plays one of those policies.

When a blue policy is played, nothing happens but good things for the liberals. When a red policy is played, in a 9 player game the president must do something each time

1st & 2nd red policies, president investigates a player's role (if hitler the president only sees fascist)
3rd red, president picks next president
4th, kill a player
5th, kill a player and veto power unlocked (veto will be explained if we get that far)

Now after this point, you can have time to discuss, lie, talk about what was played etc. Then presidency gets passed to the person to the left and new government is enacted the same way. In most situations, you cannot serve in government 2 phases in a row because we don't want the same 2 people running the show. The only exception is that if you were just a chancellor, you can still be president if its your turn. I'll remind everyone who is exempt from being chancellor each time.

This is the game flow and its fairly consistent. I will keep track of what policies are discarded as those get shuffled back into the deck after its been cycled through completely.

How to win?
Liberals have to get 5 blue policies through to win OR Hitler can be killed during gameplay to win.
Fascists have to get 6 red policies through to win OR if Hitler is made chancellor anytime after 3 red policies are through and is successfully voted into government to win.

That's it ya'll. If you have any questions feel free to ask me via PM. Roles are coming soon and after that I will post again signifying the start of the game. I'll consistently let you know what phase of the game we are in and what's needed. Have fun!

Mafia Games / Secret Hitler SIGNUPS
« on: January 02, 2020, 03:47:42 PM »
Copying the exact same sign-up thread as last time.

A completely open mafia-ish style setup based off the rules of Secret Hitler.

----

The rules. There are two teams, Liberals and Fascists. There's a secret Hitler who is on the fascist team and the fascists will know who Hitler is but Hitler will not know who the fascists are. This will not be a traditional mafia as there will be no need for a QT for the fascists. I will tell them via PM who Hitler is.

In the game thread, I will post an image of all of you as you were sitting at a table. So you can see who is next to you and across from you and so on. I will randomly pick a president for the first round using random.org (I didn't do this last time and it wasted a day). That player posts and nominates a chancellor. The rest of the players will vote on this over 24 hours. If the majority vote yes then the "night phase" will commence. If not, then I will pass the president 1 to the left and we'll try for another election over the next 24 hours. After 3 failed elections, we'll skip night phase and I'll explain that below.

Now lets assume a president and chancellor have been elected.

I will PM the president with 3 random policies from a deck of 17. The deck consists of 6 blue (liberal) and 11 red (fascist) cards. I will use random.org to see which 3 that player receives. The player then discards 1 and I'll then PM the chancellor with the other 2. The chancellor chooses 1 to play.

From there, I'll give a 24-48 hour phase depending on how much time we think we need for discussion. This is where you can lie. For example if a red card is played, that player could say he was given 2 reds and didn't have a choice. Or the president could call bullshit on that. There's no rule against a claim so anyone and everyone can call themselves liberal. At the end of this phase, the president moves left and chooses a new chancellor and we vote again. Note that I'll accelerate gameplay if people are on and vote faster. Note that the previous president/chancellor pair cannot be in office twice in a row so when you are president, you cannot choose from them. But if you were just a chancellor last term, you are still allowed to be president for the next term.

Lets say 3 votes failed...then I will automatically play a policy drawn from the deck.

This gameplay repeats until a team has won. Now, how do you win?

Liberals, you win if either 5 liberal policies are enacted OR if you kill Hitler.
Fascists, you win if either 6 fascist policies are enacted OR if AFTER 3 fascist policies are played, Hitler gets elected chancellor (remember there has to be a vote on this. I've had friends slam their hitler card down in delight only to be disappointed because they didn't vote it yet).

That's most of the game. There are other powers that happen throughout based on gameplay and the amount of players. Mostly from the president. Examples include:

Learning if someone is liberal or fascist (like a cop role but if you investigate hitler you'll only get fascist).
Nominating a president via a special election.
Killing a player.
Policy Peek.

I cannot tell you right now when these occur until we have a game layout and then I'll put all of that out there pregame. That's pretty much it. So this game needs a minimum of 5 players but a maximum of 10 or it will be unbalanced. When we have our player total, I'll randomize who is who and along with game setup, I'll tell you how many players are liberal and how many are fascist as that's part of the game.

Would you like to play?

1. Oldfield
2. Justin
3. Digger
4. Powers
5. Talon
6. Kirk
7. Lucas
8. Eli
9. Pancho

Ironically, I'm going to moderate a game that in real life doesn't need a mod LOL.

*Note this is an experiment that I hope goes well.*

Secret Hitler Mafia: A completely open setup based off the rules of Secret Hitler.

Why? My wife kickstarted this game for me and we've had all kinds of fucking fun playing this with people. Its great. Period.

The Rules
----

1. Day 1 will be 96 hours. All day phases after that will be 72 hours. Nights will have 48 hours. I will adhere to these times as closely as possible but I reserve mod discretion to alter times slightly if needed (I'm getting married next weekend).

2. Bold your votes. Vote: Doug Do them in a separate line not in the middle of a sentence. Please unvote before you vote for a separate player or it will not be counted.

3. Majority required for the lynch. 5 out of 9, 6 out of 10, 4 out of 6, etc.

4. Lynch will be called when the required vote total is reached. Unvotes after won't matter. If you're dead, other than a bah post you cannot post in the thread. There'll be a dead QT to talk about stuff.

5. No night talk in this game. You'll be too busy scheming anyway.

6. Night actions sent to me or in your QT if you have one in the time limit. If its after deadline it won't be used. You won't be penalized for not using your action other than the dikembe mutombo finger of shame.

7. Things you can get mod-shot for: quoting my PMs, editing your posts, unacceptable inactivity described below:

8. 48 hours inactive, gets a prod. Another 24 gets a 2nd prod. After that you're getting mod-shot. I don't want to do this at all and if you've got circumstances beyond our control I'm flexible. But if you're just not playing, you're getting shot.

9. Have fun, be nice, love thy brother and sister (unless you wanna shoot them).

10. Mod discretion applies.

Open Game Mechanic: The probability modifier.
----

Certain roles in this game will be under a probability mechanic. For example, if you are a 50% doctor and choose to use your ability, I will randomize a list of 100 words, 50 success and 50 fail. Whichever comes to the top of the list when I randomize it will decide if your action was successful. There are also ways which can alter the probability for a certain night phase. Thus changing your chances for the better or worse.

Why this mechanic? Because I like math and well think about shooting guns, you don't always hit your target.
