I think it is a long term positive move for us. Hodge needs a top level qb... we have that.

Rough win this week. Ground out the first half. Free scoring Miami next. Do you think we can contain them?

How good of a catcher is our fullback Sanchez? I wouldn't be opposed to having him have some reps at the TE position going forward.

We can do that, but at the same time, there isn't much in the way of tight ends on the market, I don't think.. might be just as well to just go in with a WR or FB as the back up TE.

Well we're gonna for sure fight for this win, coach. And if we don't? We know where we are as a team and know what we are striving for. We're gonna be great on both sides of the ball in years to come coach.

Losing out on Dorsey is tough. Though I know he wasn't starting for us I know losing any player due to injury is a punch in the gut. I wanna be able to move him to Injury Reserve and sign us a TE in free agency to take his spot for the remainder of the season.  Thoughts on that, coach?

SEATTLE LUMBERJACKS
PRESS CONFERENCE

WEEK 9

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

"This was a grind 'em out game and our players rose to the occasion in the big moments. Long Beach game in here determined and gave us one heck of a battle, but there isn't a team I trust more in the fourth quarter then this team right here. The big pass and catch from Brew to Pierce for the game winner and the defense just continually making big play after big play. Lightner with another HUGE game and honestly... I felt he was snubbed for the Defensive Player of the Week award. While we won the game though, we need to play more sound if we're going to be able to keep this winning streak going. We had some dumb penalties that cost us during the game, including a touchdown I think. But overall, can't nitpick too much when you're on a four game winning streak."

2. Give us an evaluation of the first half of the season for your team, who has stood out both good and bad?

"We've had a great first half of the season. Sitting at 6-2, atop of the standings... it's a testament to the hard work this team put in during the offseason. We felt like nobody was taking this team serious and we came into this season with a chip on our shoulder and something to prove. It's been fun as hell watching it. McKenzie Lightner is the player that has stood out to me in a good way. Now in his sophomore season, he built on his rookie season and has took his game to the next level. A huge reason we've been this successful. I wouldn't say this next player has stood out in a bad way... but I think we'd like to see him show why we brought him here in the offseason. That guy is Hugh Ulrich. We know the type of talent he possesses and it can be a difficult transition moving cities and teams and coaching staffs. But if we're going to be a serious playoff contender, we're going to need Hugh at his best and I know he can get there."

3. With where you sit in the standings, how do you feel about your chances of meeting your owners expectations and how do you grade your performance as GM, what about your job security?

"I think Mr. Reigns is grinning ear to ear right now. We've either met all the current expectations or am currently meeting them. We've exceeded last season't record, we're currently averaging just over 26 points per game, we beat Portland at home, and we beat Rapid City and Lincoln to boot. I would like to do more with getting the re-branding of the Lumberjack name out there, but winning football games has a tendency to do that for us. I'm not worried about job security... I'm worried about making this team a top contender for the foreseeable future."

4. Who is your league-wide Mid-season MVP?  Who has been the most surprising under performer?

"Right now for me, it's Merv Patton. This guy gets labeled as a game manager by the media, but all this guy does is put up eye popping numbers. He's led Orlando to 6-2 at the break and it's about time he gets some MVP recognition. As for an under performer, I'd say it's GM Dazz. He leaves Cleveland to join a better team that I created and broke up the coaching staff, acquired league sanctioned fines, and hasn't truly capitalized playing in a weak division. The only thing is though, I guess I'm not surprised by the under performance though."

5. Which of your division rivals has surprised you the most? How and Why?

"Has to be St. Louis. A Coach Tarr led team with the defense that they've built over there is creating all kinds of havoc for the rest of the teams in this league, let alone our division. We're looking forward to facing that type of challenge twice a season though."

6. With the Trade Deadline coming up this week, Do you see yourself as a buyer, a Seller, or do you plan to hold fast with what you have?

"I think it's easy for some to think we should be buyers in our position. First place and attempting to maintain that position despite the big guns in our division breathing down our necks. While I won't say we won't listen to offers, I will say that I'm really happy with what we've got."

7. What is your opinion on the league's newly announced luxury tax rule, do you believe it is fair, and do you believe it will benefit the league?

"I think it's the right progression for the league. If teams want to go "all in" then there is a price that has to be paid for taking that type of risk and advantage over teams that remain within the salary cap."

8. Talk about your game this upcoming week, what do you need to focus on most?

"We travel to Oklahoma to face the Tulsa Celtics. I know they've been stumbling a bit this season, but you always have to be prepared on the road and facing a running back like Christopher Allen. On paper, it's probably a game we should win, but there is no easy games in the HIFL. Just like Long Beach played us tough, I know Tulsa will be eager to try and knock us from the top. We're looking forward to this one... and Go Jacks!"

Alright, thank you, I say with the season almost done, we see how they take to the responsibility. I have seen many young players do well with the C. Thank you coach, I'll let you head out and I'll see you on the bus. Let's me finalize this here.

----

Ms. Watson can you get me DT Brian Ezell and CB Eric Evans

---

Gentlemen, I hope I didn't pull you off the bus. I think it's time for this team, especially this defense to go in a different direction with new leadership. After a discussion with Coach Munoz, it has come through his recommendation that he feels you two are the two players on defense who stand out to wear the C as two new captains on our defense. I know you both are young in this league but I believe wearing the C has less to do about age and more to do about heart. You two have displayed that heart by how hard you play week in and week out on that field. If we are going to start building this defense it is going to be around players like yourself, who share the same, drive, passion and focus for this game. Losing is never easy gentlemen and you along with a few others on this team have really held it together and done well in tough times. More than ever we need to pull this team together.  I hope you accept this responsibility and take this as a sign of trust that you two gentlemen along with a few others are part of this this teams future for the foreseeable future and beyond.
