TEAM : ALABAMA NIGHTHAWKS
« on: October 12, 2014, 01:21:23 PM »

Team Information
City: Mobile, Alabama
Conference: Eastern
Division: South
Team Owner: Mongo G. Woods
Team Secretary: Benjamin "Blue" Wallace

Official Colors:

Yellow (#FEF200)
Black (#231F20)

Team History:
The Alabama Nighthawks were founded by former football legend Bear Woods and  his wife Sally Saban. Together Bear and Sally ran the franchise as it steamrolled its way to 3 championships in 4 years.  One of Bear's last great moves as Owner/GM was orchestrating the trade that brought then-2x MVP running back Jose Mackey to Alabama's already dominant team in exchange for two players, 2 first round draft picks, and a second round pick.  While many criticized the trade as being a franchise crippler, Woods and Saban proved their move to be wise when they watched their Nighthawks repeat as Impact Bowl Champions by outscoring opponents 89-45 in the Playoffs.  Unfortunately both Bear and Sally passed away after their shrimp boat was lost at sea in an epic storm, but the team's legacy is now picked up by Bear and Sally's son, Mongo E. Woods, a former football player turned ping pong champion, Mongo isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but he wants to continue his family's legacy as football royalty.  The team is currently Coached by Bo Action, A player for Bear Woods when he coached in College Bo is a Hall of Fame Running Back and Heisman winner in College, Bo's career ended early due to injury, but he immediately jumped into coaching and under Bear's tutelage he has excelled. Bo's coordinators have left for potential head coaching jobs, so an incoming GM will be required to hire both offensive and defensive coordinators.

Hello, my name's Mongo, Mongo Woods.  Do you like Football games?  I could watch about a million and a half of these...
Momma always said life is like a football game, she was a real smart lady.

Hey man, my name is Benjamin Wallace, but all my friends call me Blue, you believe that?

Well my good buddy Mongo is lookin' for a GM to help run this team.  If you think you have what it takes to take the reigns of this dynasty, you step right up and tell us why you are the right man for the job.  We're going to be selective, so be ready for an interview.

Hello Mogo, hello Benjamin. My name is GM Franchise and I'm interested in GMing your team here in Alabama. I'm a huge football fan, I'm very good at stats analysis of players, I have a high football IQ, and my family is from the south so I think this team would be a good fit for me. I also have a lot of GMing experience both in the states and internationally so I think I'd be a good fit for this team going by that as well. I'd like to continue this team's legacy of success as the GM here. I look forward to talking with you more about working here in Alabama.

Hello, Mister Woods.  It is a pleasure to meet you.  I am Reya Serra Janason, but you may simply call me Reya.  I have been informed that your team is in need of a General Manager and I would like to offer my services.  I have prior General Manager experience, having managed the Louisville Thoroughbreds of the NBL as well as currently managing the Seattle Toppers of the FBL.  I also have playoff experience, though perhaps not as much as others that may apply for the position nor as much as you might prefer but I hope to change that.  In any case, I have faith that the Nighthawks have what it takes to soar back to the Impact Bowl and return to the next with another championship banner and I believe that I, along with my best friend Paxar as my assistant general manager if you would allow, can make that happen.

Okay, that is good. I remember my first pair of shoes... Momma said they'd take me anywhere.

Where would you take this team Miss Janason? We already have a head coach, but what type of coordinators would you like to hire?

I would like to hire a defensive coordinator that will use the defense to shut down our opponents and prevent them from scoring as much as possible and I would like to hire an offensive coordinator that will not only maintain the current potency of the offense but perhaps increase that potency as well.

Do you prefer to run the ball more, pass the ball more, or work a balanced team?

I believe that a more balanced offense would be preferable.  With both the running and passing threats that the team has, a balanced attack will most assuredly continue to keep opposing defenses guessing as the team racks up both points on the scoreboard as well as yardage.

I like what you've had to say Miss Janason, you remind me of my best good friend, Jenny.

Are you comfortable operating in an environment that will require your work be assessed each season? Our fan base demands we do well, so we can not guarantee a long term commitment unless you produce high quality football.

I firmly believe we have the team to play any style we choose.  The biggest task will be keeping all our weapons happy and satisfied.  We have an MVP running back and a playoff MVP QB with top flight WR's, so we need to make sure we mix it up enough for them all to get their touches.

Hello Reya, I played as a pro QB in another league, but after that I went on to coach at my Great Grandfather's University.  As a bible teacher and coach, I worked hard to develop and execute a shotgun style offense that works both the run and the pass games, I also have a knack for helping running QB's adapt to the pro game.

I believe your familiarity with the shotgun style as well as working with a balanced offense would make you the perfect offensive coordinator for the Nighthawks Mister Brigham and I would like to hire you.  Would a 3 year contract for 3 million per season be acceptable?

I've coached a long time.  I haven't been a coordinator in several years, but I prefer a 3-4 scheme that likes to blitz, but also plays quality coverage, a balanced attack.

I wouldn't mind being a head coach, but if the price is right I'd sign on to win a championship here in Alabama before getting my coaching job. 1 year 5.5MM.

Your preference of defense I feel would work well with this team.  Though it has been a long time since you have been a coordinator you do still have several years of coaching expertise under your belt, expertise that I believe would make you a very good defensive coordinator for the Nighthawks even if it is only for one season.  I would prefer a lengthier contract of course, but I understand your desire to once more be a head coach and your wanting to potentially use the defensive coordinator job here as a springboard to such a position.  I agree to your terms of a 1 year contract for 5.5 million and will send in the finalized paperwork to the league office immediately.  I look forward to working with you, Mister Crowder.  Thank you for your time.

Could I speak with Coach Action, please?

Hello, Coach.  I have a couple of things I wish to discuss with you.  First, I wanted to inform you that for this upcoming season I have hired Steve Brigham and Bill Crowder to be our offensive and defensive coordinators, respectively.  I firmly believe that you all will be able to work well together as we lead this team back to the championship.  Second, I would like to discuss extending your contract.  You have led this team to three championships already with, God willing, more to come and I feel that you deserve compensation for both the achievements you have already received but also those to come.  With that in mind, I propose a 50% increase in your current salary and increasing the length two more years to start at the beginning of Season 5, making it a 3 year contract for 9 million per season.  Would this be acceptable?
