The way I see it, you have three ways to make this "right."

1.  You make that deal effective immediately.

2. You make a new deal that pays Adrian more than any other running back in the league starting next year.

3. You trade Adrian or David Wilson to a division leading team.

I'll go option #2. I'll make him the highest paid running back in the league.

How does a 4 year deal worth $16.25mm with $3mm in PR starting in S11 sound?

Let's stick with the same three year deal, and make it fully guaranteed with a No Trade Clause and we're on good terms again.

I agree to all of those terms, gladly.

Again, I am very sorry about what happened. I'm glad we are on good terms. I look forward to signing and drafting the great talent you have here in the HIFL.

Elsa, please get me in touch with Michael Damon.

Michael, I've been impressed with your play and I want to go ahead and ensure that you stay in a St. Paul Lynx uniform for longer and with better pay. I would like to double your rookie deal and offer you a 4 year deal worth $4mm. Would that be something you would be interested in?

Let me rephrase, my intention is to double your salary. Of course I will be talking to your agent before anything is finalized. I was just wanting to gauge your interest in a double of your salary considering we still have time on your contract.

Man, I'm always down for more pay but the way you just got called out for skippin' on the agent... dude, you don't talk to me about that stuff. If my agent finds out we talked before you talk to him he's gonna light you a new one.  You just running back into a burning house after the fire department pulled you out... chillll bruh.

You are correct. Thank you for the advice. I don't know what I'm thinking.

We haven't had much time to chat anyway. I see your great play on the field, but what are you doing this week on the bye? Any plans?

The McFadden game has sick graphics this year. I'm blown away from what games were like when I was a kid. I love the updates each year.

With Best Buy as our sponsors, I might be able to get an early copy of the McFadden and we can play on the big screen...just don't cry if I win. Right? Haha!

Hey Drew, I'm calling about your client Michael Damon. I want to get him off of his rookie deal. Can we get a new contract ironed out to start in S11 for 4 years worth $4mm with $500k in PR? I have an idea that could really put his name out there in a great way and I want to capitalize on it. I think he's going to love it.

I understand. I made a mistake. I look forward to talking to you later this season.
--------
Elsa, can you get me with Coach Swope again?
--------
Hey Coach, while you were evaluating talent, I've been moving some talent. I believe I have strengthened our LB corps with trades that have benefited out team. We now have two more proven assets ready to play. I was thinking about moving Leake to the Mike and putting Schwartz and Carlos at the outside. Next week, after some practice, I would like your input as to which side you feel they would play well at.

I was thinking about making Craig Schwartz a captain to replace the spot that Dalton's move left open. He was a big part of the heart of Oakland and I think he will be a great addition not only on the field, but can encourage his teammates. He's been a respected player for years.

I'm very impressed with what has been sent to me. We have a lot of good material for the draft. Send my regards to the staff.

Big question...how hard was Crowe hitting GM Lucas? Were you there when it was going down? You okay?

Craig Schwartz is a captain in the spot Dalton left open.

Stephen Leake to middle linebacker with Schwartz and Gallaraga at outside linebacker. Swope decides what side.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

Not a lot went wrong. We played great football. I loved seeing that we had two Lynx players in the POTW. McCaffrey had a game for the history books. Hagan was a beast. Craig and Stephen made their presence felt immediately. John Carr is playing strong football and we had some huge plays from our passing game. We took care of the football and we played with great intensity. I couldn't be prouder of our team. I'd like to thank Best Buy and ADIDAS for their support to our team. I know you guys may get tired of hearing that, but these great sponsors have invested in the St. Paul Lynx and I'll always be grateful for that.

2. Talk about this weeks league news, what stood out most to you? (cover at least two topics)

The Atlanta situation is a sad one to see. Mr. Crowe was known as a tough, but great owner. He took pride in his team and to see it pulled from his hands is sad indeed. While the law of the land states we can't put our hands on someone else, the law of the old west showed us that sometimes if a man takes a good butt kicking, he could learn a valuable lesson. I hope GM Lucas learns a valuable lesson, but it's unfortunate that we are losing Mr. Crowe to another league. They just got stronger.

I'm shocked about Sasser's 0-3 day. In two seasons we have lost our first meeting with DC because of his golden toe. For the greatest kicker of our generation to have an off game like that is shocking, but seeing the fans turn on Sasser so quickly is very troubling. Sasser has bailed DC out of situation after situation over the years and for the fans to so quickly turn on him. I understand being disappointed...but to get mad at your golden goose because it laid a regular egg once after about 500 game winning, golden eggs. Seems hasty.

3. How did you feel about the first annual HIFL/NCAA Showcase?  Do you feel like it was a beneficial addition to the league?

I feel it was one of the best things to be added in the past few seasons. For us to have an opportunity to specialize our desires for the future of our team can help us on draft day without question. I'm a big fan of getting to see more players and different attributes.

4. What was your take on the amount of GM errors that occurred during the bye-week?

Sloppy paperwork and forgetting protocol. When you don't pat attention to detail or refresh yourself on the HIFL league rules, bad things can happen. You always have to stay sharp.

5. Do you plan on making any call ups this week before locking in?

I'm really liking our team right now, but from the reports I got, we have some hungry guys ready to come up from Duluth. This week, as I'm doing business, I'm going to be considering our options.

6. Talk about your game this upcoming week.

We play an extremely tough Orlando team that wants to get back on the successful track. The key for victory this week is for us to continue to play our game to the best of our ability. When we make teams play our way things can go in our direction. Orlando is hungry for success this year, as are we. I believe this will be a great football game between two teams trying to establish footing. We had a slow start, while Orlando had a great start. We are gaining momentum with some really big victories and they are on a two game slide. The key to victory is for us to find out how to stop their potent offense. If we can slow down their scoring, I believe our offense can put points up. If we play hard and make few mistakes, we can walk away with another victory.

Yes indeed. Feels good.

This week we play a very good offense. How do you think our defense compares to the likes of Patton and Best? Does their offensive line give up sacks?

Everyone gives up sacks, but I know what you mean.  They've only given up 4 sacks credited to the offensive line. Which is second best in the league.  However, Patton has been sacked 21 times this year.  You know our defense, we match up fine against everyone.

I like that. Hopefully we can keep that pressure up and make Patton hesitant. I'm sure that he and Best will try to connect early and often. A few picks could deter that.

After a previous talk with Coach Seaton, I've sent Stacy Bowen down to Duluth and I've called up Se'a Fetu.

Coach Minter had positive things to say about Fetu. I'm thinking about having him play behind Kyle Davis and Brian Yee this week and let him pick up plays here and there and let him get acclimated to the system. Does that sound like a wise decision to you?

Su'a Fetu? He is from the Samoan camp and showed promise so we signed him. He has showed so much  promise that Coach Minter believes he is call up ready, so I called him up.

Is that who you meant by your question?

Ahhh okay, see when you sent your paperwork to the league you requested Se'a Fetu, and that guy showed up here and was all sorts of out of shape... so we just were confused here.

Gotcha. I can see how that would be confusing. Sorry for the distraction.

Let's pick up another W this week.
-------
Elsa, it appears I made a mistake with the league office. Do we now have a player named S'ea Fetu called up to the main roster or can I resolve it to get S'ua called up?

I would simply make the correction to the league office, since we had no such player to call up.  You will simply have to deal with a less than happy Samoan now that he knows of such a mistake.

That's not fun. I'll have to come up with something. Thank you, Elsa. Should we call security on the other guy that showed up or has he already been shown out?

Elsa, I believe I have corrected the issue. Will you send Su'a Fetu in when he arrives?
------
Su'a, my apologies on messing up the spelling of your name in the call-ups. I meant no disrespect. This is a big time for anyone, a dream come true to be called up to the HIFL and I have somewhat tainted that by not spelling your name correctly. I want to make sure that everyone spells your name the right way from now on as I feel you have a bright future here with the Lynx. I would like to spend $250k in PR for specialized shirts to be made for all the fans at our next home game. I will also mail these shirts to your family. I will get with our digital art person ASAP and have them mark up some great logos and you can choose the one you like.

Does that sound good? I hope that will extend a warmer welcome.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

It was a nail biter fore sure. Missed kicks and players disappearing is what went wrong. Every stat on the stat sheet shows a team that should've won this football game. The vast majority of our players play extremely hard and have bought into our system. But it only takes a player who takes a play off or isn't committed to his craft to miss an assignment to lose points. My goal is to build a team of men who are like minded in work ethic and desire to win. Across the board. We are getting close to that goal.

What went right was that our defense played a fantastic game. When our offense was functioning, we saw impressive things from the pass game. Adrian McCaffrey is having an amazing year. If we put all the pieces together at once, there's no telling how good this team truly is.

I hate losing at home. If we had made just one of the field goals that were missed, this would be a different conversation.

2. Give us an evaluation of the first half of the season for your team, who has stood out both good and bad?

I feel like we are far better than our record indicates. On the positive side, I've been extremely impressed with AMC and Hagan. AMC is #2 in rushing yards and #1 in rushing TDs. Hagan has helped our defense go from one of the worst in run defense to the #1 team in rund defense. I've also been excited about the contributions of Eddie Brock.

I'm a bit disappointed in John Carr's production. I don't know what it is about our offense but when we play all the sudden their secondary has a PD party. We've had some drops, but there's something going on that I don't know how to fix. I have faith in John Carr. I signed him back for a reason, but I am disappointed in our production on the passing side. He can't help the drops, but the PDs are a different story. AMC is having a great year, 2nd in the league in rushing yards, he leads the league in rushing touchdowns and the only teams in the East who haven't produced more points than us are Milwuakee and Atlanta. I don't like that.

This offense should have well over the 192 points that we've scored.

3. With where you sit in the standings, how do you feel about your chances of meeting your owners expectations and how do you grade your performance as GM, what about your job security?

There are some expectations that we can now no longer make. There are a few we can still meet and I believe we will meet. I would grade my performance as a GM as an A. Our defense is one of the best in the league. We are #1 in stopping the run. AMC is having a great year. We've had guys who were prospects stepping up in big ways and we landed game changers in Hagan, Kidwell, Leake, Schwartz and others.

I feel like I have good job security. We have back to back conference championship games and were a blocked field goal away from the Impact Bowl. I still think this team is going to surprise people and we are a team that no one gets excited about playing because they will come out worse for wear.

4. Who is your league-wide Mid-season MVP?  Who has been the most surprising under performer?

My league wide MVP would have to be Anthony Smith with DC. He already has 74 pancakes and has given up no sacks. He's on his way to being a HIFL legend and this season has been no exception. His ability to give his runners and QB more time have helped them more than they realize.

League under-performer would have to be Stephen Shelly with Las Vegas. I scouted him hard in college. I wanted to bring him to St. Paul. I thought he was going to be a premier QB, and he still could be. He's gotta stop losing the ball. Las Vegas has a defense of legendary proportions, I hope he thanks them on a regular basis because if they were average, Las Vegas might have problems. I'm still a Shelly fan, but I expected to see more.

5. Which of your division rivals has surprised you the most? How and Why?

I would have to say DC. Dazz left a good situation in Cleveland to a good situation. He could've kept things the way Jon build it, but he put his spin on it to success. I didn't agree with some of the moves Dazz was making in the offseason and actually felt pretty good about him moving some of the pieces he did because I thought that would make the team take a hit, but it didn't. Dazz put his winning touch on another franchise. We have two teams in the North East Division that are products of GM Dazz's ability as a GM. Both have his imprint on them. You could say he deserves the credit for taking two franchises and making them his own and seeing victories. No many GMs can say that. I expected a bump in the road, but DC is regeared and looking to make great things happen with Dazz's vision.

6. With the Trade Deadline coming up this week, Do you see yourself as a buyer, a Seller, or do you plan to hold fast with what you have?

I feel this team is still a great team that can win ball games. I'm not looking to move players to build for the future. I'm in between being a buyer and holding fast to what I have. There is always a spot for strategy and there will be changes made this week.

7. What is your opinion on the league's newly announced luxury tax rule, do you believe it is fair, and do you believe it will benefit the league?

I like it. I have benefited from being able to make moves that have other teams taking a lot of contracts. I've done that because it is legal. Now that there will be punishment, teams will be more hard pressed to stay within their salary cap completely. I can dig it, but until it becomes a rule, I am pleased with what I've been able to do with my team.

8. Talk about your game this upcoming week, what do you need to focus on most?

Another giant this week as we play Alabama. Never, and I mean never, count out GM Pancho. He will have Alabama ready to take care of their home field. He has gone all in for this year, as I have, and we are both sitting right outside of the playoffs. I don't like this feeling and he doesn't either.

The key to our victory will be doing what we are supposed to do. Playing tough football. And playing OUR game. We do that, we can win the ball game.

GM Gooch, I'd say its a stretch to give yourself and "A" Grade When we have already failed two of our pre-season goals, and are failing two of the others..  However, you're job is safe, I love you here in St. Paul and you've done wonders for our franchise.  However we need to have a strong second half, especially our team being on the hook for the largest amount of Luxury Tax in the off-season.

Yes, we are. I feel like cutting the fat was what we needed after the start of this season. I'm a guy who likes to be nice to people, but this isn't a nice game. If we want to win, I felt cutting those three was the best decision.

Let's talk Alabama. I feel like we can exploit their corners...but can Carr get it to our WR in a timely fashion? I'm tired of seeing guys have the game of their life against us. That's at least two weeks this year that we've played teams who have swatted many balls from the sky. We've already made the passes shorter. I don't know what else to do.

How does our secondary fair against Ortega this week? I'm confident in our run defense. Do you think we can stop their passing game with what we have in place?

I think this is a game we can win if we play our game. I believe we can go and play spoiler in Alabama. They are a step behind us in the playoff hunt, I want to keep them behind us.

I was very impressed with Fetu in his debut. My plan this week is to put him at DT1. How do you think he's taken to our system? Coach Minter believed his personality would be a great fit for us. I know it's only been a week, but what is your initial assessment?

I think he was great in his limited snaps.  Do you want him on the left or right side of the formation?

That's the million dollar question. If we put him on Hagan's side, it really overpowers one side. That could cause damage...but it could also cause teams to run the opposite direction. If I put Davis over on Hagan's side, Davis could potentially disappear like Yee did, but Fetu could shine next to Wilson. What do you think would be most effective? Would you think it wise to overpower one side of the defensive line? Do you think teams would try to exploit that or would the risk be worth the reward?

It would be hard for a team to simply run to one side of the field for the entire game, but I see pros and cons to both ideas.  you will have to decide what you want to do.

Let's move Fetu to Hagan's side this week and Davis by Wilson.

I feel like we have a good chance at victory this week. I'm sure you will have the team ready. I'm going to sign a few players, talk to a few, and then I'll send the paperwork to the league. Let's get that W, Coach!
---------------
Elsa, please get Anthony Campanelli on the line for me.
---------------
Mr. Campanelli, I'm wanting to sign your kicker, Matthew Johnson, to a contract. How does finishing the year on a $250k contract sound?

Wonderful, thank you!
------------
Elsa, please get me in touch with Bobby Shapiro.
------------
Bobby, I have an outside of the box idea that would get one of your clients a raise and get him playing HIFL football. I have Manaia Faamoana in our minor league system. I am not able to make call ups this week. What I would like to offer is to cut him from his current contract and then resign him to the same contract but with some extra PR. He would get half of the current contract for the life of it and then get the same on his current contract. So he'd be getting a raise, but in a round about way. Would this work with you?
