They are on the ropes, we need to go for the kill early and demoralize them going into the second game.

"I think we can do that, Coach. They are stronger in the passing game, so I think we trust our good run defense up front and repeat the blitz package that was so successful against Long Beach. I figure if we can make Trevor Jose have to make quicker reads, it could lead to some mistakes on their part. Swift performed well against Missouri, but it also took him a lot of carries to get over the century mark and I trust our run defense. You okay with that, Coach?"

"Alright Coach, sounds good. Let's take it to the Scorpions this week!"

-----

"Lolly, can you please get in contact with GM Pancho in Long Beach for me."

-----

"GM Pancho, how are things? I felt the tribute we paid to your tight ends went rather swimmingly, however, it appeared to cost our franchise in the sum of 500k in PR. I know there was no cost negotiated in our agreement as I think we both felt it wouldn't amount to any. I didn't have to honor that request, but I did so with the hopes of a new working relationship with you. I don't feel our franchise paying the money is fair in this circumstance and I am asking, would you now do the honorable thing and cover this PR cost?"

Well I was feeling good about our new friendship but from what I'm understanding this conversation doesn't sound so friendly.  It's odd that you say I felt that the cost of the celebration wouldn't amount to anything since 1) I already paid 500k for my TE to have golden bracelets and 2) I went into the negotiation expecting to pay you a sum of money.  My head coach Mr. Ginobili alerted me that we would have to pay you for your services but when you didn't ask for any my respect for you grew.  Now I see that you were not being kind.  You were being a fool.

And now that I have spent my money on 500k worth of jewelry when I asked to use your facilities first and you gave me no charge ... now that I only have 250k left of PR and you have 1.5 Million you want to give me a 500k tab!?

I was wrong.  You haven't changed from your NBL days.  Your methods have simply grown over the years and now you are trying a new one on me.  Economics!!

"I didn't realize you purchased anything for anyone. I am not your accountant. The fact that your head coach alerted you that it would cost something and you didn't even bother to bring it up, yes, congratulations, I guess you accomplished your mission of making me look foolish.

I don't know what your PR budget is at... I have my own job to worry about here. I'm glad you've developed enough interest in my own budget, sort of stalkerish, but I understand your obsession with me.

I tried to make amends, but you were looking to take advantage of my kindness and I guess I need to be more cautious for next time.

Good day, GM Pancho."

"Hello sir, I'm not sure what you'll be able to do in this situation, but I figured no harm in asking. Recently during our home game against the Long Beach Mermen, we agreed to honor the 400 career reception milestone of Joseph Herzog and Armand Block. I didn't realize this would come at a price for us, as I was told by my owner, Mr. Kiss. This was a celebration to honor a HIFL milestone and something that makes the HIFL brand look good in the process. We lost out on 500k PR due to my negligence to ask Long Beach to cover this cost. Is there anything HIFL can do to cover this expense? If not, then I will accept my losses. I appreciate your time, sir."

While I feel bad for you and your team in this situation, it appears this cost was between your team and your sponsors for your local home game broadcast.  There is nothing the league can do to help.

If I may ask, why is 400 catches so special, wouldn't 500 be a more fitting milestone?

Not only did it give us the lead, but it sparked this team to a victory over the best the Western Conference has to offer. Our special teams has been a huge bright spot this season and last week you reminded everyone that you're a big reason for that."

D.C. COBRAS
PRESS CONFERENCE

"We have found ourselves on quite a nice winning streak as of late. I know the Eastern Conference has held their own against the West, but we just defeated the team that went to the Impact Bowl last season. When I took over this position, there was a lot that needed to be done. We had talent here, but we needed to find someone who could get it out of them. We found that person in Coach Saint. Heck of a game by the boys and we'll look to replicate it in Vegas this upcoming week.

First half of the season was really going to be a measuring stick for this team. Find out what works... what doesn't. But then the injury to Christian occurred and we sort of had to make some decisions on the fly. We had some growing pains through the first half, but right now we sit at 5-3 and I guarantee you there wasn't a whole lot of people who had us pegged at 5-3 at this point in the season. Our players have bought into what we're trying to accomplish here and so far, it's translating on the field.

This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for D.C. and so far, we are turning it into a successful year that has us heading in the right direction, in terms of making the postseason. We need to keep playing with confidence. We need to keep our focus on getting better each and every week."

"MVP for the first half this season for us has been Larry Stevens. He has captained our defense and led the charge of a rebirth of sorts for this organization. Although he is young, he carries himself like a veteran of the game and has been a role model for our fan base and really, HIFL in general.

As for the league MVP, man, so many great candidates in this league, but the guy that really sticks out to me as someone that is most valuable... would be Curt Robles of Tombstone. The guy does it all offensively for that team and has put together some impressive video game like numbers."

How sweet it is, GM Jon!

We hired you with the hopes of "one day" being a respectable franchise, but what have you done? You have us 1 win away from tying our best win total in the history of this team.

You're showing we aren't hollow like a chocolate bunny, we're filled with nougat, caramel, and not that many nuts, hehehe.

You are making this team not only a ferocious on the field, but sweet on the market.  We've got jersey sales going well and fans are loving our winning ways.

You are the highest rated GM in the league and we are honored to have you here, your job is obviously safe but I want to raise the expectation level for the last half of the year, let's make the playoffs.. Do that and I'll have a tasty treat for you after the season, and you'll like what I have to offer.

Any questions for me before you get back to work?

D.C. COBRAS
PRESS CONFERENCE

"What can I say? Another all-heart performance by this team. To beat the runner-ups from last season in back to back games, just shows how far this team has already come in a short amount of time. In a game where we struggled to get things go offensively, our defense played exceptionally well, including two second quarter pick sixes and seven sacks! We sit at 6-3, won four in a row... and for the first time in franchise history, we can see the playoffs as a real possibility.

We travel to Lincoln this week for a chance to continue our streak. Lincoln is a team we were able to play in our preseason match-up in their house... so we somewhat know what to expect from them. We look forward to showing them how far this team has come from that preseason game!"

We are clearly one of the hottest teams in the league, but with Patton doubtful and Christian still a question mark, I'm worried that this week could be a trap game.

But I hear ya Coach... we just can't seem to stay healthy at the QB position and still... we find ways to be victorious. I'm fairly hopeful that Christian will be able to go, but if not and Patton can't go either... Royal can get the job done. I'm assuming Christian will come down to a game time decision again, yes?"

"I know the Cobra faithful are just as anxious as the rest of the team to see him under center again. In terms of game play against the Pride... I've really liked what we've done on defense since we increased our blitzing packages. I mean seven sacks against the Scorpions was mighty impressive. On offense though, we've seem to struggle a bit at times. Do you think that is more to with our set-up or that it's been difficult to build chemistry with our inability to stay healthy at the QB position?"

D.C. COBRAS
PRESS CONFERENCE

"Sorry for the lateness everyone. Hope you all are having a fine afternoon.

Man, what a game... unfortunately this time, we came out on the losing end of a last second field goal. With that being said, I thought our boys fought hard all game long. We made the fourth quarter comeback, Sasser gave our team the lead, but in the end, the Pride made one more play then we did. So hats off to the Pride and GM Corbin... it was a fun back and forth affair.

It was good to see Christian back under center and for as much time off as he had and playing in front of a prideful fan base... I thought it did very well. Sure we didn't get the "W", but Christian is only going to get more comfortable as we head towards the postseason.

Up next we host the Tombstone Outlaws. This is a team that can light up the scoreboard like the fourth of July. And I'm not sure there is a better offensive weapon in the HIFL then Curt Robles. It's sad to hear about the injury to Smoak and we here in D.C. wish him a speedy recovery... but it doesn't change the way we plan for this game. We know how important wins are late in the season and in front of Cobra Nation, we look forward to notching a franchise best seventh win this week!"

The press seemed content with things, or they were ready to go home, haha... Interesting match up this week, Tombstone is good, but without Smoak they are very one denominational, but any QB can throw 3 TDs when Robles is catching balls out of the backfield...

"It's strange, but it is really all about stopping one guy. He's that good. And I'm not sure focusing on the run or the pass is really beneficial as Robles can burn us in both games. How do you feel about Christian after his first game back?"

D.C. COBRAS
PRESS CONFERENCE

"Man, what a game!! It's crazy to think that during this game, Omer reminded all of us that he is indeed human when he missed an extra point. Then we all soon realized that it was just a fluke as he drilled the 61 YARD game winner!! I knew this was going to be a tough game between two talented football teams and it sure lived up to that billing. Curt Robles... man... is he the real deal. Despite him scorching us at times, I felt our defense did an excellent job at limiting his production, especially on the ground. And it seemed like there was three Larry Stevens out on the field, he was everywhere! Another great team performance and I'm proud to say a now franchise record seven wins on the season!

Up next we travel to Missouri to face them for a second time. We know the Bruins are a run heavy team and we were able to take them out of their comfort zone when we played them in week one. I feel both us and them are better teams now and it should make for another exciting Eastern Conference showdown.

As for the ESPN news story that was released with the very kind words from Christian Sullivan... man... what can I say. I love what I do. I absolutely love my job. When I took over this position, it was with ever intention to make a winner out of D.C. because this is a fan base that deserves that. I can't take all the credit though... I'm but just one man. The credit lays in the hands of our excellent coaching staff and players that have bought into a winning system and ran with it. It takes more then just a GM to make a franchise become a winner and I was luckily enough to find the right pieces and attain the right players to make all this happen so quickly. We still have a lot of goals we want to achieve as team this season, but we are certainly headed in the right direction and I'm proud to be apart of Cobra Nation!"

Larry Stevens had 18 Tackles in this game, and has 120 on the year, doubling the total of his first two seasons combined.  How remarkable has his season been?

"He has been the anchor on our defense... he has been so incredible this season. I know there are quite a few worthy candidates for defensive player of the year... but Larry Stevens should be somewhere very high on that list. He has meant a lot to this team this season and is a huge reason we've seen the success we've had. I honestly can't say enough good things about the man... on and off the field... he is a role model for HIFL."

"Coming back from a broken arm is no easy task and Christian has performed very well since his return from injury. And with each week, he'll slowly get back into the form he had prior to the injury."

"First and foremost, I came to D.C. for a reason and that was to make us a winner. Unless Mr. Kiss wants me out, I'm here to stay. Secondly, I don't know GM Apollo on a personal level, but it was evident during the season that he lost control of his team. The meltdown was a bit unprofessional, but to each their own. I'm sure Las Vegas will return strong next season."
