Not really, Coach Ridley and Coach Swope are the best two defensive back coaches in the league.

Okay, thanks for the information Miss Callie.  Can we get Coach Ridley in here?

*****

Coach, I've been trying to come up with a way to get the most out of our 2 corners that are, at this time, liabilities.  I trust in your ability to Coach them up.  Spend as much time with them as you can, without taking anything away from the rest of the defense.  You know what I mean.

Ladies and Gentlemen.  I am proud to stand here and represent the Tombstone Outlaws, especially after those two games that we just played.  Wins and losses mean nothing in the preseason.  What matters is what you see in your players.  Their heart.  Their skill.  Their determination.

What I see when I look at the Outlaws, is a team that may technically be "rebuilding".....but we're a team to be reckoned with sooner, than later.

The biggest part of the offseason rebuilding process was revamping the Wide Receiving corps.  I am pleased with the progress being shown thusfar.  The defense is also showing signs of being quite strong.

I will now take questions from the gallery.

In game 1, we played mostly backups, to see if anyone stepped up.  Goldstein did, in a big way, with 11 tackles and a pick 6.  Very impressive.

In game 2, our offense turned up to play.  All credit goes to our QB, Caleb Smoak, who really distributed the ball very well, keeping the defense off guard.

Well, I figured I covered that on the goddamn sheet of paper I submitted to the cocksuckers at League office.  Most of these cocksuckers are fine, but that one cocksucker... the Guard Fermin Roberts, he's still havin' trouble seeing straight, its like he got kicked by a mule or something.  He's questionable, I'd say 50/50 right now to play or not to, but the cockersucker will have to decide at game time if he can see well enough to play the fuckin' game.

Well shit, I read that piece of fuckin' paper, but I wanted to hear it from your goddamn lips.

My main fuckin' question is, if we sit that sonofabitch Fermin this week, will it enhance the cocksuckers ability to play next fuckin' week, and not make this a nagging problem.

Fermin, I'd like to offer you my deepest apology. I'd also like to explain to you what happened.

You walked in during a conversation I was having with our team doctor. Doc Wurd is a unique individual. He uses very.....colorful....language. In an effort to "bond" so to speak, I allowed my self to use inappropriate language as well. You walked in at the apex of that.

I say that not to excuse my actions, but to properly frame them. I wanted you to understand that I wasn't calling you names behind your back or anything if the sort, instead I was exercising poor judgement in my bonding technique.

Fermin, I'm embarrassed for my actions. There is no excuse for someone in my position to stoop to that level. Again, I wish to whole heartedly apologize to you, and assure you that this incident will never be repeated. I will endeavor to remain professional, at all times.

I expect, and accept that I've damaged my reputation in your eyes. I just hope that you'll afford me the opportunity to redeem myself by showing you, in due course of time, the true content of my character.

My hat is off to the Lincoln Pride, they played a hell of a game.  But I am proud to be standing here before you all on the winning side of the fence.  Caleb Smoak proved why he is the Franchise Quarterback here in Tombstone, while our running attack ate up yards.  Our defense did an admirable job stopping the Pride when it mattered most.  All in all, a very successful week.

To answer a question before you inevitably ask.  I don't have an update on Robles as of yet.  I need to speak with him, and the medical staff before any decisions are made.

Next week, we have Pearl Harbor.  A team that look good in defeat this week, they will be no easy task.  I look forward to the challenge, as I am sure our players do as well.

Are there any questions?

Do you think that this team can continue to produce defensive efforts like the one today? 6 sacks is a huge amount of pressure.

I have the uptmost confidence in Coaches Rudino and Ridley to guide these men with terrific schemes, but I also have the confidence in the men to execute them, and to get the job done.  4 different men logged a sack in that game.  That isn't an accident, that is preparedness.

Absolutely, I am more than pleased about how our offense is running this early in the season.  I was a bit worried when I saw Robles go down, but it seems like he's gonna be alright.

I just wish we could do something to improve at the corner.  I know we are what we are at this point, but that could be our achillies heel.  We may just need flat out outscore our opposition, if it comes down to it.

I'd even say we should consider playing Goldstein in our base package, maybe work him at strong saftety and let Johnson use his speed on the outside at corner, Or we cut Brown and sign a free agent like  Jamie Hunter or  Eric Scott both of them give us speed on the outside which is what we lack with Ross and Brown.

Good news indeed Coach. He'd be a BIG loss for us. Anyway, I'll let you get back out on the practice field. Would you mind asking James Brown to come in here. Might as well get this unpleasantness out of the way early.

*****

James, thanks for coming.  Unfortunately, I don't have good news for you. The Coach and I have been talking, and we don't think the fit is very good here. We need more speed out there than you're able to provide.

James, I'm sorry, but we're going to cut you. I understand this is difficult. I wish that things had worked out, but unfortunately these things go this way sometimes. Best of luck to you, and your future.

Scott, thanks for your time. I wanted to let you know that, after discussing things with the Coach, we've decided to part ways with James Brown. Purely a business decision, I assure you.

Speaking of business, we've targeted another of your clients to fill in the void. Jaime Hunter. We'd like to offer a 1 year, $2 million dollar deal for his services.

Clearly if you just released my client who was making 2.5 and you're looking to upgrade you'd offer more money to do so.

We want 3.5 million.

It just so happens that $3.5 million is the exact amount I have left under the salary cap. You've got a deal. Welcome him to Tombstone for me!

Jamie, welcome to the Outlaws. Can't wait to see what you can bring to the secondary.

Thanks for giving me the chance to play this season.  Once I learn the defense I should be good to go.
