1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

-This was a rough week.  We struggled mightily against a team, in all honesty, we should have beat.  Our defense got scorched, we turned the ball over, couldn't get anywhere with the passing game, and didn't get much pressure on the QB.  Not to mention we were terrible on third down.  We did pretty well running the ball, but not a lot else.

2. Talk about this weeks league news, what stood out most to you?

Good ol' GM Franchise and almost having his team in the wrong place.  Classic Franchise.

3. What do you make of the news of the newest GM's to join the league? What advice would you give them?

I think it's great.  It's always good to see new blood around.  My advice to them is to be themselves and construct their team how they see fit.  Secondly, I would encourage them to build a strong working relationship with their coaching staff.

4. With the draft class being announced later this week, do you plan to target personalities, skill sets, or position groups at the college showcase?

For me, target positions will be what I'm laser focused on.

5. What do you hope to gain most this week during the bye week, for yourself but also for your team?

A chance for some of our guys to get healthy and rest. We are still in the thick of things and we have to make sure we remain focused and work on improving ourselves.

Dak has proven that he can run the offense.  Just two weeks ago he was the league wide Offensive Player of the Week.  With that being said, Dak knows and understands that he has to be more consistent with his performances.  Depending on James' health we might have to add a third quarterback to the roster for insurance purposes.

Most definitely an understatement. Looks like our QB inconsistencies are going to weigh us down unless James can stay healthy.

James' injuries definitely cause stumbling blocks, but outside of a trade, Dak is our best option when/if James can't go.

Yes, indeed.  Coach, before I let you go, do you have any objections to me putting Tim Collier on injured reserve?  It appears to me that he won't be back this season.

No objection at all.  It's a shame to lose him for the season, we just have to hope he comes back in the off-season and is able to pick up where he left off.

Yeah, it's disappointing, but I'm confident he will come back strong.  I will let you get back to preparations while I handle a couple of things.

Ms. Dossey, I've made a mistake or two in my past as it relates to making roster moves so I'm hoping you can help keep me straight.  Now, I've combed through my handy HIFL rule book and for the life of me I can't find exact information about placing a player on IR.  If I place Collier on IR I know it will open a roster spot, but his salary still counts against the books, correct?  Also, since I signed Richard Taylor to our minor league team, can I bring him up to the main roster now or do I have to wait until the next "call-up" window?

You are correct sir.  A player on IR comes off of our 40 man roster but his salary remains.

We may not call up a minor league player until the next call up window, however I believe in future seasons this may change from what I hear from a friend at the league office.. but for now, that is the policy.

Thank you for confirming that.  Can you get me in touch with Tim Collier please.

Tim, I am disappointed about the injury news and I know you are as well.  Our main concern right now is you get to feeling better and come back stronger next year.  Just know that we are here for you and support you.

Kawann, wanted to check in with you. You're having a good season thus far, 5 sacks, 5 TFLs.  Doing a great job anchoring our D-line

Each move individually was solid, but I'm a little confused by the pair.  I feel like adding Chandler is an all-in push for winning now kind of move, but trading away Craig was more of a rebuilding type of play.  So I guess I'm just not sure which direction we're trying to go right now.

Chandler was definitely a big move to bolster the defense and hopefully put more pressure on the QB so that we can lessen the pressure on our secondary.  As it relates to Craig, I originally didn't have plans on moving him, but GM Gooch made me an offer.  My thinking behind it wasn't a "rebuild" type of move in my eyes, instead it was an insurance and depth move.  What I mean by that is the two offensive linemen prospects are legit and are insurance in case Britt and/or Schmitt leave in free agency.  We have them to fill in those spots.  Dalton's production is paltry thus far, but he's hidden on the depth chart and if I'm not mistaken St. Paul runs a lot of nickel defense.  Will he replicate the production of Craig...probably not, but I do believe he will be able to hold is own.  Also, we got a couple of high round draft picks that we will be able to further build our foundation.

Sorry for the rambling, but I hope that makes sense.

I hear you, I appreciate the explanation.  Its good to hear the boss has a plan and isn't just making moves to make moves.  I respect that.  Craig was a big part of the team, but guys know its a business, and this kind of thing happens.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

-Frustrating, very frustrating.  That's two games in a row that we should have won that we lost.  We were up 24-7, but couldn't pull out the victory.  Honestly, we got carved up in the air.  Sullivan had all the time in the world to make throws and he made them.  Drops....we got killed by drops once again.  Penalties kicked our butts as well.  With that being said, I liked how we did against the run and our special teams continues to be pretty good.

2. Talk about this weeks league news, what stood out most to you?

-The whole situation with GM Lucas and Mr. Crowe is a tough one.  It's really bad to see that happen and Mr. Crowe having to put the team up for sale.  It's kind of disturbing to see the fans lash out against Sasser.  The guy has won so many games for that organization and for them to kind of turn on him for one bad game.  It's really disappointing.

3. How did you feel about the first annual HIFL/NCAA Showcase?  Do you feel like it was a beneficial addition to the league?

I thought it was great.  It is definitely beneficial to the league as well as the college players.  It gives them more exposure to HIFL and it gives the organizations a chance to see these guys during the season up close and personal.  It's great.

4. What was your take on the amount of GM errors that occurred during the bye-week?

-It happens.  GMs get caught up in the excitement of making trades and roster moves to try and improve the team and sometimes overlook the small details.  Though, I'm not quite sure how in the case of GM Metro...how in the heck you trade someone who is not a part of your team.

5. Do you plan on making any call ups this week before locking in?

-Yes.

6. Talk about your game this upcoming week.

We have Portland.  Quite frankly, this is a game we have to win in order to stay in the playoff hunt.  We have to go out and execute in all facets of the game.

It's brutal coach...just brutal.  We have the talent, just a consistency thing.

Agreed, it's just a gut punch every time, in the meantime.

How do you feel our approach is on both offense and defense?  Do you think any adjustments need to be made or is par for the course the way we should keep things?

I feel like early in the game when we are able to play our game we do great, but once we slip behind we are forced to throw more, and the more we throw and the more we face drops, the more we struggle.    Right now I think it just comes down to not losing a lead, but I don't feel like we're running the wrong defense either.

I'm following you coach.  Well I won't keep you long, so I will do a couple of things and then send the lock in information.

Ms. Dossey, can you get me in touch with Jay C please.

Jay, I'm looking to extend Clifford Barbour starting next season at 3 years $8mm.

We'll make that deal, if you tack on 500k in PR.

I can agree to that.  I will submit the paperwork.  Good talking with you.

Ms. Dossey, can you get me in touch with Christopher Chandler please.

Christopher, welcome to Oakland.  I brought you in to elevate our defense, I think adding you to the d-line gives us the best one in the league.

Man, I don't play no kiss up and kiss ass games, but word.  Real talk, I'm glad to be out of that hell hole in Atlanta. I'm gonna bring the heat on these quarterbacks.
