Well our first drive ended at midfield when Bloom was sacked from behind and fumbled the ball, we got it back thanks to Johnson, but we had to punt it away..  From their They ground us down with a ridiculous twenty-play drive that ate the final 8 minutes of the 3rd quarter down.  They went from their own 10 and drove all the way down the the 3 yard line and had to kick a field goal.  Its a miracle we held them to that considering how exhausted the defense was from that drive.

We got hte ball back to start the 4th drove the ball a bit but then three straight incomplete passes forced us to punt once again.  With a 1 point lead, we had to buckle down, but they came out and started driving again.  We pinned them back at their own 6, but Their first play was a 51 yard pass to Ramos.  From there they kept working and moving the ball through the air and scored a touchdown.  Luckily the 2Pt was no good thanks to Schumacher, but we just couldn't get in gear.  Our next drive saw us hit Garrett for 31, but then later when we were at their 25, Bloom was sacked by Wallace and it pushed us out of field goal range.   We had to punt, but we forced them to go 3 and out.

We had 4:30 to play at our own 20, but the first pass was Bloom looking for Payne and Chong turned it into a pick six..    From their we just had to go into all out desperation mode, and it led to us going for it on 4th and 6 from their 23, but we couldn't get the first down, and then Michigan just ran out the clock.

So what would you say contributed to it then? Fatigue from the long play? Certain players not performing or just bad luck?

That 20 play drive really took its toll on our defense, it exhausted them and when we couldn't march the field for a long duration of our own, it just compounded.

Offensively, I'd say bad luck and good defense from Michigan, but defensively, we just had to ask too much of them.

Cool man.

I have to ask. Where do you feel are our biggest weaknesses in our team? I'm looking at our team and I love it but where needs strengthening?

If I had to pick something, it would be our nickle corner.  I like Frost but I think he is still a year or so away from being well rounded enough to give us some solid consistent play.  Outside of that, I can't point at anything.  I think a lot of our losses and bad showings have come down to bad luck.

I don't see the need to make any moves. We have some talent down there but they are blocked by our already talented starters.

I like the balance we have right now.  While Francisco Johnson might benefit from regular starts, I like him being available in case of injury as well.

S10 WEEK 9

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?
We came up against a plucky Tulsa team that took the game to us and we managed to overcome adversity and get the win. What disappointed me was when they came up against it, Tulsa decided to try and crock our players. Justice prevailed though. It's good to get a win at home though.

2. Give us an evaluation of the first half of the season for your team, who has stood out both good and bad?
The good has been we've kept up the success we had last season with the talented roster we have. The bad has to be that we are still struggling to find consistency. If we can get that sharpened up, the second half of the season will be a lot better for us all.

3. With where you sit in the standings, how do you feel about your chances of meeting your owners expectations and how do you grade your performance as GM, what about your job security?
I see myself grading at a B right now. Everything is coming together and we are bang in line for the playoffs again but there is still room for improvement. We could improve out home rescord but we have scored more points than nearly anybody else in the league. We've beaten KC but lost ro Rapid City; something I aim to rectify. I'm under contract so security for me is fine right now. It doesn't allow me to rest on my laurels though as I am like the owners; I strive for something more.

4. Who is your league-wide Mid-season MVP?  Who has been the most surprising under performer?
For me, I may be biased but you can't look further than Thomas Large. The guy has delivered for us this season and is developing well with Carl Bloom. Under performing is for the dirt sheet writers to snipe about. I don't get drawn into that.

5. Which of your division rivals has surprised you the most? How and Why?
Rapid City haven't had the best of starts to this season. It may mean I avoid them in the playoffs!

6. With the Trade Deadline coming up this week, Do you see yourself as a buyer, a Seller, or do you plan to hold fast with what you have?
I have my eye on proceedings but if they happen, when they are announced will be when I announce them AFTER the deals have been agreed.

7. What is your opinion on the league's newly announced luxury tax rule, do you believe it is fair, and do you believe it will benefit the league?
I love it. Exploiting teams and funding championships should be clamped down on going forward and I support this.

8. Talk about your game this upcoming week, what do you need to focus on most?
A trip to Miami... They love to score big, we love to score bigger. There's a reason that it will be the featured game.

GM Wrong!  It's time for that mid-season chat!   So far we're on pace to make the playoffs, we're on pace to finish in the top 10 in PPG since we're in 2nd place, We've got a win over KC already, and we still have another chance to get a win over Rapid City... We're 1-3 at home, and we wanted to be above .500, which would mean we need to win all of our home games to close the year, but we believe in you!  Zukazama!

Just saw the news!  Bold move trading two of our fan favorites, but if Hodge can deliver, they'll be replacing their Large and Cox jerseys with Hodge jerseys in no time! ...Risky but potentially satisfying.  We'll see how it goes!

It's a risk I've balanced up. I put the like of the fans against the talent of Michael Hodge and while he's struggled with mediocre Quarter backs, we have one of the best in the game. Large Cox forged a cult following, Michael Hodge can forge a legacy here

I think it is a long term positive move for us. Hodge needs a top level qb... we have that.

Rough win this week. Ground out the first half. Free scoring Miami next. Do you think we can contain them?

I think the bigger question is can our top tier scoring offense score on their top tier defense. We're scoring 32.5 a game, but they are only giving up 16.8 ...They score 29 a game and we allow 28.5..

The Doc says he's healthy enough to play, but there is the risk of furthering the injury if he really takes a bad hit, but its unlikely... the worst case is it effects his footwork and limits his mobility.

I just want to make sure you are going to be ok. Doc had you down as doubtful on the listing and it looked to be a hefty bump you took.

I know you have the heart of a lion but I want you to look after yourself. I don't want an act of bravado setting you back long term. I won't tell you to not play but if we get a little breathing space, take a rest ok?

Right...

Everyone please.

The first half of the season has been decent. Inconsistent but decent and we are in a good place right now.

I know some of you were close to Tommy and Mike but our two new recruits are here to make sure that the second half of the season is even better and goes even further than last year.

Carl has told me he is fit to play but he knows to step back if he's not 100%.

Large Cox were a great part of building our franchise, what I believe all of you standing before me can do is, is forge a legacy. ..

You boys have always had faith in me. Keep it going now as we go into battle once more...

S10 WEEK 10

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?
I'm understandably disappointed to be on the losing end of the result. Miami are a solid team this season and it was going to be tough. What was good to see though was Hodge and Bloom working very well together.

2. With the All-Star Rosters being announced this week, what is your take on the composition, any snubs or surprises from your own team?
It's nice for the boys to get on the roster but I'm never butthurt at not seeing a player on there whether it's warranted or not as it's always a potential injury in an extra game.

3. What news stories stood out to you this week?
To hear that Mr Carr is considering experimtal procedures for injury recovery worries me. I've heard of horror stories in the past such as this and it never ends well. I wish him and all the recent injured players a speedy recovery.

4. Talk about your game this upcoming week, what do you need to focus on most
A trip to DC and a big focus on defence is paramount for us going forward

Defensively tired and offensively sound.

Sound fairly accurate?

I think so. I think defensively we're just in a bad rut, and we're having trouble getting out of that hole.

Is there anything we can do? Change of tactic, bring up one if the rookies?
