I was thinking maybe just a day off to recharge and enjoy the luxurious nothingness of Nebraska to clear their heads.

Go for it. Make sure they have a relax day. Still, make sure they don't go off of the rails or take liberties with the rest day and we will hopefully recharge their batteries going into the DC game.

Anything tactically to change before I lock us in?

Oh, I won't let them go wild, I just think a little break would do them good, sometimes driving them harder in failure just blows up in your face.

As for strategy, I think maybe we shift some things around, I have some ideas that I'll make and see if it helps this week against the Cobras.

S10 WEEK 11

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?
What went wrong was quite possibly our Empire Strikes Back of this season. Carl Bloom is injured, we suffer a horrible defeat and we are back to back defeats. Our defense got worn down and we suffered as a result.

2. Talk about any news your team is involved in this week, as well as what other news stories stood out to you this week?
Questioning Carl's fitness following his injury is not nice to hear. Yet again the negativity feeding locusts emerge.
Thomas Large is understandably upset at the trade but I have every faith in him still achieving greatness.

3. Talk about your game this upcoming week, what do you need to focus on most?
Music City is on the horizon and they have squeaked out a dramatic victory. Hopefully we can stand firm against them

So... Carl wants to play, I'm giving him a firm no.  The Doctors say he needs at least 4-6 weeks..

Whats going on with him? He clearly has something that keeps on pushing him a jeopardising his health. What was that medical story all about?

He's been banged up a few times in his short career so the press is just questioning his durability.  I think his toughness is a part of his desire to play even when hurt, he doesn't want to be perceived as soft or weak, but clearly right now he can't play.  He wants to be there for his team, and that is great but we can't risk his entire career letting him played this injured.

No, not unless we lose Morris or Crocker in an emergency situation.  I think Morris will be a capable backup, but clearly not as dynamic as Carl.

We struggled against Mixon on the ground, but we held them in check and limited their scoring, if we were healthy with Bloom I think we could've won this one.

I'm not as concerned with Music City, The bigger question to me is if we can maintain a solid offensive consistency with a new signal caller at the helm.  If we can, I think we can walk away with the win.

Please take a seat.

Look Carl, you are already an icon here in Lincoln. You have turned us into a contender and your work ethic is a big reason behind you being a captain here.

But we need to talk about your gung ho approach to your health...

I want you to be a legacy player here. I want your shirt hung up in the arena and I want you to be a part of this franchise for as long as I am and beyond. I want mothers calling their first borns Carl from when their kids were conceived to an Impact Bowl winning throw that you make for us.

The only way that happens though is if you look after your body. I don't mean the healthy living and gym work. I mean making sure that in the event that you get injured, you don't push on and soldier through it and jeopardise your longterm future.

The coaches have been telling me that you wanted to play this week while the docs say that you need 4-6 weeks out. I want you to take that time out. If that costs us a win here or there then so be it. We have other talented Quarterbacks who will have to pick up their game to carry on your hard work.

If it costs us a win or 2 then so be it. You are a fundamental part of this franchise and I want you to remain like that. If we have to delay our glory and our moment in the sun then so be it, but I will not... and can not in good faith, risk your livelihood in the long run.

Are we on the same page?

It's not about taking the loss, it's about making sure that you are healthy and happy.

If you want, have a chat with the other QBs and promote your technique to give them a helping hand. Leader like if you will

That's what I want to hear! Your input could have tremendous benefits for us.

Our performances have been deserving of us being elite but luck hasn't been with us. You couldn't let this team down if you tried. Just keep doing what you do best and we'll be golden. If doc tells me that you are recovering well, I'll consider a few minutes in a couple of weeks but no promises.

Now go and help the boys out with their game.

Is there anything else?

S10 WEEK 12 / 13

1. Talk us through your Week 12 Game, What did you like, what didn't you like?
I liked grabbing another home win when we knew how important it was to do so. I love the impact that Carl Bloom despite not playing. I note that yet again, when it's negative surrounding that lad, you are quick to spew out a negative news story about him and others but a positive story and a positive impact on the team sees tumbleweed go through here doesn't it?

2. What did you think of the All-Star skills challenges?
It was an entertaining set of events but I was more focussed on making sure that we are prepared going forward at such a crucial time of the season.

3. What did you think of the All-Star Game itself?
Again, it was entertaining but I'm just glad that the guys who did feature remained fit and healthy going forward into games that really matter.

4. With the Minor League Call Up Window here once again, do you plan on calling up any players?
That is something that I will discuss with the coaches but adding a new player in who hasn't played at this level could be risky especially when you will have expectations for them to play at a certain level.

5. Talk about your game this upcoming week, and how do you feel about the final five games of the regular season?
Portland come to town and the pressure with injuries will play on my mind as well as the need to make sure we keep pushing on for a place in the playoffs.

Well, outside of the win, the docs are saying best case we could get Carl back on the field in two weeks. That would be huge.

That's bloody brilliant! I still don't want him to rush back though if it would set him back.

We seemed to cope though. 237 yards for Morris. 0 Interceptions. 2 touchdowns. Did Carl help him out beforehand?

Anything else of note from the game to take forwards?

Portland has ranked lower and lower in the stats as the year progresses, Crawford to Gordon is a good connection, but outside of that, they have little to scare me from a gameplan standpoint.  Their defense is vulnerable to our attacks, so the only real concern I have is missing Carl at QB.

S10 WEEK 14

1. Talk us through your Week 12 Game, What did you like, what didn't you like?
I liked that first half... I love the result... I wasn't a fan of the ballsy comeback but I'm glad we held on...

2. Talk about anything interesting you around the league...
I love listening to Ace Profits warble on to try and garner attention for himself. If he wants to try and move attention away from his own franchise and drive fans away, he's going the right way about it.

3. Talk about your game this upcoming week, what do you need to do to win?

Crunch game at Seattle. I hate the term "must win" but if we want to be a contender for the impact bowl, then we have to do just that...

I think a big factor is not having Bloom under center to sustain drives late in the game and keep their offense off of the field.
