Fan support is still strong, but we do have some parents complaining about our "Double Penetration" promotions... while they have been a hit locally, the spread of them on social media has got some more family-friendly groups jumping off of the bandwagon.

Demi, thanks again for all your hard work this off-season. Could you get me Coach Saint please?
---
Coach Saint, I'm excited for this season for a number of reasons and that was only magnified by the reports from your staff coming out of camp. I want to attack the pre-season as if it's regular season to make sure we're going as fast as possible when that comes. The only other piece of real business is Ponder and Saunders. I'll be having a word with both guys but from my perspective there's more than enough balls to go around this season within your system. Anything I'm missing from your end?

As much as I see us throwing the ball, I think everyone will get plenty of touches, if they make the catches.

I did my best this off-season to add weapons with a history of hanging on to the ball so I don't expect that to be an issue. Up to them to make the most of their opportunities and I intend to stress that. Anything else? Your notes from camp lead me to believe not but want to make sure we're sorted heading into pre-season.

No other concerns or issues from me right now, I've already seen some folks doubting Stephen Shelley, but I'm liking the way he's taken to my system so far, hopefully that translates to some doubt-silencing play.

I have no doubts about Stephen. Everything I've seen and heard has been positive about him. I trust you'll get the best out of him.

Thanks for your time coach.
---
Demi, can I see Ponder and Saunders please?
---
Guys, just wanted to have a quick chat. Coach McPhee made mention that things started getting heated about who's going to get the #3 spot versus #4 on the depth chart. I'm not going to attempt to quell that competitive fire, I like that both of you want to fight for that spot but I want to make sure it doesn't cross the line at some point. We're going to need both of you this season and that's not some rah-rah bullshit, next man up shit. There's going to be plenty of balls to go around and Coach Saint's tenure proves that. Two years ago they had five players with over 45 catches and the only one under 50 had over 800 yards. Last season, same thing. There's going to be enough balls to go around.

Does that make sense?

That makes sense, and if that's how it plays out, I'm cool.. so like you're saying in the Shotgun looks one of us is on the field and in the Spread looks the other is on the field, because I know we got this new tight end too, so its not like we're going 4-WR in all our looks..

...Coach Saint has a great rep for that, you're right.. If I'm getting my looks, I'll be chill, but man if its mid-season and I ain't gettin' any looks my way, I'm gonna be voicin' my concerns dog.

I hear you. I've been in that boat before and that's always the last part to come. I'm not a psychologist, don't profess to be one, but if you're comfortable sharing where does the concern primarily stem from? Is it the doldrums of recovery, not being able to play with the team? Just trying to understand the root to see if there might be something we could do to help if you're open to it.

I think it's just from seeing guys like Sullivan get hurt over and over... Sullivan, Crawford.. some great QB's gunned down at times by injuries and I don't want that to be me.

Coach keeps saying I just need to take that fist hit and I'll be fine, and I get that, it's just until that time comes, I'll be wondering if that first hit also puts me back on the shelf... but I spent so much time in the film room this year, I am really looking forward to getting out there and playing.

It's too bad Coach Saint uses such different terminology than coach Evans, made some of my film time moot, but its' all good, in the long run it can't hurt, right?

I've played against Barkley 3 times over the last three seasons and he's gotten 3 picks off of my teams in that span... I know what he's capable of, love this move to go get him.

I've been after him for a while. It was a no brainer. I'm going to talk with Coach Graham to see what we can cook up to use every body on defense and then we'll be ready to go.

Thanks Coach.

Coach Graham please Demi,

Coach - Merry Christmas. Or at least it feels like that getting Barkley. I'm thinking Mojica bumps to the slot and Edelman back up top in the 3-3-5 but do we look at adjusting at all our ratios to have more 3-3-5 ... that 4 man rotation on the front would be nasty ...

1. Talk about your off-season, what did you like, what did you not like?
I think we did an excellent job this off-season. Our players put in a lot of work and really you could see a bunch of improvement between last season and into training camp. I think thatís a credit to the individuals we have that even someone like Gordon Goulet who is a perennial all-pro was still doing work to get better.

2. How much stock do you put into your teams preseason performance?
I think that weíre still coming together a bit under Coach Saintís systems but we did a good job protecting the QB, moving the ball when we needed, and then our defense was stellar as always. I like our team.

3. What did you gather from your preseason games?
Weíve got good pieces. We added to our defense and really did a number of offense. Itís really nice to say Harry Ham with the ball in his hands at the start of every play again.

4. What is something you'd like to see your team improve over what they did in the preseason?
Iíd love to see us score more points but we played two great defenses and were still getting into a rhythm. Itíll come.

5. Who was your MVP of the preseason?
Gordon Goulet and Shaq Carrier Ė youíre splitting hairs picking between the two of them.

6. What is your season objective this year, and where do your see yourself finishing the season?
I think itís pretty evident this is a playoff team Ö

Not that pre-season is a true measuring stick, but I expect a VERY dominant performance in week one against Long Beach.

We've shit the bed before in week one so I am hoping you are correct. I don't think we'll look past them with the veteran leadership we have - especially with the schedule we've got this year it's important to take care of business this week.

I'm slightly worried about Shelley's head a bit - he was concerned about taking a hit and getting hurt and it came to fruition. Going to need to do something I think to get that confidence back.

I think this game against Long Beach is the confidence builder he needs, but I know what you mean.  He needs to be comfortable in the pocket as well, and with some new pieces all around the team is still gelling.  Don't worry about over looking anyone, I don't let my guys do that, I know Homer was bad for that, one of the things I heard through the grape vine, his preparation was poor.

Sounds good. I really liked the looks of our line through pre-season. Did a good job of keeping him clean.

Only other thing I had to ask about was the kicking. I don't have much cap room but if Day's got a case of the yips I don't want it costing us. He was a decent enough kicker last year - what's your evaluation on him? Can we do better on the market?

We could most definitely do better on the market, plenty of talent out there, hell... the kicker from St. Paul last year might not be a Sasser-type who can nail it from 60+ but he's accurate and is a career 92.4% kicker, missed two all of last year, 3 the year before and one his rookie year, and like everyone he had some missed XP's, but he's 94.2% from there too.

Demi, I've checked the league rules on the minor league but am seeking clarification. We can send down a player to the minors at anytime - it is only call ups that are restricted currently. If I can send players down, please get me Bobby Shapiro on the line about getting Dale Miller in to kick some footballs for us.

Bobby, I think you can help me out. I'm looking at Dale Miller to kick for us this year. I've got no salary cap room at present so I'll need to make some roster moves but I'm hoping 250K can do the trick and once I make room for him I'll send you the contract to officially sign.

Only condition is that if Dale here can end the season with 94+% accuracy in both XP and Field Goals then you'll sign us on to a 3 year 2MM deal next year.

I believe that's fair Bobby - but can I do you one better and make it Dale's option if he meets that threshold? Give him a chance to test FA if he has an awesome season or elect in. Gives him some flexibility.

1. Talk us through this week's game. What did you like, what do you want to see improved?
We did a lot of things really well. We made plays in all facets of the game and played a full sixty minutes. Thereís been times in the past a game like this mightíve slipped away from us. Improvements I think will come on offense as we get further into the season and we really are running at full bore under our new schemes.

2. What did you make of your teams performance, despite the final outcome of the game?
Very impressed. We moved the ball extremely well and were lights out on defense. A good night in the kicking game to boot.

3. Are there any major changes you see yourself making this week?
No.

4. Talk about at least two news stories from this week.
I think I noticed Christopher Allenís comments and that stands out to me. Heís already a great player and added motivation on a divisional rival is always something to take care of. The other one was the fireworks involving Coach Munoz and Coach Rudino. Itís good to not find our team in the middle of that considering it has historically been us.

5. Talk to us about your match up this week.  Where do you see your opponent having an advantage? What is the key to victory?
I think a lot of our guys are going to remember Week 16 last year and be looking for a bit of retribution. We know San Antonio very well, adding Jarvis Botts was huge for them and theyíve got great linebackers. If we play our game though weíre in for a good one.

My philosophy has always been to trust our players to make appropriate decisions given their stature in the public eye. Given this trust I tend not to get involved in matters outside of football that do not impact our team.

Well, it wasn't the blow out I wanted to see, but defensively we stopped them when it mattered, and we limited our penalties.  Shelley's got some work to do to improve on those interceptions, what made me mad about them was they came on back to back drives, luckily for us, we held them to a FG on the two drives and then got the Ponder TD to follow them up... but I'll be working on ball security, because we need to limit turnovers, or we risk losing games we should win.

It was good to see him take some hits and get back up. I agree though on the turnovers. I trust your ability with Quarterbacks to help fix this and I think it is given it was Holdebrand making the interceptions from the linebacker position. Corbett had a good game too which was great to see.

I really like our roster, so I am confident we're going to gel quickly.

Perfect. That's what I wanted to hear. Speaking of cohesion - this Nutt and Kardashian deal I'm hearing about. What's the story between him and Corbett? They bro's off the field? They hate each other? I can think of some bad things here - can also think of some good things. I am not concerned now but don't want to completely sweep this under the rug.

It surprised the hell out of me, I don't go following my player's social lives religiously, but last I saw, Corbett was still dating that Kardashian.

Aye. Any notable interactions previously with Nutt and Corbett?

No, not really.  Nutt has spent most of his time with the other D-Linemen.

Hmm - ok. I'll need to think how to handle this. Going up against San Antonio only thing I have is maybe switching our primary away from Pitts to Ponder or Saunders in the slot and exploiting their corner depth. Pitts and Mackey get balls regardless but maybe switching a few looks?

Yeah, if we want to try to avoid Botts, we'll want to shift focus to Ponder or Saunders, but they ran a lot of zone last week, he still may be a factor.

Any idea on the ratio after the QC guys reviewed the footage? If it's 80% Man maybe we switch but if it's 50/50 I don't think it warrants changing the reads.

It wasn't 50/50, but closer to balanced than leaning heavily on the zone.

Then let's leave it as is. Anything else you need?
