Yep - I'm excited for this and for the guys. What are you thinking for defense - I know they like to spread it out and go 3 wide so I'd normally say we go to our Nickle but I'm wondering if we try and make them one dimensional and beat us through the air and keep Gordon in the box? How bad of shape are we in if Dickey, Stands or Brown get matched up on Hernandez or Shaq?

my only concern is They deploy Brown out of the slot about 50% of the time.. Browns speed is elite, so I'm hesitant to say we stack the box for the majority of the game.

Ok - if that's the case and with that offense I don't think we can try and go formation against down and distance. Martin might have a big game but I think that's the risk we run. The only other thing I'm going to do is put Ponder in the slot against J-Rich and we'll target the hell out of him. I'm going to putting Zeller in the #1 WR slot in our shot gun so that our slot attack is normally how it is and have it be a different look for Lightner. He's looked good and I've not heard of drops with him but want to double check on that as well.

So far he hasn't dropped one and he's caught 12 in the playoffs, I think Zell is up for the role.

Then letís do it.
---
2 down Ė 2 to go. I could give some long drawn out speech but this team knows whatís up; knowís whatís at stake. No oneís ready to go home yet. So Iím going to try to meet the minimum standards by telling you to play hard, play for each other and then quote someone famous so here we go; a wise man once said that ďTo be the man, youíve got to beat the man!Ē Well Ė weíve got the reigning champs coming so letís do it.

Give me two claps and a Ric Flair

*CLAP, CLAP*

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

---
Zeller to WR1
Ponder to WR3
Saunders to WR4

Primary Receiver: Ponder
Defensive Strategy: 4-2-5 Nickle in all situations except 3rd and 4th and short.

1. Talk about your exit from the playoffs, what does it mean for you and your team going forward?
It means weíve got to get better. We got out-played. Plain and simple. We started off strong with some big plays and had the momentum and then the flood-gates opened and we drowned. It happens. Itís football. Itís just disappointing it happened at this time of year.

2. What is next for this franchise?
I think weíre going to drink a beer or ten probably. The first nine are going to be in sorrow Ďcause this one hurts. We had a special team and as good a shot as any and we didnít capitalize. That tenth one though is probably going to be celebratory. You canít let one game dictate the entirety of your assessment of a team and a season. We did a lot of good things that Iím proud of this year.

3. What lead to your down fall in this game?  How do you recover from it?
I think it was quick-sand really; it was just one thing after another that we were fighting against and nothing worked and the more we fought the quicker we sunk in. Weíll use it as motivation going forward.

4. Do you expect to make major changes in the off-season, what major changes could we see?
Iíve been so focused on this season that Iíve really not looked at what the off-season means for our team. I know weíve got to sign Shane Barkley and I imagine my reputation for making moves means Iíll be getting phone calls from 23 other GMís about making a deal.

The one thing I can guarantee youíre not going to see is a new quarterback under center for this franchise. I know thereís talk about the potential free agent quarterback class this off-season but Steph Shelley is our quarterback going forward, no ifís, andís or butís.

5. When you look back at this moment in 10, 20 years... what will you remember most?
I think Iíd be able to better answer that one in a month or so once weíve fully processed this.

Definitely not the result we were looking for. It all kind of came crashing down. Time to move on though and move forward. I'm not going to be surprised if Kenny Graham gets a head coaching job so we might need to look at doing something there. Else-wise though I'm thinking we might shuffle some cards where we've got depth and can re-allocate some money but otherwise I like the makeup we've got here.

Sounds good - there's one thing I did want to ask you there. How much are you willing to put up with in the locker room? I know this year you did an outstanding job given the Kardashian saga but you also mentioned not being sure on Hodge in Vegas. There's a mercenary who had a pretty good year this year who I've normally ignored but if we have the cap room I'm tempted to bring him in. Would you be ok with that? Or a similar sort of player?

I don't want guys who are going to get in trouble with drugs and alcohol on the strip... If they are just attitudes and personalities, I'm not too worried, I've had to deal with plenty of them over my time.

I just don't want guys we could lose to legal trouble, basically.

I'll keep this short and sweet because that loss left a nasty taste in all of our mouths.

You did a great job this season, we hit all our goals outside of winning the division, which in the end, didn't hurt us.

...Your job is safe, I'd like to offer you a two-year guarantee, next season and the year after...  4MM in bonus money each season, and I'll extend and raise that deal if we don't stumble and miss the playoffs next year.

Demi, if I could speak with Steph Shelley that'd be great.
---
Steph, tough one. I know it's going to sting for a while but I wanted to re-iterate what I said in my press-conference that you're going to be the starter here for as long as I'm around. When you looked me in the eye earlier this year with the fire to make that jump, that told me all I needed to know. You took some big steps forward and I know this off-season with how it ended you're going to take another big leap. Enjoy some time off then put in the work for next season.

Cool - I guess I've got a couple follow up questions. One, what's your opinion on the most important trait in a player and secondly in the past couple of years, who do you think has been the top lineman to come out of the draft.

My most important trait?  Probably has to be the Intelligence.  You can be strong and have good technique, but if you're too damn dumb to know where to go, you're just turrible... TURRIBLE..

As for the best lineman to be drafted lately, hmm, I think Matthew Neill in Long Beach is the next great cornerstone at Left Tackle.

Happy to bring Leonard aboard and this should be a fairly easy negotiation. 4 Years, 5MM appears to be the ticket for the slot.

We're happy to bring James on board. He's someone we had our eyes on throughout the year this year and we're hoping we could do a long term deal to keep him in Las Vegas. Does 4 years, 1.5MM work?

Demi - David Ames please.
---
David, calling in regards to Christopher Mackey. He did a good job for us last year and I really value his leadership and big game experience. I want to keep him in the fold here in Vegas but with some of the moves this off-season I've got to consider our cap sheet. I was wondering if we could adjust his contract to 5MM flat, no bonus, to keep him in Vegas though. I'm more than willing to adjust the length of the deal to accommodate this if he accepts and would like to hit free agency sooner but am very happy to also continue with the current length of the deal.

That's definitely not showing me the money... but Chris really wants to win a championship this year..

here is what he wants to do.

He'll restructure to 1 year 5MM flat, but the condition is if you guys don't win the championship his contract re-ups for another year at his current values, bonus included.

What do you say?

Demi, if you could get Drew Leventhal on the line that'd be great.
---
Drew, thanks for taking my call. I know this is a hectic time of year for you with the draft and getting ready for free-agency. I was hoping I could have a few moments to discuss Harry Ham's contract. We made a move to bring him back last year and I know in talking to him that he was happy to be back here, playing center, and that chasing the money wasn't all it's cracked up to be. I was hoping we could make a deal to make sure he gets to stay here. I'd like to propose a fully guaranteed 4 year, 4MM deal that starts immediately. I know it's a pay cut this year but I am hoping that the long term security that the deal offers is enough to make it worth his while.

I completely understand Drew. I'll shelve this for later once I get an idea of how our salary structure looks going forward. Thanks for your time.

James T. Crain please Demi.

James, calling about Danny Edelman. With the new rules around guaranteed deals and what he means to this team and how much he values loyalty, I was wondering if we could potentially re-work his deal to lock him in here for the long term in Las Vegas even more so than currently. I'd like to propose a 5 year, 5MM fully guaranteed deal with immediate effect.

With 500K signing bonus, you'll have a deal.

Drew Leventhal please Demi.

Drew, calling about Roger Freedman. I don't have a ton of funds to spend so hoping he could come to Vegas and tote the rock for us in our committee on a 1 year, minimum salary deal.

Calling about Wilford Beckwith - would like to have him developing in Carson. Can we do a 3 year, 250K deal?

Let's just call it 500K then and we'll do some good business later - yeah?
