STEVE ROSENHAUS LAUGHS AT YOU FOR A VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY LONG TIME.

Why in the WORLD would Jose want to give you a second chance?  You just said you're shipped out a guy who has been loyal to this franchise and has performed well. You do realize that Jose was happy in Pearl Harbor, he and I both blame you for him no longer being a Predator.

...I can quote him for you if you'd like, but it's not pretty.

I'd like to hear it.

But first - he should trust me because of the contract I gave him in Pearl Harbor. I made sure he'd have security there for as long as he wanted. He should trust me because after week 3 when people were calling for him to be benched I said I wasn't concerned about Jose. He should trust me, sir, because if I fuck this job up I'm not getting another one and I plan to be gainfully employed for the foreseeable future. He should trust me because despite the fact you just laughed in my face for a FOR A VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY LONG TIME, I'm still fighting to make him a part of this team.

He had said, and I quote...

"Man, fuck that guy.  I was happy in Pearl Harbor, I agreed to a deal with Pearl Harbor, and then he fucked up Pearl Harbor.  Everything that happened after he bailed is his fault in my eyes, and man... yeah, fuck that guy."

After he said that, he polished his APL championship ring and his Playoff MVP award and went on about how he might actually just stay in Sacramento if an expansion team doesn't make him happy to return to the HIFL.

I respect you recognizing a real player like Jose, but he is not interested in you or Las Vegas.

Alright - let's try this then. 1 Year, 15.5MM. He gives me one season to prove to him that I'm not going to fuck up again. In doing so he gets compensated as the highest paid player in the HIFL for this season. We add an option year that Jose can void after HIFL Season 6 if he signs with an APL team for 10MM.

So he's only worth the top dollar while you try to save face?  If you're offering 15.5, we'd want both years at that price, and its a straight up player option, if we want out after this season we can opt out and do whatever we please.

We're only signing this deal with full power. We need amnesty and trade clauses in full.

Andy, GM Metro of the Scorpions here. After our discussions earlier I'd like to offer you the position of offensive co-ordinator here in Las Vegas. I'm thinking 3MM for 3 years.

GM Metro, Jennifer from the league's financial department, I just received the contract you sent through earlier and it appears you have violated the league's $125MM salary cap by $15.5MM as well as the league's roster limit with the addition of Jose Pruitt.  As a result of the violation the same punishment given to Orlando and Tombstone earlier this year has been imposed on your team.  You will face a 5 million dollar cap reduction for the remained of this season and for season 6 as well.  We will also be fining the team's owner Mr. Sting 750K, but we will inform him of that on our own.  Please avoid these mistakes in the future.

You may inform the league office of your roster moves to get the team below your new 120MM salary cap as soon as you decide what you will do, please remember that you may use your amnesty clause early to comply with the league's roster and salary figures at this time.  Thank you and good evening.

I'd like to contest this on the basis that your office did not note the paperwork as received until 10:43:18 as per the league official internal league website - while it was notated that the deal was effective season 6 as at 10:43:10.

GM Metro, you should be happy the league is not pressing the issue with a larger fine due to your roster space violation, which could be penalized separately, if you would like to continue to press the issue..

There's no roster space violation if the deal is effective season 6 Ma'am. Hence my seeking clarification on the matter. There was a league memo sent that once the regular season ends all non-playoff teams begin their off-season. I've copied it below for your reference.

As soon as the regular season ends non-playoff teams begin their offseason.

With all due respect ma'am, it's impossible for a contract to begin for a season that has already ended.

The league sent out a memo stating all teams that were not expansion teams must reference the season in which any deal is made.  Just because your offseason activities have began does not mean that season 5 has ended.  Season 6 free agency has not began, season 6 drafts have not began, season 5 protections have not been finalized, therefor your deal went into effect, Mr. Pruitt has been paid, and you are on the hook for clearing the salary violation and complying with the salary cap penalty.

Ma'am, to clarify then, given that Mr. Freese has announced his resignation his 7MM would be off the books, effective immediately, correct? Leaving the Las Vegas franchise with 9MM in total PR remaining for S5? The same would hold true should Mr. Barbour or Mr. Hollingsworth accept coaching deals with another franchise.

Mr. Freese's resignation is effective immediately, your coaches accepting contracts for next season with expansion teams goes into effect next season, as expansion teams have already been established as season 6 and forward contracts.

Upon further review, your contract with Mr. Pruitt has been voided by the league.  The contract clearly states the deal is between Pearl Harbor and Jose Pruitt, and you are not authorized to speak for the Pearl Harbor Predators anymore.

Good day.

-----------------------

Just a heads up, we're not signing a new contract, we tried it failed, and we are seeing this as a bad omen.

See ya later baby.

...and now we've been fined by the league for tampering, taking $2MM from our PR budget this off season.  Great... just great.

We'll factor the penalty into the information we provide you after the Impact Bowl.

I advise you to LOCK IN TO CLOSE SEASON 5 before you get into any more trouble.

With all due respect sir, when I took this job one of the main reasons was your words. "We don't believe in conforming to the status quo, we want to turn heads and grab headlines." I made a ballsy move and it backfired - but now, from the sounds, you are asking me to toe the line and play it safe? I didn't accept that job sir.

I have already seen the league be wrong in my time and in fighting it, saved this franchise money. Now, in regards to the league fine - I would expect the league to find proof that actions were deliberate or intentional which is necessary to find someone guilty of tampering. Given my conversations with Mr. Rosenhaus wherein I specifically said "I'd like Jose to lead the team here in Las Vegas" and the leagues initial insistence that we had violated the roster limit in Las Vegas, I find it very hard to believe they would have unassailable proof that we tampered with Pearl Harbor and so should push back because this fine is baseless.

your conversation with the wall seems productive the wallpaper appears to agree with you, unfortunately the fine has been paid and you are left feeling annoyed. Luckily for you, Knott Sting is not around to had you claim to have won your battle with the league, as he would likely have reminded you the only reason the case was dropped was due to the use of the wrong team on the contract.

GM Metro, we have 5 players we are currently allowed to extend contract offers to... Joseph Whaley (TE), Jonathan Johnson (WR), Brian Yee (DE), Justin Quintana (DE), and Arthur Cuevas (LB).

If you have already offered them contracts, we will momentarily get a status update from their agents...

Our unprotected players are still our responsibility until they are drafted, unless they are already free agents, so our current projected cap space is 16.5MM with 20.25MM in PR.

We have our remaining PR from season 5 which must be used before the amateur draft, when sending paperwork to the league office, PLEASE BE SURE TO SPECIFY WHEN SPENDING S5 PR.

Also remember Foster Fletcher's 2 year, 3MM and .75PR contract will raise to 7MM salary with the same PR if he is able to start 10 games for us this season.

Enjoy the off-season.

GM Metro, your offer to allow JJ to stay with you since he lost his house was touching, truly it was, but the salary isn't really where we were hoping to land right now.  JJ tells me he's looking for 7-9.5MM, so he's willing to let the market establish itself before he signs.

---

Metro baby, Cuevas is definitely here to stay with that deal... send it to the league office.

---

Quintana likes your offer, we're just gonna sleep on it for a little bit.

---

Yee likes your offer, we're just gonna sleep on it for a little bit.

---

How you doin Metro?  Whaley respects your offer, but is hoping for more, we're gonna continue to think on this right now, kapeesh?

GM METRO THANKS EACH AGENT FOR THEIR CALL
---
Penelope, in reviewing our records I noted that the contracts for Chad Scott, John Freeman and Michael Esposito were set to expire this off-season but in the filing Mr. Sting provided to the league office, and your memo earlier they were not indicated. Can you please clarify this? If they are indeed eligible for free agency, I've taken the liberty to draft offers for their agents which I've attached below.

Quote
To: Mr Eli Harris

RE: Chad Scott

Mr. Harris, I would like to offer an extension of Mr. Scottís contract for 3.5MM for 3 years to help continue to anchor our offensive line. I believe his experience will be of benefit to the Scorpions franchise going forward.

Regards,
GM Metro

Quote
To: Ms. Amber Molina

RE: Michael Esposito

Ms. Molina, I would like to offer Mr. Esposito an opportunity to continue to develop here in Las Vegas on a 2MM, 2 year contract. David Ellis will remain the starter, however I feel that Michael adds depth to our line and in the event of injury is more than capable of filling in. I also understand should you and your client wish to test free agency in search of more guaranteed playing time.

I look forward to hearing from you in respect of this matter.

Regards,
GM Metro

Quote
To: Mr. Mike Maker

RE: John Freeman

Mr. Maker, I would like to offer an extension of Mr. Freemanís contract for 1 year at 2.5MM with a player option for the second season at the same rate. Mr. Freeman did not have a great season statistically last year, however I respect that the 3-4 defense previously utilized in Las Vegas may not have suited his skill set. It is my hope that this offer provides him a measure of financial security while also providing him the flexibility to hit free agency next season if his market value rises.

Regards,
GM Metro

Once we hear back on these, I'd like to speak once again to Mr. Mike Maker in regards to Jonathan Johnson if he will take my call.

Thanks.

Kind of a weird ask given the nature of unrestricted free agency but I was hoping that given you wanting to let the market set itself for JJ that we could get the ability to match or better an offer should he receive one from another franchise in free agency.

I can't say for sure right now, but you're approach to JJ's situation has earned his respect and mine.  So, we will keep Vegas in mind even if we get a big offer from another franchise, I can't promise you he will not jump quickly, but I will talk to him and try to get him to take a second thought before going all in... fair?

Just a heads up, JJ has a pretty hot offer on the table, he's very interested.

Thanks Mike. I'm going to take some time to evaluate but I'd like to keep JJ here. I'll be in touch with you shortly.

Penelope, can I speak to Coach Evans please.
---
Coach, I hope you're enjoying your break. I wanted to talk to you about amateur scouting however. I've got a few names of my list that I've sent you that I personally want to look at but I know in our previous discussions you had mentioned that your connections in the college game could allow you to send your co-ordinators to the right schools for scouting. I'd like to add five more players to the list on that first pass so wanted to get your opinion.

I really think its worth looking at the WRs like DGB, The Pitts Brothers, and even guys like Holiday and Brown.

Thanks Coach. I'll add them to the list. I've got a few things I want to mull over but I'm sure we'll speak soon.

Mike Maker please.
---
Mike, I'm still mulling the JJ offer but we remain interested in him and this might pike his interest in Las Vegas as well. I've had some interesting discussions with other GM's so wanted to discuss Michael May with you. I'd like to state that this is not a formal offer of terms - but should I reach an agreeable deal with GM Kirk in New Jersey what sort of contract would work? I was thinking 13MM in salary and 2MM in PR for the next four years?

We would agree to 14MM and 1.5MM in PR for 4 years.

I don't mind those numbers. I'll work with GM Kirk. I appreciate your time and I really hope we can work together to bring Michael to Las Vegas.

Likewise, I think Michael would enjoy the bright lights of the Strip.

It's a done deal. I guess while I have you here I can let you know we've moved John Freeman in the deal but Michael May is now a Scorpion.

Las Vegas signs Michael May for 14MM and 1.5MM PR for 4 years? I can send that to the league office.

Thanks Mike.

With Michael in the fold - I'd like to keep JJ to give him a weapon on the outside. We've got the franchise tag to keep JJ here but I think that'd be an affront to everyone giving our prior conversations. When we spoke initially you said he was looking for somewhere between 7-9.5. Kidwell and Rutherford both got 7.5 ... if we bump our offer up to 8 with all other terms in place can we get a signature?

it's not a bad offer, but we still have a good looking deal on the table, and we have other teams that might be getting involved.  I think it will be a few days before we decide.

Anthony Campanelli please.

Anthony, I'd like to revise the terms of my offer to Joseph Whaley to 6MM if we can get a signature right now - otherwise we'll stick with the terms we sent you previously. Does this work for you?
