BREAKING NEWS:  HIFL OWNERS STUNNED BY LOOPHOLE IN NO-COMPETE CLAUSE IS EXPLOITED BY XFLPA, MAKING MARIOTA TO NEW YORK A VERY LIKELY MOVE!

KANSAS CITY ---  After an off-season focused on retaining talent and insulating the HIFL from XFL poaching, things have gotten interesting.  In the weeks since the surprise signings of XFL players Eddie Pope and Christopher Chandler by Kansas City and Rapid City respectively the XFL and the XFLPA began to explore ways to retaliate against the flagship football league, and it now appears they have found the way to do just that.

A source inside the HIFL's legal team has confirmed that the language in the no-compete clause ratified by the HIFLPA during the HIFL Summit has left a loophole that players desiring to accept deals in the XFL can exploit.

"We made a mistake, no way around it." the source tells ESPN. "We stated that any player not signed to the HIFLPA exclusively would not be able to breech their contract with a HIFL club, but we did not specify that the players could not sign with the XFLPA separately, at any given time, and put themselves in a position to walk away from a HIFL contract so long as they did not seek any continued compensation from that club. ...We really dropped the ball on this one."

While the league is working hard to make another agreement with the HIFLPA to close this loophole, the HIFLPA clearly has the leverage and could likely demand another compromise or concession from the GM's and Owners, but in the meantime, it is confirmed that Marcus Mariota has indeed signed with the XFLPA as well as the HIFLPA, and is now one step closer to signing with the New York Champions.

HOLDOUT: LYNX DOMINANT DT SU'A FETU SAYS HE WILL NOT PLAY WITHOUT A NEW CONTRACT!

ST. PAUL -- With training camp in the books and players ready to take the field for the two most meaningless games of their season, one player has been advised by his agent Bobby Shapiro to sit out any and all games unless he is rewarded with a new more lucrative contract.

Fetu, a 4-star defensive tackle out of the ADIDAS Football Academy, is on one of the most one-sided contracts in the league.  Only making $750K per season, he is the only non-special teams (or fullback) in the league to rank as one of his teams top 10 players, while making under $1MM per season, a figure that Agent Bobby Shapiro says "Must Increase" if GM Eli wants to have the 325lbs run stuffer on the field for his defense in 2021 and beyond.

"Su'a makes the linebackers life easier. He doesn't have the sexy numbers of an interior pass-rusher, but he is a force multiplier on the grid iron and deserves to be paid for his talent and not like some bargain bin player imported from a team-financed training academy.  He is only making these soup kitchen wages because of the fact he didn't play at a university, and that is wrong." Shapiro said at a small press conference outside of the Lynx indoor training facility in Minneapolis.

St. Paul has cap space to make a deal, but some wonder if GM Eli values the type of DT Fetu represents, or if he would prefer to replace Fetu with a pass-rushing DT which has been a staple of the new GM's former teams, due to Cleveland Head Coach Jason Blitzer's pass rush philosophy.

CHARLOTTE CROWNS ILLEGAL ROSTER AND LACK OF EFFORT TO FIX ISSUE DURING PRE-SEASON LEADS TO FINANCIAL SANCTIONS AGAINST CHARLOTTE OWNER!

CHARLOTTE --- Charlotte Crowns owner Lena "The Queen" Cersei has been fined heavily by the HIFL League Office due to the team neglecting to comply with the league's roster requirements despite a penalty after training camp.  The penalty, while not affecting the team's salary cap figure or bonus pool, has cost the team its larger than life mascot "Gregor" The Elephant.

Officials close to the franchise have indicated that The Queen is not pleased with the latest setbacks.

S12 WEEK 2

AFTER UNPRECEDENTED BRAWL LEADS TO GAME STOPPAGE AND A TIE LATE IN OVERTIME, LEAGUE DISHED OUT RECORD NUMBER OF FINES AND SUSPENSIONS!

After what has been widely documented as the most embarrassing and unprofessional on-field moment in HIFL history, and possibly the most disgraceful incident since GM Powers' infamous scandal, the HIFL League office is sending a loud and clear message that on-field brawling will not be tolerated.

After a heated and highly contested contest between two of the most bitter rivals in the HIFL, the Alabama Nighthawks and Atlanta Warriors reached a boiling point with only a minute to play in Overtime of a 31-31 ball game in Mobile, Alabama.  While few flags flew during the game, several hits from Atlanta thumpers Peter Haney and Bruiser Elliott drew the ire of the Alabama bench and coaching staff, several dangerous hits were either made or attempted, primarily against reigning league MVP Jamie Ortega leading Alabama Jon Rudino to demand the referees get involved and protect the players on the field; later in the 4th quarter linebacker James Brown was ejected for a late hit on Ortega, which only fueled accusations of targeting.  Haney, who was handed the biggest suspension of the day, was seen on camera throwing punches at players and then striking an official who was pulling him off of the pile, a punch that could cost him his entire season.

The fight, which will not be discussed in detail here, resulted in the following punishments.

ALABAMA:

Suspensions:
QB - Dak Prescott - 2 Games
TE - Stephen Green - 1 Game
WR - Oliver Giles - 4 Games
OT - Noah Rose - 10 Games
DT - Philip Sanderson - 4 Games
CB - Sticky Pitts - 1 Game
HC - Jon Rudino - 2 Games

Fines:
Team fined $1MM
Each Suspended player fined $50K per game suspended (plus game check)

ATLANTA:

Suspensions:
S - Peter Haney - 14 Games
DT - Bruiser Elliott - 4 Games
OT - Manuel Linkous - 1 Game
WR - Jose Zambrano - 4 Games
DE - James Fellows - 4 Games
CB - Timothy Brown - 1 Game
HC - Henry Munoz Jr - 2 Games

Fines:
Team fined $1.5MM
Each Suspended player fined $50K per game suspended (plus game check)

The Officiating Crew for the game, including head referee Vincent Kantsee have been suspended for 6 weeks and will be on probation with the league following their reinstatement.

In other news, The XFL has capitalized on the latest black eye for the HIFL, using the bad PR to gain new viewers and attract the family crowd.

S12 WEEK 3

TURNED AND BURNED?  BARONS ORGANIZATION AND FAN BASE IRATE AS ST. PAUL POKES FUN AFTER TOP GUN NIGHT UPSET!

After a difficult week in the High Impact Football League that saw chaos break loose in a tense rivalry game between the Atlanta Warriors and Alabama Nighthawks, it would be easy to overlook another shocking, although supremely less controversial, outcome that occurred. The St. Paul Lynx headed into the Flight Deck on Top Gun Night a massive underdog and with all of the odds stacked against them. Most football fans had probably changed the channel to another game, or perhaps another program, by the time the Lynx found themselves down 17-0. But what happened afterward is the sort of thing that can spark a maligned team to go on an unexpected run.

If you’re unsure what it is exactly that I’m talking about, all you would need to do is look around the Milwaukee area today to find a number of Billboards in St. Paul Lynx blue reminding the Barons fans of what the final score was on Top Gun Night, and just how exactly their team was turned and burned by the underdog Lynx (27-24 in favor of the Lynx was the final for those who are out of the loop). However, those Billboards seem to be only the beginning of a public relations campaign rolled out by new Lynx GM Eli Weber.

Spotted on the campus of the Milwaukee Barons facility were numerous individuals dressed as the Lynx mascot delivering flight lessons to the Barons players and coaching staff. It is even said that owner Carmine Barone was presented one as he was held up by security as he arrived at the Barons facilities this morning. When asked for a comment, one of the individuals commented that “GM Weber felt like the Barons might need flying lessons after crashing and burning at the flight deck in such spectacular fashion.”

Think that’s rubbing in the victory a little too much? Well, it doesn’t end there. Lynx QB Aaron Kitchen as scene wearing a “Top Gun” bomber jacket emblazoned with his last name on it. Rumor has it fans of the St. Paul Lynx will be able to purchase replica bomber jackets for themselves at the Lynx Team Store to celebrate with the organization after gaining their first Top Gun Night victory at the expense of the Milwaukee faithful.

If you ask me, this is what rivalries should really be about and you can bet GM Strike and the Barons will be looking for revenge later this season when they pay the Lynx a visit.

BREAKING NEWS: ALABAMA WINS APPEALS ON SEVERAL PLAYER SUSPENSIONS, COACH RUDINO REMAINS BANNED FOR 2 WEEKS!

NEW YORK -- After hiring a highly acclaimed legal team to help with damage control in both the league and PR aspects of the organization stemming from the massive brawl last weekend in Mobile, Alabama; the Alabama Nighthawks were informed this afternoon by the HIFL League Office that their appeals had all been heard and ruled on.

While the league did not back off of its suspension of head coach Jon Rudino, nor did it endorse a reduction in punishment for GM Pancho, the league did retract or reduce the suspensions on nearly every player involved.  Here is a breakdown of the appeals hearing:

Noah Rose (10 games) -- reduced to 7 games
Philip Sanderson (4 games) -- reduced to 3 games
Oliver Giles (4 games) -- reduced to 2 games
Dak Prescott (2 games) -- upheld
Stephen Green (1 game) -- withdrawn
Sticky Pitts (1 game)   -- withdrawn

While bye weeks are not included in suspension time, Alabama has to feel that the hearing went as well as possible all things considered.  Meanwhile the legal team now shifts focus to the public eye for the days to come.

BREAKING NEWS: LEAGUE INVESTIGATION COMES TO AN ABRUPT CLOSE AFTER FS HANEY ADMITS TO LYING TO COMMISSIONER, CLEARS GM LUCAS OF ANY WRONG DOING WHILE ADMITTING TO ACCEPTING MONEY FROM FORMER HEAD COACH MUNOZ AS PART OF SECRET BOUNTY.

ATLANTA -- In what can only be described as a shocking turn of events, the league brought a close to its investigation of the motives behind the recent brawl between Atlanta and Alabama players that at one point resulted in suspended FS Peter Haney accusing GM Xavier Lucas of being guilty of order a hit on reigning league MVP Jamie Ortega.

The accusations from Haney were enough to start a formal investigation from the HIFL League Office and its top-flight investigation team, but those resources were called off after Peter Haney surprisingly stepped forward both on Social Media and to the Commissioner privately to admit that he had lied about GM Lucas' involvement in the entire ordeal, instead saying that GM Lucas had simply said to "make Ortega run and hide." which he admits he interpreted as making the QB uncomfortable..  Haney says that the idea to intentionally injure Ortega did not come up until the day of the teams final practice when head coach Henry Munoz Jr approached him in private and told him "I need you to take out Ortega.  Get him out of the game and I'll make sure you get a big payday"

These accusations have lit the football world on fire, the league quickly reacted, calling for Henry Munoz to come in for a second interview but the recently resigned head Coach has reportedly fled the country and is believed to be in hiding in China.

With Munoz fleeing the United States, the league announced that Munoz would be banned from the HIFL for life and that Haney would serve his full season-long suspension but would be allowed back in the off-season if he met certain guidelines laid out in a closed door session with the Commissioner.

Meanwhile GM Lucas was issued a public apology from Haney, bringing the end to what is surely to be a much talked about saga for a franchise that will look to quickly distance itself from the dark clouds that now reside over the entire organization.

Warriors owner Barbara Baracuda released a short statement simply saying:

"The Atlanta Warriors organization accepts the ruling of the HIFL League office and has elected to uphold the current suspension of GM Lucas which will be for two weeks. Once the suspension has been served he will be free to resume his day-to-day activities as GM but future incidents will not be tolerated."

The Rumor Mill has already began to churn however that GM Kirk and another candidate could be brought into ATL HQ for an interview, further fueling the fire that GM Lucas' job security is getting very thin.

S12 WEEK 4

XFL OWNERS TOUT WILD SUCCESS AS RATINGS CONTINUE TO CLIMB AS LEAGUE CONTEMPLATES SHIFTING FROM SATURDAY GAMES TO SUNDAY TO GO HEAD TO HEAD WITH HIFL

STANFORD --- After yet another high-water mark in ratings for every single XFL game in Week 3, the leagues owners have announced that they are in negotiations with XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck and their network partners to potentially shift XFL Gameday from Saturday evenings to Sunday afternoon and evening in direct competition with the High Impact Football League.

"We have had to step on the toes of our friends at the NCAA, and we believe that moving to Sundays in the near future vs. staying on and stealing ratings from these prestigious and respected universities is the right decision.  This has nothing to do about how well our product has been on the field and how well received we have been, it has nothing to do with our competition's game times, this is strictly to help the NCAA and show that not all football leagues put themselves first when it comes to the treatment of the NCAA and our collegiate athletes."  Luck said in a statement after a closed-door sit down with the 8 XFL team owners.

A move to sundays would clearly further intensify the rivalry between the HIFL and XFL, giving even more exposure to the younger league and further help entice disgruntled or underutilized talents from the HIFL to pursue a career with the XFL.    In the last week QB and former MVP Marcus Mariota signed with the New York Champions and further more controversial safety Peter Haney has signed with the Atlanta Avengers and is set to start this weekend when Atlanta takes on the Los Angeles Xtreme in LA.

The HIFL media team was not available for comment, but one unnamed source spoke off the record indicating that the league was not concerned with the moves, but more concerned about the potential loss of draft prospects and free agents due to the declining reputation of the HIFL's General Managers as a whole.
