 SEASON 11 - PRESEASON

BEHIND THE BACKING OF BILLIONAIRE HOPEFUL OWNER, VANCOUVER WINS BID TO HOST IMPACT BOWL XI!!

VANCOUVER, BC -- Today in a joint press conference with Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart, HIFL Commissioner Talon Wilkinson announced that the 2020 HIFL Championship game, Impact Bowl 11 will be hosted by Vancouver bringing the Impact Bowl to Canada for the first time!

"We're excited to bring the Impact Bowl to our Canadian fans to further expand our league's influence." Commissioner Wilkinson said during the 30 minute Q&A after the announcement was made, adding: "We owe a big thank you to Braxton James of the James Corporation for his support in this endeavor.  He has expressed interest in bringing a HIFL franchise to Vancouver for some time now, but in order to show what a great football city Vancouver can be he has invested a large portion of the funding needed to make this event possible for the city and people of Vancouver."

BC James, a savvy and vocal business man in Western Canada, fell short on his bid to purchase the Long Beach Mermen due to his refusal to sign an agreement with outgoing owner Arthur Curry that would keep the franchise in Southern California but since then he has openly expressed interest in purchasing a current franchise or enticing the league to expand to add another franchise, an idea that Commissioner Wilkinson has shot down repeatedly due to the league's current size being "perfect." as is.

Meanwhile, as some franchises struggle with fan support due to either poor ownership or poor management, James is clearly hoping a team comes up for sale again.

The league also announced during the press conference that the league's annual All-Star game would indeed replace the classic "pro bowl" game, and that the game would be hosted in Honolulu, Hawaii giving an added incentive for players to commit to the mid-season classic and also vacation with their family during the All-Star Break.

UFA NEWS: SS RALPH MOONEY REFUSES TO ACCEPT TRADE TO MICHIGAN CITING GM FRANCHISE'S LACK OF COMMUNICATION!

TULSA --- Hours after news broke that the new league year would start with a trade sending SS Ralph Mooney to Michigan for Kevin Daniels and a seventh round draft pick,  Mooney and his agent Amber Molina informed both sides that the trade would be vetoed thanks to Mooney's contract being fully-guaranteed, meaning he has the right to veto any trade along with being unable to be amnestied or cut for any type of financial relief.    Amber Molina spoke with the media after the news broke simply saying:

"A fully guaranteed contract means we have the final say, so for GM Franchise to agree to trade my client away without first seeking our permission is just another example of why we will not be re-signing with the Celtics next season, but we also will not be moving before that, unless we feel like it."

Meanwhile in Michigan Kevin Daniels, a 7 year veteran who's contract expires at the end of this season is said to be very unhappy with the news of his near trade and his agent Drew Leventhal is also said to be peeved with GM Powers.

...what a wonderful start to Season 11!

TUCSON STRIKES DEAL WITH CASTLE LAGER TO SPONSOR FOOTBALL TRAINING CAMP IN SOUTH AFRICA!

TUCSON --- GM Kirk was the first GM in the HIFL to reach out and establish a productive international training camp when he partnered with Chinese Sports Apparel power house Li-Ning to open the Li-Ning Academy in London.  Since then International Camps such as the Puma Brand Football camp in Germany, The ADIDAS Camp in Samoa, The Under Armour Camp in Australia (later rebranded as the Quantas Airlines Camp), The Roots camp in Canada, the Nike Mexico City Camp, and most recently the Warrior International Training Camp in Iceland; but now in Tucson, GM Kirk has struck a new deal to open a training camp in Cape Town, South Africa partnering with Castle Lager to make the camp happen.

While it has been rumored that the growing number of training camps have hurt and angered the International Federation of American Football, the organization behind the World Championships and World Cup Tournament, it has yet to prove a problem despite the fact that several International clubs have been considering making offers to the same players in an effort to drive up the costs for the HIFL parent clubs.

BEHR DANZER SURPRISES PLAYERS, FANS WITH NEW COLOR SCHEME AND UNIFORM ROLL OUT AT FINAL PRACTICE BEFORE PRE-SEASON GAMES!

KANSAS CITY --- Prior to the KC Bruins' final practice before their first preseason exhibition game, seldom seen owner Behr Danzer, the "Native American" owner and founder of the team as well as the Danzer Tribe's Skybear Casino and Resort in the heartland of Missouri, made an appearance along with a large display rolling out new helmets, uniforms, and merchandise to the players as part of a refreshing and surprising face lift to the franchise that has struggled to find a marketable identity due to their harsh color scheme.

"The people of Bruins Nation will rejoice that the Great Sky Bear has blessed us with a vision, a vision of a new color scheme for this franchise and its fans.." Danzer said in a later press conference that rolled out the new branding campaign to the general public.

Overall the new color scheme has been well received, but other teams who have recently undergone similar rebranding and retooling, namely Cleveland and Milwaukee each appeared a irked to have some of the spotlight taken from their big moments, Cleveland Owner Ace Profits tweeted:

"Just saw the new look for the KC Bruins, not impressed.  They have nothing and I mean nothing on our new look, nothing at all."

SPONSORS DEMANDING TEAMS LIVE UP TO THEIR END OF CONTRACTUAL DEALS!

Reports around the league are swirling as many of the league's top apparel companies that have partnered with various teams in the league are realizing the promises of promotions and PR campaigns for players on the teams' roster to promote the partnering brand during the off-season has been forgotten or ignored completely.

One company, Roots based out of Canada, is reportedly considering ending all ties with Rapid City and the Canadian Football Camp that has been established on the two organizations behalves, while others are still waiting until after the pre-season to see if these overlooked commitments will be fulfilled with separate PR campaigns from the teams' remaining bonus pool budgets.

Teams who have failed to meet contractual commitments with their sponsors prior to locking in for the pre-season could face a variety of penalties that could include legal action that would come directly from their Bonus Pool funds and could result in overages, penalties, and ultimately termination.

WITH GM ANDRE OUT, PORTLAND TACKLE DONALD FORD ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT IN SHOW OF SOLIDARITY!

PORTLAND --- Just hours after the news that GM Andre was being fired in Portland, The Brewers rookie tackle, wheelchair bound Donald Ford announced his decision to retire in a show of solidarity with the now fired GM.

Ford said: "It was a great ride, but if GM Andre isn't going to be a part of this franchise, then neither can I."

Ford's exit clears a large portion of the salary cap, and with some talent still on the board in free agency, newly appointed GM Tarquin Oldfield could plug some holes or add depth with the right investments.

SEASON 11 - PRESEASON

SUPERSHADE -- ORTEGA THROWS JAB AFTER SHELLEY SNUBS POST-GAME HANDSHAKE!

MOBILE --- With commercials running in the local Alabama market all week promoting Las Vegas' own "superman" quarterback Stephen Shelley, many Alabama Nighthawks fans came to the stadium rowdy and ready to remind the Scorpions QB who the "real" superman is in the HIFL, unfortunately for them Impact Bowl MVP Jamie Ortega was not dressed to play in the exhibition game.

While the player vs. player rivalry has been a hot topic for a couple of seasons now, last seasons game brought the rivalry to a new level as both QB's jawed during the game and used the same Superman taunt/pose after each touchdown they scored.  This weekend however, it appears that things went from a friendly rivalry to a new level when after the 25-13 Vegas win, Steph Shelley was seen on camera refusing to shake hands or embrace his Alabama counterpart, saying something inaudible as he blew him off and walked way leaving the Impact Bowl MVP Ortega with an agitated smile on his face.

When asked about the conversation at his postgame press conference, Shelley simply stated: "I don't shake hands with the water boy, I don't shake hands with dudes who don't dress for the game... so don't come at me with that mess boy."

When asked about Shelley's comments in a mid-week presser at the Nighthawks practice facility this week, Ortega smiled and responded saying, "Man, this kid's been trying to be me since he got here but he doesn't have no drip, he can't sling that sauce, and one thing he really needs to know is you don't tug on Superman's cape.   ..I was trying to be friendly, congratulate him on his win and yeah, I said something about his little commercial, but for him to get all pissy about it and blow me off, man I lost all respect for little Stephanie now.  It's all good though, if he wants to prove he can beat me, he has to find a way to meet me in Vancouver, because that's where I'll be waiting to defend this..."

Ortega went on to flash his Impact Bowl Championship ring before taking more questions about opening day.
