He' throwin' the ball 35 times a game, he's giving people chances, but our receivers couldn't catch the COVID if they were sneezed on at an indoor EDM party on a college campus in South Florida.

Jon Chapman is a 250K roster filler.
Robert Hitt so far is showing me he might be a WR3 one day, but that's about it and honestly he's probably more of a WR4 and that's as good as he will go.

Thomas Mulligan has decent hands and route running but he isn't strong enough to body a physical corner and he isn't fast enough to pull away so he's probably a WR4 with hopes of being a 3 or a 2 if he REALLY gets stronger in 3-4 years.

Greg White has great hands but is slow as the DMV on a Monday afternoon during lunch hour.

and Whelan is a special teams player with hopes of being a slot receiver in a few seasons if he's lucky.

Mazza's has only really been able to sorta trust Pitts and Erik is averaging 100 yards a game but in the end I don't think we're on track to be competitive before he becomes an older player. He's already 29 and he's not going to be getting better, at best he's going to maintain what he is now for a couple more seasons and then he'll start his decline.

That's my honest assessment of our receivers at this stage of our season.

Do you think we should acquiesce to Erik's request and see if we can get something decent for him while he is still a talent and keep building for next season?

It was a tough decision but like with Collins I had the chance to get decent draft capital.

Are we thinking Finch at WR1, White to WR2 and Hitt and Mulligan at 3 and 4 respectively?

GM Wrong, it's been a rough start, but we knew that coming into the season, Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was the Alabama Dynasty.  ...Don't let my grade make you think I am questioning your hire, I believe this team will bounce back next year.

Thank you Ms Barracuda. It's a tough season but I feel we all need to have your patience.

---

James T Crain please.

James, I'd really like to secure Eric's signature for a long term contract now. Is that something you would be considering?

That all depends on one question GM Wrong.

Are you prepared to make Eric the highest paid defensive player in the league?

I had intentions on making him the highest paid CB in the league but I don't have the capacity to make that desire of you and your client right now.

I shall come back to you at the end of the season if that's ok.

Thoughts?

That isn't even close to Daniel Maxley's $22MM+$4MM contract!  Consider me offended.

If you want him to sign without dipping his elite little toes into the free agent pool, we're looking at $30MM in annual earnings with no less of that being 24MM in salary.

SEASON 13 - WEEK 9

1. It was a wild week around the league, tell us about your week and what it means for the rest of the season going forward.
We lost again, but our defence stayed strong in that second half to keep them out and Eric got an outstanding end zone interception. It means little going forwards.

2. Will your team be active in this final week before the trade deadline, if so what do you see as your teams biggest need?
I've already been quite active in the market but I never say never. It depends if there are players here who don't want the fight.

3. Talk about your teams news AND any others that stood out to you.
If Eric says he's injured then I have no reason to not believe him. That's all I will say on that matter.

As for Cersei being interested in selling the franchise? I really feel Charlotte needs some stability but GM Kirk has brought that to the team and I hope they maintain some degree of harmony.

4. Talk about this upcoming week
We go again and we try. We try pretty damn hard and we see where we go from there.

I'd imagine any bad blood with Alabama would be addressed were we facing them but that is Vancouver's concern this week while we are going to be concerned with DC who will be hungry to get back on track.

No, he played the entire game hard and afterwards met with the trainer to go over some injuries that have been building up that he had been playing through.   I'm sure part of its tied to those rumors that we tried to re-sign him but didn't get a deal done, kid has to think about his own health when he doesnt have a long term deal.

We played hard, our run defense hurt us badly, and our combo of Nelson and Brown just really couldn't get anything going.

I think next game we start Brown and see how we get on. Is there anything we can do about our run D in the short term with what we have? Any players not pulling their weight?

Robinson has no future.  Sanborn hasn't performed at all so I think we might be better off giving Craig Jones some chances to play and see if that helps or even putting Will Hargraves in at DT.. Not a lot of options really, but we can mix and match.

Understandable and not huge options on the market to be honest.

Anything you would want to see in the trade market for us if the chance arises? On the flip side of that, any players do you feel would benefit from leaving or are untouchable?

I think our only untouchables should be our fully guarenteed guys, Van Buren, Eric Evans, and Scotty Stephens, and if Eric's not interested in coming back then obviously he should be on the block.

Eric Evans please.

Eric, first things first, how are you feeling?

Secondly I want to apologise for the confusion last week. I told James that I wanted to make you the highest paid CB and I didn't deliver on that offer. I made an offer that was below expectations. I effed up and that was on me. I'm hoping we can move past it and I can make a better deal for you later on when emotions have calmed down.

So let me ask you outright, if I can get you a trade for the right price, will you announce yourself as fit to play? By the same token, if I cannot achieve that, will you be fit to play for the rest of the season for us?

I'll play here or anywhere else the rest of the year as long as I'm legit healthy, so yeah man don't sweat that.

I consider myself a loyal guy  Loyalty and Success are what I want, so if you turn this thing around and make us into a playoff team I'd be happy to be here. Not saying I'm going to play for pennies, but that highest paid corner thing, that's just JTC wanting to make sure he gets his and I respect that too.

James T Crain please...

James, first of all I'm sorry. I didn't offer what Eric deserves, I calculated Everything poorly and was trying too hard too quickly. I did wrong by you and Eric and so I want to make amends.

I have 2 pathways. I have an offer I'd like to make you for Eric. I feel with him at Corner, we can honestly make great strides towards success and with Eric being one of the premier players in the team, I feel we can honestly do something special.

That is why I would like to make you another offer. One that does make him more money than Maxley as he so deserves...

Either starting now, 5 years, 23million, 3.25mm BP... that makes him the highest paid CB as of right now...
Or starting next season, 5 years, 25million with 2.5mm BP

Either way he's the highest paid CB and a figurehead of this Franchise

Failing that. I will do right by him... I promise

*GM Wrong arrives at the press conference and nods to staff waiting around the room. They all offer a choice of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks to all those in attendance. *

Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to invite you all to join me in a toast to an absolute stand out icon of this sport as we pay respects to the passing of Mr John McFadden. I have no doubt he's looking down on me now circling exactly where I'm going wrong but right now please join me in a toast to John McFadden.

*He raises his glass in a toast, takes a drink and bows his head in respect for a moment before sitting down to continue*

1. Talk about your week
A heavy defeat to a very talented DC team. GM Dazz has assembled a cracking team and he has assembled quite the team. I'm sure they will go far with that set up. As for us... You know the story. I'm not going to sound like a stuck record.

Talk about this upcoming week
It's a big one against Alabama. I know the teams have had beef in the past but I want to put that aside and have a good, competitive, clean game...

Coach... Do we need to say anything? Tommy was Tommy Tank.
