"Can we work a little magic here, AC?  I made a similar deal with Chris Allen last season- can we do a second year with a vesting option?  If Forrest ends up working his way to 500 yards, that second year becomes a player option.  We'll add an extra 250k to his salary and give him a chance to showcase what he's capable of in the preseason.  Does that work?

"2 years, $1m.  If Forrest reaches 500 yards this season, the second year will void and he'll become a free agent."

Without signing Mr. Fagan, sir?

We would have 3 open positions that are optional and open for any position. The rest of our mandatory roster spots are filled.

"Truthfully, we have some young QB's here in Atlanta.  And we'd be interested in bringing you in to be our third QB to serve as a player/coach type role - you'd work with our staff to help develop these guys and perhaps continue your playing career."

"I'll be honest - Todd is our QB of the future.  Your role would be to help him settle in to the HIFL.  But you know how things go.  You're only as good as your second and third QB's...you're one hit away from being back out on that field."

"We're offering a $4m - one year deal."

Not too bad, I think we should look in the draft for an undervalued safety or linebacker who is sort of a hybrid, one who can play that floating role but also drop into coverage when needed.

"Surely. I think we've got some guys that can certainly be molded in that role.  My biggest concern is the OL and DL.  We're obviously going to be in full-on building mode being an expansion team but I think we're going to have to put some additional focus there in camp getting some of these guys up to speed."

Chandler and Sanderson are monsters for us, but we need more on the D-line around them, as for the O-Line it's young, so lets see how they develop.

We're working on it.  The offensive line is strong in places but week in others, but Holcomb is a smashmouth Frank Gore-like running back, so I like what we are working with..

1. How did you feel your offseason went?

"I'm fairly happy with the way things unfolded for us here in Atlanta.  We knew it was always going to be a challenging beginning for us building this team from the ground up but I truly believe we have some foundational pieces here and we're going to continue to grow as a franchise."

2. After seeing them in camp and in pre-season, do you think you have any stand out rookies?

"Matthew Grover played extremely well at WR and we're pretty ecstatic with the debut of Philip Sanderson.  Edgar Reinhart had a nice interception against Long Beach."

3. Did you have any position battles in camp/preseason?  How did they turn out?

"WR is going to be the most contested position on our roster.  We've got some guys we really like there and all of them bring something different.  I'm not sure we could go wrong put any combination out on the field."

4. What was the highlight, and what was the lowlight of your preseason games?

"Well, obviously beating Las Vegas was a highlight.  Our guys showed the type of guts we expected out of them in coming from behind.  The low was such a poor performance against Long Beach.  But it's the preseason - we're not going to get too worked up."

5. What is this teams biggest challenge going into the season?

"Getting our offensive line to gel so quickly.  We're going to depend them on a lot and they haven't spent a ton of time together."

Ah, the perks of being an expansion team... small press rooms with people happy to hear your thoughts and not ask a lot of questions, unless there is a story that is.

Anyways, anything from Pre-season we need to discuss?

"I don't anticipate that will last long, coach.  I'm a bit concerned with our running game during the preseason.  Minus a 75-yeard scamper from David Bruce - it looked fairly ordinary.  What are your thoughts?"
