1. Use three words to classify how your off-season went, and explain.

Ready To Roll. Last year was a success, but we did come up short. This offseason was about adding on to what we had, not rebuilding. So with our additions, and the development of our younger players, we're ready to take the next step and fight for the title this season... we're ready to roll...

2. Coming out of training camp, where do you rank your team in the division, in the conference, and in the league?

We're a legitimate contender for the title. Many teams may say that, but we are. I have full confidence in that. Vegas seems to be improved, Rapid City is still loaded, and Seattle made a big splash in the offseason, but I truly believe that we are the team to beat this year.

3. Do you have any position battles planned for the preseason?  Which jobs are up for grabs and what do you hope to gain from the preseason games?

If our coaching staff identifies a player or players that earn their way into a starting spot then they should in fact start. There should always be competition for playing time. Complacency will lead to failure. But we aren't actively holding open tryouts for starting spots, either. It's always a balancing act, but we feel we've found our starting lineup.

Are there any other questions?

No let down. Last year we had a horrendous quarter that Rapid City took full advantage of. They saw an opportunity and seized on it. We can’t let our opponents get that opportunity. Four quarters of our best ball, and we can beat anyone.

Welcome back.  Daley was turning heads at every practice in training camp.. It's been a long ass time since I saw a player push his limits the way he does every week.  I love it.  Also, Longoria really did some nice things as well.

It feels so good to not worry about the QB position anymore. A good camp from Longoria is good for us, too. Could he potentially push for a starting spot this year?

Westmoreland is a strong pass blocker with average run blocking skills, he needs to work on his conditioning, but hes a solid back up and could stand in for one of our starters at guard if there were an injury.

For me Sandoval slots in behind Maldonado, but his work ethic and strength lend me to believe he is going to turn into a starter in the future.  he's got the tools, but right now he's a back up and mid-level injury stand in.

Good. I anticipated they'd be backups this year with the potential to start down the line, so hopefully that works out.

At running back, I defintely like the idea of starting with a committee approach, but do you have one guy that's ahead in terms of possibly being a #1 for us?

1. What did you gather from your preseason games?

The team played pretty well, as expected. Maybe a few tweaks are needed here and there going forward, but things are on the right track.

2. How much stock do you put into your teams preseason performance?

Not much. I just want to see our team going in the right direction, which we are. The final score of preseason games is irrelevant.

3. What is your primary and secondary goal this season, personally?

Win. That's it. That's our only goal. We were on the cusp last year. Time to take the next step. Winning is it for this team.

4. Who impressed you the most on your own team in the pre-season?

I like how Clarence Wesley looked out there. He had a great rookie season, and I expect him to give us another great year coming up.

5. With the start of the season finally here, what do you expect from your players in week one?

Victory. Oakland is a quality team, and may be improved over last year, but our team is poised to win, and should be ready for victory every week. Time to start 1-0...

I’m good.

Before things get rolling, I’m going to step in the locker room for a moment... Have a good week, Coach.

Maggie, let the players know I’m coming down.

Well, I guess there’s only one thing left to do...

Gravedigger pauses for a moment, making the players think about what he’ll say

Win the whole FUCKING thing...

1. Talk us through your first regular season game of the season, who impressed, who failed?

Well, not the start we were looking for. As a team with Impact Bowl aspirations, losing week one is a letdown, no doubt about that. First half was pretty rough all around. Second half was better, and we had our chances to win the game. It just didn't work out for us in the end. Oakland did what they needed to do, and played physical with us up front. I have to give them credit. I wouldn't say anyone on our team failed, but there's plenty of room for improvement. As for who impressed, I thought Melvin Williams had a hell of a game. It seemed like he was everywhere...

2. What do you want to see your team improve on the field?

I think we can improve in all phases of the game, and we need to improve in all phases to be the team we want to be...

3. Give us a take from at least two of the stories in the media this week.

Atlanta winning was certainly a shock. I'm not sure GM Lucas will ever stop celebrating that win. But to his credit, he had a pretty quiet offseason by his standards, and made solid moves to improve his team. Atlanta is pretty good.

As for the Vegas/Bama QB thing, what I see is two teams that want to win, and are confident in their abilities. Ortega and Shelley exude the confidence of their GMs, who are at minimum border-line egotistical. But that confidence/ego is a big part of what drives them, so it's not a surprise to see them show it. In the long run each of those teams will feed off of what their GMs and QBs do and say.

4. Talk to us about your upcoming game this week. What is the biggest match up to watch in your eyes when it comes to victory?

I never expected week 2 to be such a big game, but here we are. Two championship hopefuls, both staring the possibility of 0-2 right in the face. We've gotten the better of Vegas lately, but it's always close. We don't have room for error, not only to win this game, but to not get a losing streak going. And like I said earlier, we need to play better in all phases of the game. The errors that Oakland took advantage of will absolutely be exploited by Vegas as well if we don't play a cleaner game. It's put up or shut up in this one...

Agreed.

Terrible first half of play, running game was terrible, and yet we had a 33 yarder to win the game... and Bambi misses one of the easiest kicks he'll ever have...

This could be a rough week if we can't establish some sort of running game, but at least we have Keenan if we need to throw the ball 40 or 50 times.

This was our first look at a real game with Coach Sanchez instead of Coach Brigham. Any glaring differences in their playcalling that could have contributed to the "uneven" offensive production?

Coach Sanchez is actually more in favor of running the ball than Coach Brigham ever was, but when things weren't working we shifted gears and passed the ball more.  Coach Brigham is a hard guy to replace, but I think Sanchez is a good choice for the job.

I’ll let you get back to work.

Let’s talk to Coach Quinn.

Coach, I was meeting with Coach Action and he suggested the idea of upping our blitz percentage to get to Shelley and make it tougher on him. I agree.

What’s our current blitz percentage?

1. What stood out to you this week from your game, both good and bad?

Any time you beat a team with the talent of Las Vegas you have to feel good coming out of the game. We've done well against them the last few years, but I don't take any victory against them lightly. We have to be ready to play when we take the field against them. Keenan showed once again that he's a franchise cornerstone at Quarterback. That will lift the Impact Bowl trophy more than once in his career, I'm sure of that. And Shawn Simon is just a beast. I don't know what else to say at this time. Ricky made some explosive plays in our passing game as well. On defense we were good. Holding them to 18 is a good result. Getting a special teams touchdown from Council was a nice surprise. Any time you run back a kick it makes it easier on everyone. We won, it's hard to not like how things went down...

2. How do you feel about GM's feuding with the owners of other franchises?

It's not something I intend to get involved with. If other GMs want to get into these battles, that's their choice. I'm more concerned with helping our franchise win it's first championship.

3. Two games into the season, are you getting what you expected out of your team?

We're one win short of where I thought we'd be, but we had chances to win week one. We're still sharpening things up to get to our optimal level of play, but we're on the right track.

4. No team is perfect, what do you feel your biggest weakness is going into week three?

I'd like to see us run the ball more effectively. The first two games could have been a function of playing two talented defensive lines that could slow us down, but we should still get more yardage out of our runs.

5. Which match up will be the key to victory for your team this week?

Keeping our passing game rolling against their linebackers and secondary. I fully expect us to start running the ball better, but for now we might need to rely on the air attack just to let our backs get into their groove. If Daley and company do their thing, we'll be 2-1 at the end of this game...

I think the uptick in blitzing really helped us keep Shelley running for his life.

It really did. This was a good statement that we are still a big time threat in this league.

Now we're on to our old friend Coach Diaz and his surprise 2-0 team. What are their strengths in your opinion?

Yeah, I give them a bit of credit for getting two wins, but we NEED to be 2-1 after this week.

Would keeping the blitz % high again this week be beneficial, or should we go back to 50%?

I liked the aggression this week, lets get in their conglomerate of mid-tier QBs faces and force them to make quick decisions.

Sounds good. It will be a good test to see if keeping the pressure up on a long term basis can help us.

Sorry, cut myself off there...

Offense is what it is right now. If the running woes continue we'll have to dig deeper to see what's going on, but for now let's try to let the boys work it out on the field...

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

Solid game by us this week. The running game was improved this week, which definitely made it easier all around for our offense. Keenan had another efficient game, and our big guys outside, Simon and Lackey, continue to make plays week after week. On defense we got 4 sacks and forced a couple turnovers, so I'm pleased with the effort. Maybe gave up a few too many rushing yards, but not enough to worry about long term. I pleased with the overall work by our team this week.

2. The XFL and AAF have been very quiet since their championship games received very low viewership, do you believe there is room for that many professional football league's in America?

Sometimes have a lot of options is a good thing, but a problem you can run into is oversaturation. I feel like either the XFL or the AAF can be successful, but not both. Fans will get burned out with too much football, so what might be best for the game as a whole is to either have one league shut down operations, or perhaps join forces to have one other option.

3. Talk about something going on around the league this season that has interested you in one way or another.

I feel like the world is starting to count out Vegas, and I'm not ready to do that. We're only 3 games into the season. Hell, they could still go 13-3. There's too much talent for me to say they're finished. I still fully expect our game in week 17 to be meaningful for both teams.

4. What do you make of the incredible season Jamie Ortega is having this year, first place in passing and rushing TDs, as well as rushing yards all while only having one interception on the season.. is that MVP Caliber in your eyes, and if not, who is your early favorite for league MVP?

I'd love to pick one of our guys as the frontrunner, but I will give Jamie his due. He is playing at a level we haven't seen from him before. Winning the title last year seems to have elevated his confidence on the field, and with it his efficiency and playmaking ability. If he's not the front runner for MVP then I have no idea who is...

5. Talk to us about your upcoming game this week.  What will be the key to victory?

Well, we've never lost to Tulsa. I don't see that streak ending this week. If we play our game, we'll win. Simple as that.

You brought the truth to that presser... from Vegas, to Ortega, to Beating the shit out of Tulsa, again... I love it.

Thanks, Coach.

I think we're finally getting into form this year. I see no reason to change it up for Tulsa... they had to trade most of those "MONSTERS!!!!!!!!!!" anyway....

They've got that kid Clancy who's playing great ball at corner, but he's a shrimp, and man... Simon brings the cocktail sauce every week.

Shane Barkley couldn't stop Shawn, so let's just say I like his chances this week...

Offensively they haven't done a whole lot this year. I say we just keep lining up the same way and go get that W. Sound good to you?

Nice. Have a good week, Coach.

Let’s talk to Shawn Simon.

Shawn, you are killing it out there this year. I love the confidence in saying your goal is 1600 yards. And you know what? You can get it done.

Keep grinding and you could be looking at Offensive Player of the Year...

Thanks boss-man, I've hit 1400 twice and 1500 once, so I don't think its a stretch to keep up this pace. Right now the stats nerds told me I'm right on pace for 2027 yards, so even if I drop a little in yards per game, I should be able to hit my mark.

Love the confidence you have in your game. You will keep dominating. You're that type of player. Keep up the great work.

-----------

Maggie, I'd like to speak with Coach Action again. Thank you.

-------------

Coach, made a move. We ran the ball better this week, but I'm still unsure about the group we had. I think Spurgeon can make us more dynamic across the board on offense, and can give us what Kenneth was last year...
