That's an excellent mindset to have. Proving yourself over being given an opportunity too early shows that you have a great work ethic and are willing to show you deserve a head job.

Well, to be frank, I made FSU a defensive powerhouse. Before that I spent 10 years in Denver and 5 years in Washington. I've had great running backs in my past, but defense is what I hang my hat on.

You make it sound so simple. No, but I like my linebackers to be able to drop into coverage for when we are not blitzing. I value coverage skills and speed over blitzing ability and strength.

What positions do you begin building a team with?

a smart middle linebacker, a shutdown cornerback, a strong offensive line, and a strong defensive line. Quarterbacks and running backs are a dime a dozen, and wide receivers you can find later in the draft, but those core positions are key, to me..

I started coaching with my dad when I turned 20. I got my 2 year degree and started on his staff. I started off coaching DB's worked my way up to Defensive coordinator, and I run the same defense as my dad does.
