No questions here, but I do hope that you'll keep in mind that if I am brought in, I'm going to hoping to scout at the big schools, I'm not big on sniffing around small schools.  Those schools don't get the fast boys.

I'd be looking to scout all over, but if you do end up bringing that fire breathing defense here, I could probably lean more towards the big schools, at least as far as defense goes. I don't want to limit myself though.

Thanks for coming in, Mr. Graham. I'm sure we will be in touch.

I've been a coach a long time, mostly in the college game, but I took a job in Detroit as offensive coordinator 14 years ago and never went back to Michigan after that.  I run a tactically sound precision pass game.  a little more pass than run, but a balanced overall approach that slowly moves the ball down the field.

I'm a big proponent of the power run game, wear them down and then when they crowd the box, I like to have a WR who can explode for a big play..

Nice. I am looking to build a high profile offense that burns the competition whether that be with the run or the pass.

Would your preference be a feature back of a committee type approach?

I call it a feature back approach, but I like to have my primary back be a big bruising back with a back up with a lot of speed who I use in certain packages.  Its not a committee, but there are special sets that the speedster is used in...

Good to know. I always like to have a nice back up in case the feature goes down. Something where we won't be screwed if we lose our starter.

What kind of tempo do you like to run your offense in?

Hello Mr. Gates, thank you for giving the chance to talk about your coaching positions.

...I am a former running back who spent a few years in the pros before retiring.  I got into coaching at my alma mater of Auburn about 8 years ago, I started off as a running back coach and then became the teams offensive coordinator.  I've been OC at Auburn for the past 5 years and under my watch the Tigers put together a devastating spread offense that capitalized on quick wide receivers and a mobile QB with a strong running back. Tre Mason, Nick Marshall, Cam Newton, all kids I molded into college winners.

Sounds great, Mr. Graham. What we're looking to do here, is build a high profile offense that will put up a lot of points and yards, whether that's from the QB or the RB.

Do you like to work in a fast tempo or slow it down?

That's what I like to hear. I like to keep the tempo up, the fire burning and the foot on the has pedal.

If my notes are correct, you've worked on the same staff as Ken Graham at Auburn? If this is indeed true, how would you say your relationship is with him.

I like the sounds of that, Mr. Graham. Who knows, maybe we can bring the swagger and the dagger to Rapid City.

You mentioned your like having a strong running back. Does this mean you prefer one feature back to showcase, or do you like to have a sort of committee approach, with a few different guys doing the leg work?

I like a star at RB, but because of our pace having a committee isn't really a bad thing either. my offense works with either, as long as they are fast.

I like to have the back up capable of performing if he is thrust into the starters role due to an injury. Maybe not a committee, but usable depth.

Do you like to run the ball often?

I'd say overall I'm balanced in my attack, but on early downs I prefer to run far more than pass.   Later in the downs I go to the pass, but it's more so off of play action. [/i]

Minor brain fart there, Mr. King. To be honest, I'm not as knowledgeable with the defensive side of the game as I am the offensive side, which is probably why my question made no sense. Though I do like the experience you have as a coordinator, it's definitely an asset in these situations.

At this point, do you have any questions?

Mr. McCarthy, GM Gates here again, so glad to speak with you again. I must say, after our last interview, I was quite impressed with you and your philosophies. I thought maybe we could continue our discussion from earlier, ask a few more questions, and dive a bit deeper into the mind of Bernard McCarthy.

Last time when we were talking about QBs, you mentioned that a smart and accurate QB was important. My question for you is what kind of QB do you prefer? A pocket passer or a mobile QB that can run the ball if need be?

In my experience, I've noticed that most mobile QB's are less accurate and more arm strength, so I'd probably lean more towards a pocket passer, unless we scouted a guy who was mobile and very accurate already.

Excellent, excellent. If there's one thing I'm liking about you more and more, it's your flexibility and versatility. That would definitely be an asset for an expansion team like ours. I've got to say Mr. McCarthy, the interest in trying to bring you to Rapid City is ever-growing.

As a coach, is there something on the offensive side of the ball that you have always wanted to do, you just never had the opportunity or personnel to do so?

I haven't really thought about it that way, but more-so than on the offensive side, the one thing I haven't done is a team effort, I've never won a Championship.

I believe Mr. Gates that with your abilities at GM, from what I have gathered in our meetings, and with my knowledge of the game we can bring a championship to Rapid City.

I believe I would be willing to sign for less here than I may have originally aimed for, I consider Rapid City my top destination option at this time..

I couldn't agree more with you, Mr. McCarthy, and I'm glad to hear that we are currently your top option. Of course, winning a championship is my goal, though I can't say it's going to happen in the first year. But if we do manage to bring you in as head coach, I think you're right, the two of us working together can make that happen.

One more question for you. I like to have a coaching staff that gets along and is able to work well together. Are there any certain personality types you would not work well with as far as coordinators go? Or are you open to whoever runs a good defense?

Right now I don't have a preference, I get along with most people, I'm not a very high strung guy...

Sounds good, Mr. McCarthy. Those are all the questions I have for you, we'll be in touch.

---------

Ashley, can you please get me in touch with Bradford Styles?

---------

Mr. Styles, how are you doing? GM Gates of the Rapid City Inferno here. I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about yourself and your coaching philosophy.

I'm a recently retired player man, I just know the defense I played in.  A 4-3 system that doesn't blitz much.
