My name is Aaron King, and I'm the king of rock and roll music here in Nashville.  I want my kingdom to expand though you see?  We want to be kings of rock and kings of football, if you think you have the keys to success and are more than just a hound dog, come in here and settle these suspicious minds and help us win... Glory Glory... Hallelujah.

...Thank you, Thank you very much.

"Well, boss, what I do know, is that I sing from a different hymn sheet when it comes to the rest of the General Managers in this league. I had some experience in managing both Daytona and Mexico City during my Baseball days, and I'll be honest... I don't know shit about Baseball, and I still managed to build a team in Daytona that had real promise, the potential to be a winner ya could say. Mexico City though, I did what I could, I'd built the team around a couple of stars in the making and unfortunately, we all know what happened with the league.

Football though? I don't know if you know me by name, but I've got some history in the sport... and needless to say, I'm a little more grounded these days..."

MOTIONS TOWARD WHEELCHAIR

"I will build you a winning team, a team rough, raucous, physical team that will help the Music City Kings conquer this league. I've got a habit of finding my way to the top on the totem pole. A lot of GM's they just see players as numbers, names amongst statistics, and whilst I ain't ignorant to those details, I'm more about the mental aspect of the game. With the right mentality, an average player can become a threat. I want killers out on that field. We'll plunder and pillage the HIFL and get you a crown. And that's a promise that comes with the Santelmo Stamp of Approval."

I like what you've had to say there GM Garcia, and I have heard of you, hopefully we're throwing fewer Hail Marys than you did during your wrestling days, if you know what I'm sayin...

...Here's the deal, you gotta be able to shake, rattle, and roll to in the championship, and I believe you've got the drive and attitude to do that.   You've got me all shook up, and I can't help fallin' in love with your approach.  Let's talk about guarantees, what do you believe is a reasonable 3 year plan for the King's Kings?...

"Reasonable? Contention. Three years and we can be right in the mix. That in my eyes is a reasonable goal. But if ya don't mind me speaking frankly, I ain't too much about the reasonable! We got disadvantages, being an expansion and all, but give me a year to lay the foundation and after that, I'd be looking to make some noise! I don't throw too many Hail Mary's these days, which I'm sure you're glad to hear, but I still believe in that ethos, in that mentality.

I'd love to do it right from the off, but even a man as confident as myself understands that there needs to be some time allowed for adjustments. Year one, we get the foundation, I drill into these guys what we're all about here in Nashville. Year two, we weed out the fellas that ain't got it in them, we improve where needed and we starting throwing Hail Mary's!

Metaphorically."

GM Garcia, I know you are currently on vacation, but if you are interested in getting an early start on interviewing potential coaching candidates, I have attached a list of who we expect to be available once the off-season begins.

Feel free to place some calls and feel some coaches out.  We will not be allowed to extend offers until the offseason, but it may be good to establish some rapport with them before the APL, or other GM's have a chance to get to know them.  Please mind that the names highlighted in grey are currently under contract and will not be accepting phone calls.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Hello GM Garcia, I'm going to be blunt here, I'm not a big chit-chatter, but here is my life in a nutshell. I made FSU a defensive powerhouse. Before that I spent 10 years in Denver and 5 years in Washington as head coach in both locations.  I've had great running backs in my past, but defense is what I hang my hat on.

As long I hear what I need to hear, I don't need you too say much coach. I will tell you my vision with this teams future, and excuse my lack of modern day jargon, I haven't been involved in the sport for a long time. Essentially, I want a team that will throttle the opponent on offense and defense, constant pressure, blitzing, a grinding, nasty attitude where our foot remains firmly on the throat of our opponents at all times. I have a vision, but I ain't a coach so I am looking to hire someone who can get us somewhere close. What formation have you had success with? And where does the real talent need to lie for your defense to be at its peak?

I have always deployed a 4-3 base, I want strong defensive linemen so my talented linebackers do not have to blitz often.  If want to blitzkrieg the defense, you will need to find another man for the job.

I will be frank with ya coach, that is what I envisioned for the future BUT 8 the right man can steer us in a similar direction I am not against the idea. Do you look to operate a run first offense?

Your numerical speech is confusing the shit out of me kid, but my offense is simple, run the ball with a slew of nameless faces and watch the wins roll in I have a unique scheme for the run that works miracles with young running backs.

Well, my brother and I both left the NFL about a year apart, and while he's still doing his "thing" at Michigan, I decided after a little time here at the University of Maryland it was time to stop thumping my little brother and give him a shot to win the Big 10, so I have decided a return to the pro game was in order.

I can attest to that, though it wasn't a little brother, but some of our fellow GM;s... they know who they are. What was your role at Maryland? What have you taking from your pro career into coaching?

I have been the head coach here at Maryland since my arrival.  I enjoy the college game due to the opportunity to get out and evaluate talent and recruit them to the team.  That is why I look forward to being a coordinator in the HIFL, it gives me the chance to get out and scout the next generation of players, while still working on the defenses that I love.

As for what I have taken from my pro career into coaching, I believe that hard work and effort trumps raw talent.  Just because you are fast and agile doesn't mean you will succeed, but if you work your hardest, put the team before yourself, and fight for every play, you will be successful on the field and in life.

I plan to be a head coach in the near future but I believe you have to pay your dues at every stop. Start as a coordinator and prove the system and coaching is to the caliber of the league.

As for my defense I run a unique hybrid scheme of 4-3 and 3-4, a scheme I hope to teach to a young understudy in the future so that the sche can continue to run once I do become a head coach.

Can you give me a little more information on this hybrid defense? I'm a specialist guy, ya know, might need a few things spelling out for me but I know what I am looking for. Where would your key players be at, to make your scheme work at its peak.

4-3 defense in short yardage situations, 3-4 in medium yardage situations, blitzing more out of the 3-4 than the 4-3, but also being able to run the nickle or dime in long yardage situations. It allows me to use some players that some people say are "tweeners" who don't have a true position and get the most out of them by using them in situations that play off of their strengths and mask their weaknesses.

This sounds all good to me. I know there is a lot of interest out there in a defensive coordinator such as yourself, is there anything particular you are looking for in an organisation to work in? I'm talking location, structure, no glass ceiling, etc.

That's good to hear, my friend. So I'm going to straight, there are a few more people to talk to, but I would love to have that kind of defensive present here at the Kings. I ain't much for kissing ass and doing the hard sell, but I got this knack for bringing success with where ever I go, I pay fair, and I'm more than fine with anyone I employ being straight with me. You will be getting an offer from the Kings, if ya haven't already been tempted elsewhere, I think you would do more than well here. I have a vision, but I will mould that to the coaching staff I have and what they are looking for, where their strengths are, you won't be shoehorned into playing a system you don't 100% believe in.

Before I let you go back to the rest of your business, is there anything you want to know about the Kings, Me, Princess?

I'm a big proponent of the power run game, wear them down and then when they crowd the box, I like to have a WR who can explode for a big play.. .

I'd say I've been successful, I'm no legend, but if I don't land a job in the HIFL I'll be in high demand in the APL and the college game.

I wouldn't worry about getting hired, my friend. So in regards to your offense system, you obviously need the right men running it, what type of player would be your preference in the key roles?

I look for hard working players who are strong. Strength is key for my running backs and offensive line, run blocking is my biggest attribute when it comes to the o-line, but I don't want kids who flat out can't pass block.

...QB just needs to be smart.

Well it appears GM Garcia as just a hound dog.

I'm looking for a new GM to come in here and settle these suspicious minds and help us win... Glory Glory... Hallelujah.

...Thank you, Thank you very much.

Mr. King, my name is Justin and this is my official application to be the new GM of the Kings. Born and raised in South Carolina I am aware of the southern culture which puts a big emphasis on music and family. I have a history of being a successful general manager,  albeit in basketball.  I feel that I can bring that same winning pedigree to the Kings and build this franchise into a perennial powerhouse.

GM Justin, a fresh face to the league is what this league needs I believe, so I'll tell you what... answer a few questions for me and we'll see if you're a good fit for this organization.

First question, what type of coach would you look for as our head coach?

I am looking for a coach that is committed to three things:

1) Discipline
2) A strong running game
3) Defense

I believe those to be the three fundamentals to winning.

Well it sounds like you've got a good head on your shoulders, so let me ask you this next question.

Veterans or youth?  Which do you value more in building this expansion team, and why?

In all honesty it depends on the position. For example, we would need a veteran quarterback to lead the team but could go with youth at the running back position. Same on defense,  I would go with a veteran middle linebacker and youth at the defensive tackle position.
