"Good evening, Mr. King.

My name is GM Rebel and as of a few minutes ago, I'm currently without a job. I'd like the opportunity to run with things here in Music City. While I don't look back negatively on my time in Atlanta, the opportunity to beat them twice a season is certainly enticing.

Do you have any questions for me?"

Just a few questions before I make you the man here...

1. What do you think is our strength and weakness on this roster?

2. Do you plan on rebuilding or improving what we have?

3. What type of contract are you looking for:
a. year to year with varying expectation
b. 3 years, showing improvement each year with a goal of playoffs in 3 seasons
c. 4 year deal, playoffs expected in each of the last 3 seasons

Each will have their own perks and risks...
a. you are liable to be fired if you piss me off, but expectations will be varied on your performance and the teams outlook, similar to what most GMs have had up until now. Your ability to risk assets will be less likely to be approved or allowed.

b. you will be expected to rebuild the team but we need to see progress, year 1 is of no consequence, but year 2 needs improvement and year 3 is playoffs or you are likely fired..

c. You will only be fired if you make a MAJOR mistake or two or fail to make the playoffs in the seasons mentioned, but you are also more liekly to be granted permission to make risks and big moves to improve the teams chances.

1. What do you think is our strength and weakness on this roster?

"The passing game is quite a strength at the moment: Trevor Jose is really flinging it around out there. You could see a noticeable drop-off when Trevor was in the game as opposed to when he wasn't. We saw that firsthand in week one where he put a hurting on the Warriors. I think defensively, this team has the potential to be tops in the league. I scouted Hiro Nakamura before the draft and have really enjoyed watching him come in to his own."

"The running game is a weakness at the moment. If hired here, one of my priorities would be to find a way to get those guys going."

2. Do you plan on rebuilding or improving what we have?

"I think there's the potential for this team to win some games. I don't foresee a rebuild."

3. What type of contract are you looking for:
a. year to year with varying expectation
b. 3 years, showing improvement each year with a goal of playoffs in 3 seasons
c. 4 year deal, playoffs expected in each of the last 3 seasons"

"I'm here for the long-haul, Mr. King. I'd had every intention of sticking with Atlanta, even if a rebuild was necessary and I was going to have to start from scratch. Loyalty is important to me - so, I'd be seeking a 4-year deal (c)."

I'll tell you what GM Rebel...  I'll give you the 4 year deal, starting after this season, consider this an "interim" year in terms of expectations, your playoff expectation will begin the season after next... so do what you need to do to put this team in position to return to glory...  Good luck.

The biggest needs I see are interior offensive line improvement and defensive line upgrades, specifically our 2nd DE and our defensive tackle spots

"Thanks for that insight. We'll start upgrading our boards on players we're looking for. Before we lock-in, are you happy with our offense currently? I know we're in the middle of the season and it's hard to make too many adjustments - but do you see anything immediately that we can shift around a little to become a little more dynamic? I'm going to speak to Cameron as well but wanted to get your thoughts before doing so."

We have a great pass attack, but we also have a pair of stud running backs, we might be best to use them a little more to give a more well rounded attack.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

"I thought we played pretty well defensively. Holding Alabama to a 332 total yards isn't anything to shake a stick at - and put us in a position to win. The penalties, turnovers and our struggles running the football essentially did us in. The good news is - all those things can be fixed. Those are instances where we're shooting ourselves in the foot and at the end of the day: we can correct those issues."

2. Give us an evaluation of the first quarter of the season for your team, who has stood out both good and bad?

"Seeing as I've only been here a week - I can't answer that question."

3. With where you sit in the standings, do you feel it is a true reflection of your team? Where do you feel you should stand, and what do you need to do to achieve that by the end of the season?

"It's been a rocky start in Music City this season. They've had GM's come and go all offseason long and I think the rocky start is attributed to the turnover. I hope that we've stabilized some of that and can begin to right this ship. There are a lot of solid pieces on this team - it's not that the cupboard was bare. I'm honestly pretty excited for the future of this franchise."

4. What has been the biggest challenge for your team so far this season, and who would you say was your teams MVP?

"We've got to be able to run the ball more efficiently. The MVP has to be Trevor Jose. He's the key for our offense."

5. Talk to us about your upcoming game this week.  What will be the key to victory?

"Orlando is coming to town. Defense and ball control will be the name of the game."

"There's a lot of football left, coach. I've been thinking about making a shake-up in the running back depth chart. What do you think about increasing Pugh's carries a bit? While Trevor and this WR crew has been reeeeally good this season, I don't think we can keep counting on Trevor, at 33, to continue at this clip. We need to get him some help. What do you think about that?"

I think you underestimate Trevor Jose, but if you want to give Pugh more carries, we can work it in. Carlson will not be thrilled, but its your call.

WEEK 5

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

"Really great job all around. I'm obviously extremely happy to gain that first victory as general manager of Music City under my belt. Offensively, I thought we moved the ball well - Trevor Jose continues to be the catalyst for this team. We won the time of possession, turnover battle, and cut our penalties from the previous weeks. I appreciate coach Crowder's attention to detail and making sure we're a disciplined football team."

"The only negative from the week is giving up the kickoff return. But we're moving in the right direction."

2. What did you pick up form the news this week?  Anything concerning, or interesting?

"The league is in full HIFL mode. Anything can happen on any day, and I think we're seeing some of the fall out from that. It seems taboo to say but it'll be interesting to see what happens."

3. How do you evaluate your coaching staff, so far this year?

"I don't have enough time to tell you how thankful I am to have inherited this staff. They've really held things together in the absence of front office stability and they were rewarded with a big win this week. Really excited to see how they continue to push this football team to the next level."

4. What do you expect the Commissioner to talk about this week when he makes his highly anticipated announcement?

"I honestly have no idea what's next for the HIFL. It's such a massive operation now- but the commissioner always has a few tricks up his sleeve and trying to figure out the next step is always a challenge."

5. Talk to us about your upcoming game this week.  What will be the key to victory?

"DC is a tough match-up for anybody. They've got an explosive offense and a high-powered pass rush. So, we're going have to slow down their DL and find a way to stop the pass. Our guys are up for the task."

It is always tough to match up with DC, but between your history of upsetting them in Atlanta, and our stable of running backs against their weakened defensive line... I think we have all the tools in place to put them in the loss column this week.

"They won't be any easy win, coach. But I think we've got the potential to do some damage. Getting back to .500 would be one heckuva statement."

"It's going to be hard to slow down our pass offense with the way Trevor is slinging it but do you think we should increase our running percentage this week to try and wear them down?"

I'd rather run on that defensive front than try to lean heavily on the pass when Glass and Juan Kirk are there, I wouldn't skew it too much, but a little more rushing attack could be the right answer.

"You got it."

"Also, I'd like to ramp up the pressure. I've always thought the key to slowing down DC is getting after their QB. I know they have a pretty stout OL at the moment... but there seems to be some cohesion issues. I think we can really rush at their RT position and maybe try to take advantage of a guy who may not necessarily be as motivated. What do you think?"

WEEK 6

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

"There was certainly a lot that went right for us this week. While the East remains wide open, any time that you can notch a victory over the D.C., it's a good week. GM Jon has built quite the machine there and we're thankful to have had an opportunity to get back to 3-3 and in the thick of the playoff hunt."

"Our defense played another incredible game. We forced 4 turnovers, held them under 300 total yards, 6 sacks, and a safety. That's always a recipe for a victory."

"I'm thrilled with our progress this season but can't let our guard down. Have to keep getting better each day."

2. Talk about a couple of the topics that stood out to you in the news this week.

"My thoughts go out to Crawford after his torn ACL. Music City wishes him a speedy recovery."

3. What did you make of the announcement of the HIFL Minor League, do you believe it is a positive addition?

"It seems like a good idea. We'll have to see how it shakes out."

4. Talk to us about your upcoming game this week.  What will be the key to victory?

"A reeling Dragons team is still a dangerous Dragon team. We'll have to continue to put pressure on their QB and ride our defense."

In our second possession of the 2nd half, he got shaken up after trying to throw a block to open up a hole for Pugh, we kept him out to make sure he wasn't concussed.

Yeah, I took a shot out there, but that's football, I gotta remember I'm not a kid anymore out there, haha.

"Well, I've got tip my cap to you. The team, the coaching staff, and all of us in the front office can't tell you enough how much we respect you for the way you lay everything out on the line week after week. You have been a rock for this franchise. And because of the way you've lead by example for this team, we've got a chance to really compete this season when the outlook was fairly bleak just a few weeks ago."

I don't know how to fail boss, I'll always give everything I've got to get a win for the team.  We're going to keep trending upwards.

1. Talk us through this weeks game. What went wrong?  What went right?

"We let the game slip away from us in the fourth quarter. Really good effort but we just couldn't pull it out."

2. Talk about a couple of the topics that stood out to you in the news this week.

"Bruiser Elliott being out for the year sucks."

3.  Talk to us about your upcoming game this week.  What will be the key to victory?

"Scoring more points than the other team."

Its going... I get the cast off in a couple of weeks, so then I can get back to getting into game shape after that.
