Computer Games
« on: December 29, 2015, 12:02:59 AM »
I'm sure most of us spend a lot of time playing them, so we should probably have a topic to talk about them in. I'll start off by asking for advice. I just sold my PS3 and want to upgrade to the next gen. Should I get a PS4 or X-box? I don't think that most of the media stuff will work over here in China, so I'm not really interested in Netflix or any of that sort of stuff. I'm more interested in the gaming experience and which one has better exclusives.

it depends on your gaming preference... you had a ps3 , PS4 is upgraded version of it .  you what you are going to get from it .  I am not sure of the type of Gaming Experience you get from PS4 , But I have Xbone and I love it .  I think you could not do wrong with either one , I know there are few games on the PS4 that I want to play.  Until Dawn come to mind.

From a pure hardware standpoint, the PS4 is more powerful. Remember that the real selling points for these systems is the features. That's what the developers focused on, so it's a matter if what features you want.

I have a PS4, all I do is game and Netflix/WWE and it's great.

If I was just doing gaming, I'd have a PS4, but I love my Xbox One.

I'm not sure about the PS4, but it just edges the Xbox One in terms of hardware like Bone said. As an Xbox One user, I can only comment on my experience with it:

However IMO the controller for a PS4 is fair inferior and was the original deciding factor for me. PS2 was one of my favorite systems but I never liked the domed joysticks. The Xbox One controller fits perfectly in my hands where as the PS4 is on the smaller side.

Xbox one also has Live sharing and game sharing feature that I'm not sure PS4 has. Essentially if you can link your Xbox up with literally anyone, a friend someone from MFX/Here you can share games. One guy buys the game and it can be used on two consoles. So....if you both found a game you wanted cut the price in half. It'll have to be digital download is the catch, but considering the absolute robbery that game trading is at gaming stores, digital is the way to go.

Also Xbox One is constantly releasing reverse compatible games, so a lot of the fan favorite titles from the Xbox 360 can be played on the Xbox One.

It's Xbox one and it's not even close. Better exclusive games for the Xbox one, because the PS4 has no upcoming exclusive worth a damn past uncharted in 2016. And in 2017 very little again.

Any game you get for the ps4 you can get for the Xbox. The game sharing isn't as simple as Cory said. You have to set your buddies Xbox as your "home" Xbox and vis versa to do it. Me and my brother do it and it helps incredibly with purchasing a game.

The only perk to a PS4 is they have MLB the show, the only baseball game out there but I imagine that won't last too much longer, figure Mircosoft will purchase some rights.

I've always disliked the offset thumb sticks.

I've always had them, since the first Xbox, so I never really noticed a problem.

I find it much easier to move between the direction pad and analog stick when the directional pad is slightly to the left of your thumb rather than an inch below it.

Software>Hardware. And it's minimal difference in hardware at best.

I loved the PS2, got a Xbox 360 and then a PS3 shortly after. Rarely bought games that were multiplatform on the PS3. They lost me as they pumped out weak lineups year in and year out.

Kirk asked which one has the better exclusives, and it's Xbox by vulture of actually having exclusive titles coming out throughout 2016. The gaming experience difference is minimal, as someone who has played games on both consoles this past year.

I had a big reply typed out, but then it didn't send and disappeared when I pressed the back button. I'll not type it again but here's the gist. Microsoft are a bunch of cunts but I'm still leaning towards the xbone. The PS4 does seem more like a console for grown-ups but a lack of games is a real killer.

It doesn't lack games so uhhh...

Honestly you should do research and find out which company is more China friendly.

Neither of them are particularly China friendly (well, China isn't friendly to them). They are both massively overpriced here and are going to struggle to get any interest from Chinese gamers. I'm going to buy one in Hong Kong (or even the UK is cheaper than here) but I still don't know which. It will likely be a gut (or wallet) decision.

I've hit the PS4 because I've had playstations since PS1. I most do WWE and Netflix these days, not much gaming. I like it, but don't know XB1 so can't compare....

I do have a PS4 but only own three games: the latest Madden incarnation, Batman: Arkham Knight and FIFA 16. I saw Twitter rumors earlier today about an NCAA Football reboot and about crapped myself but turns out EA was just being cruel.

I do enjoy MMORPG's as well- but I'm old, and can't figure out the controller, and play most of them on the computer. I do miss World of Warcraft occasionally but I couldn't ever commit enough time to do anything other than the basic quests and grind.

XB1 looks the the name of a rifle or something.

As an update, apparently the XB1 is region locked (only 10 games available in China) and all of the DRM features they originally planned are activated in China. You'd have to be insane to buy the Xbox over here, so PS4 wins by default.

I'm starting to think that might be a good idea. Generally, the Chinese obsession with censorship has been mildly annoying but in this case it's a massive pain in the balls.

With the reverse compatibility on Xbox One, Snoop Dogg has been all over twitter trying to get them to make NCAA 14 reverse compatible, so there's hope.
