I don't think we need to blitz 90% of the time, but I don't want to play coverage 90% of the time either.  We produced pressure when when only rushing 3 or 4, so that is encouraging.

Kirby ran well when we didn't run much, he had that nice yards per carry average, but struggled in the game with a larger load, but that was also against a much better defense with Music City.  ...so it's up to you.

So I'm thinking we play and set our strategy according to the team we are playing to expose their weaknesses. We can run it that way for the first quarter of the season to see what we get from it, what do you think?

Makes sense to me, but I'm not going to be rattling off to you each teams strengths and weaknesses every week, so it will take some homework.

That I know, it's something I will take seriously. I know now what I have to do to get to the next step. Thank you coach, I'll let you get started on this weeks preparation.

------------------------

Ms. Bucks can I speak to our QB Charles Todd please

--------

Mr. Todd, you had one hell of a preseason. I called you in here to pick your brain about some things.

First, do you prefer to sling it or would you rather dink and dunk?

Second, do you prefer Craven as your slot or your number #2?

Accuracy is my strength, and making the smart throw, so I prefer to pick a defense a part vs. just dropping bombs.  I like Craven on the outside, I think he's a strong option.

Great information, that will help in setting our strategy going forward, We plan to play according to our opponent so knowing your preference is a plus? Thank You Mr. Todd. I'll let you go back to preparing for the upcoming week, we got a big first home game this week against KC to get our season off on the right foot.

-------

Ms. Bucks can you get me DC Goodman

-------

Coach we have a home game against KC, I believe they are starting a player I am very familiar with who once started for me in Orlando, I know what he is capable of which puts us in the best position. But we watched him play last year and in preseason. What defense would you dial up for an aging QB whose better days are behind him. Should we sit back with pressure from 3 or 4 guys and hope to pick him off or should we pressure him into making mistakes with a bunch of blitzes?

If you trust our corners to hold their own, then blitzing more will be good, but if they can't win one-on-one, we'll be setting ourselves up for failure.

The question coach Goodman is, do you trust our corners against a deep ball Qb whose better days are behind him?

-----

Ms. Bucks can you get me coach Graham

----

Coach, I was about to start wrapping things up until an ESPN news story broke, word came out that we might be able to acquire a particular player to play on the part of our team that needs a bit of help. The only issue is that it will probably cost a first round pick. I know you know who it is, it's all over the television and the news feed. Do you think it's worth kicking the tires on a possible acquisition with week 1 approaching?

Well, the tires were kicked coach but the asking price was just a bit to steep for what we are trying to build here but at least now I know that you are in for making big moves this year, that's good to know. Thanks Coach, I'll let you continue preparations as I start to lock things up.

-----

Ms. Bucks can you get me OC coach Harris

-----

Coach before I lock in I was wondering do you feel comfortable with our current offensive game plan. After watching the preseason and now knowing that Todd likes to dink and dunk his way down the field I got questions

First, Are you comfortable with our offense as it is?

second, considering we got decent play from our RB spot, would you like a more pass heavy offense or balanced?

S8 WEEK 1 RESULTS

(Eddie Sits)

Well, I'm sure you are waiting for my thoughts so here they are

first, Game one is always telling as to what we need to do better. Again, this team is learning how to play with one another and it will take time. Do I think we could have won this game, absolutely, hell, I thought we were going to win hands down. For the most part it looked that way but we have to learn how to finish and that is part of the growing pains, we'll get there.

Now, I saw some good, Craven once again is lighting it up helping us have a dangerous special teams attack. I think our WR core is solid. Our running game paces us, so that's good. I think our front line on defense put some pressure on the QB, I mean we got to him 3 times and from everywhere, and of course Rose got a sack of his own and we got 10 tackles from Gomez who is playing light out right now.

Ok, now the part as to why we lost. Interceptions are part of the game. When you throw the ball like Todd throws it, things will happen and I'll never point any fingers at mistakes when they come from an efficient attack. Mistakes are mistakes but we can't have interceptions turn into points for the other team. And we have to get better on third down, 3 for 10 is not a formula for success. For the most part our defense only gave up two TD's but we allowed them to get in position for what felt like a million field goals ontop of am extra point we missed that absolutely can't happen. I think we could have done a better job overall, we allowed way to many big plays to a QB who was looking for a job last week and didn't get enough big plays on our side.

These are all part of the growing process and the gelling process between guys who haven't played with one another. Week one is in the books boys and now we look forward to week 2 and we get another home game against Rapid City, a team most of you have already crowned. So we get to test ourselves. We know their strengths and weaknesses and will get ready accordingly.

I hear you but that is because we have such high expectations. We have to give this team time to gell. So tell me coach,

What is your assessment about our offensive strategy and how our offense performed this past week?

Any changes you think we should make immediately either to our depth chart or run/pass attack?

Most coaches in this league are going to tell you this answer, so please listen.

ONE WEEK does not give enough sample size to determine if we are doing things right or wrong.  Do these assessments quarterly, or something and you might get a better response.

Got you, I'll be more direct. I thought putting Craven in at the three would expose their linebackers which I thought was a weakness for them. Though he got a TD he only had 4 receptions for 37 yards, maybe he would be better at the two, your thoughts.

OK coach, thank you for your patience. I am just trying to put this team in it's best position and this is a learning moment for me. Normally this is where I would change something and everyone would be wondering "What the hell" But I vowed to be a different GM so I will take your advice and keep it the same. Thank you coach. Before you go coach let me ask,

Did you notice any player that might not be in the best of moods that maybe a positive meeting with them could improve their their attitude and lift their spirits.

Ms. Bucks can I speak to WR E. Craven

Craven, first let me say with what I have seen in preseason and week 1, if you keep this high level of play up you are going to show the HIFL what we already know, Earl Craven is one of the best play makers in the league. Your play on special teams is nothing short of brilliant. That type play is going to take Seattle far. I'm glad you are with us. If there is anything you need just let me know.

(Eddie walks into the locker room)

Gentlemen, as each week passes we grow stronger. Not only as individuals but as a team. This week no one except us expects us to beat the the team coming into our house this week, Rapid City.

(Eddie walks to the board and puts up a piece of paper)

That right there gentlemen was an editorial before the season by one Rockwell Locke, he like many predicted us to finish dead last. Well gentlemen, the team we play this week they predicted to finish first.

I have always had one motto and it has worked,

Let's go shock the world!

 GAME 2 vs RC

- Player Rotation: Mostly Starters
- Tempo:Coaches Decision
-Run/Pass : Coach Decision
-Blitz Ratio: Coach Decision

- Depth Chart Changes:

Well, here here we are again and I guess all I can say is the same thing that is bothering me right now is the same thing giving me hope, being right there and not finishing. Look, our D-line did a bang up job of holding their running back under 100 yards. As a whole the defense only gave up two TD's and in this league as long as you don't make any mistakes you should be able to win with the other team only scoring two TD's but when you pepper in a barrage of Field goals, well there's the issue. We did a better job in the turnover department, we did better on third downs and as much as we like to control the pace, they made the plays when needed. We played a balanced game but just not an efficient enough game. When a team is 18/34 in completions we are going to punt a lot. We got to do a better job getting the ball down the field and giving our QB the targets and we have to get our RB up to at least 4 1/2 to 5 yards per carry. We do those two things and holding a team to a few TD's and some field goals shouldn't be the difference in winning and losing for us. We should be able to score with the best of them but that comes with being comfortable in your system and continuing to play hard for one another. It's part of the process, part of the growing pains, we'll get there. I can see the growth these last two games. They're getting it. We'll be fine. I trust my coaches to let me know when there are concerns. Like Coach Graham tells me, it's still to early to tell. Next week we go one more home game against Michigan before we go on the road. Michigan is another team like us. They have a lot of talent and have found a way to get their first win. Like them, I look forward to putting together a game plan to give these fans their first win.

Our run game is struggling and so is our pass defense, but this team is an expansion club and is going to have big holes.

Ms Bucks can you get me Agent Leventhal and Molina please.

---

Good evening, Mr. Leventhal and Ms. Molina, I know we haven't had the best relationship in the past and I accept all blame for my past erratic and questionable behavior. It was never personal I just became consumed with wanting to win that I didn't think things out. Well I am here in Seattle and I want to start fresh and I ask for one more opportunity to work with you and your clients. I think we should move on and I am ready to do future dealings. I now understand that we have here in this great league is not about one person and clearly isn't about me. I think for our future in this league and the future of the business, I hope you can look passed my mistakes and once again allow a business relationship to blossom. Thank you for your time and I hope you consider a future business relationship.

Ms. Bucks can you get me QB Todd please

---

Good evening Todd, I wanted to catch up with you as we go into our last home game before we hit the road. I wanted to pick your brain. In game one you were 21 for 38 and in game two you were 18 for 34. When I see that I can't help but wonder, maybe you can help me out. Why do you think there is such a gap between attempts and completions?

Is it lack of targets, Dropped passes or offensive the game plan?

I don't have a cool magical answer to give you. I don't know what the problem has been, new team, new players, getting to know my receivers and my offensive play caller... could just be that I ate too much popcorn and the ball slips off my fingers.

OK, that is what I thought, it's good to know it's just a learning curve thing and not a mechanical thing. Thanks Todd, I'll let you get back to practice.

Ms. Bucks can you get me coach Goodman and Coach Harris

-----

Gentlemen, I called you in here to let you know that you have my upmost support and confidence in what you coaches are doing. I know there's a learning curve when playing with a new team and players that are coming together for the first time. So I want to ask;

Is there anyone on either side of the ball that can benefit from extra practice drills?

Do you think this team would benefit if we maybe did something for them like inviting them and all their families to a dinner to bring this team closer before we go on the road next week?

Possibly, It couldn't hurt at least.  As for extra practice time, I think we're working them pretty hard as it is.

Look, Iím not going to lie, winning makes everything easier, itís better to be 1-2 then 0-3,  but thatís not to say itís time to relax. I think we are starting to put it together. We did what we have been doing every week we just did it more efficiently. Craven got hurt early and guys stepped up. Chriscoe showed everyone why he is our number 1 receiver. We also had some good contributions from Irwin and our TE Howerton. We once again got a steady and balanced performance from our Running game, Kirby is starting to heat up. Heís finding the holes. Frizzell had amazing kicking day hitting one beyond 50 yards which was awesome to watch. But letís put the white hat on this weekís real heroes, our defense. I mean what can you say 9 sacks, 2 interceptions. That defensive performance was the best I have been a part of, Iím proud to call them our defense.  But now we must not let this get to our head. We need to build on it because we are yet to control the time of possession in any of our games and once again we did a poor job converting on third downs. Still in all a motivating win, a good one to leave the fans of Seattle with as we now travel to Tombstone who are 2-1 and just picked up a good win against a good Alabama team. Now we will test ourselves on the road.
