UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENCY RULES

UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENCY

Starting during the S7 Offseason (leading into Season 8) and beyond Free Agency will work with a new mechanic.

TIME MANAGEMENT

Just like ERFA there will be a time management system for UFA.

Each GM will have "36 hours" of time to manage during the initial UFA period.

As a GM you will have to decide how that time will be used when approaching your players who are now free agents.
Each form of communication will cost a certain amount of time, and each will have a different effect.   Those options are:

Text Message to Agent - (2 hours)
This option is a simple PM with no other information other than the years, salary, and PR on your contract offer.  Any other dialog other than very standard pleasantries will result in moving up to the next level of offers. You will receive a "message received" and will rarely get an immediate signing with this option, and will have to wait until the sim progresses from one phase to the next in FA. (there are 5 cycles/phases in free agency after the draft).

Phone Call to Agent - (4 hours)
This option allows you to pm an offer to the agent, along with your vision for that player on the team (sales pitch for the deal).  You may get a counter offer with this option.

In-Stadium Meeting - (6 hours)
This option allows you to bring the player in to the teams facility, give a tour of the building, training facilities, and of course the hall of champions.  This will give you a face to face with the player and his agent, but in your teams home.  You can also bring in multiple players (each using its own time) together to attempt to sell them on playing together. Your chances of counter offers and negotiations improve with this option.

In home visit with Player and Agent - (8 hours +)
This option allows you to travel to the players home to meet with him, giving you an even stronger platform to make your sales pitch, showing the player how important he is to your franchise.  Unlike in ERFA were 8 hours is the maximum you can do, you can extend this visit to show that you really want to get your message across to the player and his agent.  Again, your chances of signing the player, getting a counter offer, and/or negotiating a deal improve with this option.

Once Free Agency begins, you will be responsible for monitoring your time. If you exceed the 36 hours allowed by the league during this period, you are subject to a fine or loss of a draft pick.

Any player you made an offer to (in any capacity) that has not accepted the deal or had the deal sent to the league office will have to be recontacted by one of these means. So manage your time wisely.

After your time has expired you "may" receive extra time or be allowed to send text offers in (this is not a certainty, as I am still playing with the magic number for how many hours you get to make it challenging but not impossible.)

You may also spend PR on your in-stadium and in-home visits at your own discretion to attempt to woo and wow your targets.

If you run out of free agent hours, you will have to wait until the free agency period ends (it will be announced).

At that time you will be able to call agents into your office just like you do mid-season, to sign a player who is still a free agent.
