He痴 competing for a starting spot. George Vu is our CB1 - nothing else is set in stone with incoming rookies Jackson and Pitts. Paulson definitely has a shot at CB2 but I知 going to stop short of guaranteeing him that position.

Blue let痴 get in touch with JC

覧覧覧

JC happy to say I can raise my initial offer to match the salary Jones was making as our backup last year at 1 million dollars. 1 year 1 million that enough to get Cardale back in black and gold?

Then I wish Cardale the best of luck in Las Vegas and look forward to him being marketed in the Alabama area if last year was any indication.

Contract has been sent in to the league office.

----------------

Blue can we get Bobby Shapiro on the line?

---------------

Bobby it looks like QB Dak Prescott isn't on a roster yet - and Cardale Jones has found himself a home in Las Vegas - what would you say to Dak joining our QB squad at 1 year 1 million.

PR CAMPAIGNS

1 Million Jamie Ortega - Fastest Man Alive
Jamie Ortega is standing on a dirt road and in the background you can faintly see the Jordan Brand Stadium in the background.  Walking up to him Curt Robles, 添ou know I知 retired now right?  I知 the head of the union now. Jamie responds, 斗ook I just need to know for myself.  No cameras. No publicity. Just me, you and the road.  Curt looks up Jamie from head to toe and shakes his hand. 添ou know I am kind of curious myself so which direction we running in?  Jamie points to the west and down at the road is a flag marker.  典hat痴 about 100 yards down with a motion capture camera in case it gets too close to call.  First man to cross the finish line wins.  Jamie unzips his track jacket to reveal his trademark 鉄uperman logo.  Curt kneels to tie his shows Jamie looks down and notices a certain lightning bolt logo on his running shoes as he pans upward, we see a smirk on Curt Robles face.  徹n your mark Robles says. 敵et set Ortega replies. They both shout GO as the commercial fades to black

1 Million Jamie Ortega - Jordan Brand 典he Jamie Ortega Experience
Commercial advertising a Jumpman office being built in the Alabama area that will contain a VR 迭oller Coaster mimicking being Jamie Ortega in the pocket.  The headphones and VR headset will mimic a football helmet with reflective eye shield.  An overweight middle-aged man will be ask if he is ready for the experience and will be smug and cocky.  The actual VR experience will mimic an 80-yard TD run that begins as a pass play that breaks down.  The rider is strapped in and the machine will turn him toss him and move forward with great speed.  The ride will include jukes, spins, jumps over tackling defenders and even being upended but ultimately landing in an endzone.  With the ride over the helmet will be removed and they ask the middle-aged man if he enjoyed his experience he simply responds by trying to catch his breath at first and then ultimately crying and bawling loudly. The REAL Jamie Ortega will come into view and look at the camera and just smile.

250k Pegasus Williams - Myth or Legend
Local Commercial - Football highlights of a young child in pee wee football avoid tackles and outrunning players from what looked like a sure tackle for loss.  The same player will now be shown older in pop warner doing the same.  We fast forward the video to high school football and then eventually into the pro痴 where presumably the same player keeps doing unimaginable athletic feats.  All the while narration plays over the top of it 展hat is the difference between legend and myth? Truth and fiction?  What happens when the mind cannot comprehend what the eyes see?  Finally, we see a practice taking place in the Alabama Nighthawks facility where a defender has clear cut tackle but somehow misses it and Pegasus escapes for a big gain.  Confused he looks up to see Pegasus in the end zone with the bright hot Alabama sun coming down for a few seconds it looks like bright white angelic wings are coming from his shoulder pads.  The defender blinks and looks again and they are gone.  The narration ends Maybe seeing is believing the screen cuts to black with and advertisement for purchasing game tickets and season ticket passes.

250k Oliver Giles - Jumpman Footwear
Oliver Giles will have added to his Jumpman Footwear by introducing the Giles Slides in conjunction for his previously released Football cleats which will be sold in all major department stores and online retailers.  The slides will be customized to include his jersey number and have a picture of him catching a football on the bottom of the slide.  Jumpman presents the first run of Jumpman Giles Slides Ones.

250k Noah Rose - Rose Enterprises Security
Local Commercial where Noah Rose is the CEO of a corporate security firm.  We go across his building as we see the security trainees being trained in a very similar way to offensive linemen.  We have Noah Rose talking with a group of investors of Asian investors.  One room we see large men being trained to defend smaller individuals against threats that are done hilariously like large animal attacks, a horde of teenage girls which proves to be more dangerous than the animal attacks, and a large military tank.  One training scenario will get out of hand and threaten the group of investors until Noah Rose steps in and prevents them from being harmed 鄭bove all else we believe one thing.  Protection. Noah Rose states as he pulls out his business card with a rose on the front and a number on the back. The number on the back of the business card will be for purchasing game tickets and season ticket passes.

250k Earl Clark - The Iceberg
Local advertisement playing in the Southeastern part of the United States. Earl Clark is being fitted for his first Alabama Nighthawks gear where the locker room looks to be located on an iceberg.  The narration will talk about icebergs and how everyone can see the summit much like making the High Impact Football League.  The camera scrolls down to show the rest of the iceberg as well as different areas where Earl Clark is working and practicing hard.  Different rooms show him either on the field, in an office watching film, all ranging from his time in pee wee, youth, pop warner, high school, college.  The narration will continue 妬t takes years to become an overnight success and it will take years to stay there.  The camera will zoom back in to the summit where Earl Clark will already be suited and booted in his pro gear.

250k George Vu - HIFL Family
This is an advertisement for the High Impact Football league that will play throughout the season exclusively online on youtube prior to videos being loaded.  The narration will be about family.  The narration will begin, 展e all have two families the one we池e born with. And the one we choose. After the word choose quick cuts featuring George Vu making defensive plays on games and practice fields.  鄭nd like family we want the best for each other, we complete, and occasionally we fight. A few more quick cuts exchange on the screen with George Vu battling a WR for position and ultimately shoving each other around. 釘ut we池e there for each other. Win. Lose. We池e family. Till the end. We cut to Vu being down on the ground and a teammate picking him up but instead of a uniform being on it痴 a gold jacket wearing Hall of Fame WR Burton Tibbetts.  George Vu is now off the field and in front of the Hall of Fame inducting his brother as the screen fades away and the HIFL logo appears on the screen.

250k Demian Mantalban - Tecate Be Bold
Commercial that will play exclusively in Latin markets and internationally in M騙ico. This commercial will center around Tecate痴 釘e Bold campaign.  The black eagle will fly over a training ground in the middle of an open field in Alabama.  Demian Mantalban will be training by using older worn-down equipment.  The black eagle will land on a tackling sled and it will lock eyes with Demian.  Demian will look back at the eagle tilt his head forward and out of view.  He will bring his head back up and we see him wearing eye black stickers with the phrase 釘E and 釘OLD under each eye.

1.5 Million Cerberus Bruce Wilkinson, Timothy Cobbs, Phillip Sanderson - This is Sportscenter Three痴 Company
This Sportscenter commercial will be centered around the difficulties Bruce Wilkinson, Phillip Sanderson, and Timothy Cobbs have working at ESPN headquarters as they are given a special outfit where they are all conjoined to fit The Cerberus theme.  The three men will talk about the difficulties of living up to the nickname during their off season 妬nternship. They have trouble fitting through doors finding a place to sit during lunch break and having enough room to work at a cubicle due their massive size.  They also try to be friendly with everyone as they have huge welcoming smiles on their faces but everyone just instinctively runs away in fear as if they were a scrambling QB.  We catch up to them ending their shift by taking off the three man jersey/shoulderpad combo and can finally relax as This is Sportscenter appears on the screen.

MUSICAL LICENSES

1 - War Pigs - Black Sabbath - The air raid sirens will continue to play when the Nighthawks gain a first down.  The song will finally erupt in its chorus once the TD is scored.

2. - The End - Jim Johnston - This is the Alabama Nighthawks victory song played with the lead in the final two minutes.

GM Pancho, the league has fined us $1MM in each of the next two seasons for going into training camp without a full roster.

We are also forced to forfeit a roster spot, so we will only have a 52-man roster, but we also have to carry 4 DE's so we need to make some moves.  The $1MM penalty put us $500K over the salary cap, so we have to get in compliance before Pre-Season starts, or we'll be subject to the "over the salary cap" penalty which would really cripple our team.

Our PR was amazing, fans loved it as usual....

Anthony Campanelli is very unhappy with us because of our mishandling of the Eric Kilgore contract, and of course he represents Pegasus Williams, Noah Rose, & Lloyd Graff.

Thank you kindly Blue - Is the press room ready? Good.  Just finished sending out this tweet and I'm headed there now ...

------

Thank you members of the media for coming to this open press conference.  We're just about to get ready for pre season except for a few corrections I am needing to make.  I am sure that you all saw my tweet before coming out here and while that does somewhat address what I have to do I am prepared for your questions.  Yes David you may have the first question

Use three words to classify how your off-season went and explain.

Well David, I think I'll say each other word and then explain why I chose that word and if you have a follow up question we'll come back to you.

Punchy First the off season kicks off with us just having lost the Impact Bowl.  Losing a game never feels good but losing the biggest game of the season well words in the English language don稚 do it justice.  Then immediately following that we have the retirement announcements of Curt Robles and Burton Tibbetts.  I have to admit I知 used to taking shots as the GM of the Alabama Nighthawks but that three punch combo left me out on my feet.

Infuriating Just even remembering the GM summit gets my blood boiling.  The opinions I heard that day even before it all went to hell was infuriating.  Jim Zebow didn稚 come close to having the full story.  I知 embarrassed by some of the comments other GM痴 made but even more embarrassed that they couldn稚 see their own faults costing us a seat at the table.  Without that seat at the table we specifically I got screwed in the process.  We lost a lot of tools in our toolkit and the work I had done with Jordan and the Players Tribune to increase our own revenue was taken away through no fault of our own.

Hopeful But out of that off season comes a new season.  We have an influx of young players looking to make a name for themselves and cement their careers here in the High Impact Football League.  Seeing the smiling faces and dream filled eyes of some of the rookies reminds you why we play the damn game in the first place.  It痴 something we love totally, completely and dedicate our lives to.  So as one chapter ends another begins.

Yes Margaret you may go next

Coming out of training camp, where do you rank your team in the division, in the conference, and in the league?

We are the team to beat in the East always and forever.  It doesn稚 matter who is on the roster because that black and gold bird will always be on the helmet and that means something. The only reason I知 not saying in the league is because I respect San Antonio痴 win in the Impact Bowl.  They always say, to be the man you have to beat the man. We get the lucky chance to do in Week One.  And we plan on it.

Tony I'll let you ask the next question

Do you have any position battles planned for the preseason?  Which jobs are up for grabs and what do you hope to gain from the preseason games?

I certainly don稚 think the depth chart beneath the starters is locked in.  We致e got a mix of veterans and 砥nproven talent.  I only say unproven because it hasn稚 been showcased but we can see it in practice and on our film.  TE is definitely a position where we have three different players with three different skill sets and we池e trying to see which of the young players is stepping up and taking the starters role.

And next question to Marco

List one victory and one failure for you personally this off-season as the GM of this franchise.
I think it痴 clear that as a failure being fined by the league is not a good look.  I致e issued a formal apology directly to Mr. Anthony Campanelli and Mr. Eric Kilgore because my situation has directly affected their ability to feed their families.  I don稚 take this failure lightly because Anthony was one of those agents, I considered almost family with the relationship we had built and now I have betrayed him, his client, and his trust.  I also failed because it will affect another player on my roster and another agent relationship when I cut said player all due to my own blunder.  I just hope I can be an example to others to ensure they don稚 make that mistake because a small clerical error has the effect to cause a lot of windfall.

Now as a victory I would point to our ability to draft twice in the first round without giving up a first round pick.  Losing Douglas Freedman and David Lipscomb hurt us depth wise but at positions we were good at and let us address the retirement of Curt Robles and Burton Tibbetts.  We池e still far off from recovering from the loss of their talent but we feel that Pegasus and Earl will have prosperous careers here in Alabama.  Given the right amount of investment and nurturing we feel they can develop into quality football players and men.

Are there any further questions?

"You say you lost your revenue streams with Jordan Brand and the Players Tribune through no fault of your own.  Are you saying the other 23 GMs all have fault in the failed GM Summit but you yourself are not to blame in any capacity?"

No one is clear of blame so it's not fair I paint myself totally innocent. There's always something to be done and I could have done more to TRY and convince the other GM's of their follies. Also not all other 23 GM's share the blame equally.  I look at GM Bone, GM Justin, and GM Eli as well as a few others.  Other GM's such as Gravedigger and Powers were aware of their respective situation and tried to help - and to give them even more credit - helped even after we were shut out as was reported. That's something I didn't do.

Anthony - I致e apologized publicly in multiple ways and now I知 doing it in person. I literally told Noah Rose to sign with us because I致e always done right by your clients. There痴 no excuse for the harm I致e done your client or your business. I壇 like to come up with a solution though for you and Eric. I just need to know if you are willing to hear me out.

As far as I知 concerned my word is bond and I still owe your client 500k. Without violating further league rules I wanted to know if there was another way to get that money to you, Mr. Campanelli or to Mr. Kilgore.

Certainly the simplest way would be to enter into a contract but I fear that ship has sailed. So I wanted to know if we had other avenues for the money to be spent. So at the very least Mr. Kilgore and yourself would not be stiffed out of an income.

Nothing we can do outside of signing a contract Paisan, but if we do it again, it better go to the league office IMMEDIATELY.  Also, you're gonna owe me one, big time.

Of course Mr. Campanelli, of course!

As you'll soon read about in the news I'm making the moves to clear everything up and get Eric Kilgore on our roster.  Based on my calculations I'll have some extra cap space so it looks like I'll be able to increase my previous offer. Think of it as amends for Eric's and your pain and suffering.  So instead of the 1 year 500k that we had previously agreed on that I screwed up I am going to offer Eric a 1 year 750k contract.

Just waiting on my fellow GM's to confirm the moves Mr. Campanelli

The paperwork is with the league and properly filed now.  Thank you for your patience with me Mr. Campanelli.

-------------------

Blue can we get Coach Rudino back to my office

-------------------

That was way more work than I wanted to do before any of the pre season games.  That was a costly blunder.  I'm leaning towards playing mostly backups in these two pre season games even with San Antonio lined up week 1. I want to see given enough snaps how the depth behind our starts would play.  It's not set in stone so if you'd rather split the games between backups and starters I would understand but I'm leaning towards backups for both games.

I think mostly backups is the way to go man. There is still a chance starters get a few reps, and thats fine with me.

Glad to be on the same page coach.  I'm just going to get some logistics stuff done before i finalize the depth charts after our trades and signings.  Thanks for your time Coach Rudino.

Excellent let痴 get those locked in and begin the preparations. Before you begin that though please have Stephen Greene come into my office.

覧覧

Stephen it sure took you awhile to get here but it certainly wasn稚 for a lack of trying on my part. Third time proved to be a charm for us all.  I know we were your preferred destination but what prompted you to want out of Orlando and come to Alabama. Just wanting to get to know you more on an individual level rather than letting the media tell me.

Thank you people for coming to this Alabama Nighthawks post pre season press conference.  I'll just go ahead and open the floor to all questions and we'll call upon you once a hand is raised.  I see my first hand already.  Sarah Spain at ESPN go ahead.

Who stood out to you from your two preseason games and did anyone fail to impress you?

Jamie Ortega was very impressive and while that may be old news to some I find new ways to be amazed.  1 game 9 passes 372 yards.  An equal amount of praise goes to Thomas Saunders, Trey Aleman, Earl Clark, and Gregory Barbour for getting themselves open, catching the ball, and often taking it to the house!  Also a big congrats to the offensive line in the first game for not allowing a single sack and for only allowing one sack in the second game. Also Chris Blevins - 17 tackles in two games.  The Tacklebot definitely comes as advertised.

Yes. Frank from The Athletic

We saw a lot of big plays in the pre-season, do you think this is a case of starters playing against back ups, early-season rust, or do you predict a season of explosive plays?

Anything and everything is possible with the changing of rosters and adding of talent to this league.  Just because someone is not labeled as a starter doesn't mean that they don't have talent so I'm taking an optimistic view on this.  This league is must watch TV.  Don't blink or you'll miss it just got added to our catchphrases.

Yes. Rich from ... THAT ... network

Did anyone earn or lose a starting job in pre-season?  If so who and why?

Based on our reports coming out of camp we felt Albert Cheatham was doing extremely well.  Given the trade that took place we felt it was best to place him as our CB2 on the depth chart and those efforts were rewarded with a pick six in the first pre season game. We still more to look over heading into Week One but we feel we definitely have the right roster to compete in this league.

Yes Pablo from ESPN

Has your opinion changed of your team after pre-season?  Care to make a final prediction on your teams regular season record?

There's still a lot up in the air.  We will rely on some rookies at key skill positions as well as some veterans that are new to our schemes and verbiage.  All that takes time to learn and the team has to grow together.  That being said I trust the players we've taken to be players and our coaches can sure coach their ass off.  Barring injuries and everything going well I feel 12-4 is a fair assesment.

Ahh yes Maria from Galavision

Discuss your week one opponent, and what you need to see from your team to insure a win.

Why not open the season with an Impact Bowl rematch.  Different rosters and different coaching staffs still has this game up in the air.I love it tough.  Right out of the gate we get to test ourselves to what many consider the best in the league.  I've been seeing reports that have the Knights as favorites not only to go back to the Impact Bowl but to repeat as champions. If that's the case, allow me to be the first to say - "I don't think so Tim."

Are there any further questions?

Its my favorite time of the season, Panch... Opening Day!  The chance to make believers out of the doubters, come out of the gates proverbial guns blazing, and taking bets on how many tackles that Jamie Ortega breaks on his way to the end zone.

Right you are coach. All off season I致e thought of nothing else but the Knights. To see them glorified and to see us become an afterthought. Pick and R word. Revenge. Redemption. Retribution. Either way the shoe fits.

I didn稚 see anything in the pre season that would have shown me cause for concern. Loved what I saw out of our receivers especially that first game. Now depth chart wise you disagree with me at all about placing Cheatham as our CB2 or you want to throw one of the young lions in?

I like that he has history on our roster with Coach Knott and his scheme and I feel that familiarity gives him the edge at the beginning of the season. We値l see if Greedy or Sticky pick up on it more during the season. I was wondering coach if you wanted to work some packages where Ortega and Pate are on the field at the same time or would something like that prove to be too complicated.

I did see in our 4-3 defense I still had Paulson listed as the CB2 - let痴 make that Albert Cheatham so let痴 make that change.
