Your performance warranted it against a superb Toloyo team, so I have every faith your hard work will be rewarded this week. Iíll let you get back to prepare for game 2.

Pete Laski please.

Mr Laski, great performance in game 3 this week which ensured we brought something back from Tokoyo with us. We have some vital stretch coming up these next few weeks and Iím looking for you as my captain to really help motivate and get the best out of batters and keep that number 1 spot.

Despite the series loss, boss... we're feeling good in the clubhouse. We know we're the team everyone has to play there "A" game against, so we'll be ready to equal that competitive drive. Oh yeah!

Discuss the latest series. What needs to improve, if anything?

A great series to really get over the disappointment of Tokyo. We batted well, pretty much everyone contributing with runs. We pitched well, Omar Nunez showing just now rich our pen is with a wonderful performance in game 2. We fielded well, the combination of Shelly-Morales-Mandy producing 4 double plays. A great, all-round team effort I cannot fault. The fact we lead the conference but donít feature once in the league leaders board just goes to show how much of a team effort our performances have been this season. Itís that team spirit thatís going to keep the success going through a tough number of weeks coming up.

What are your thoughts on the league punishments thus far? Fair or unfair?

I would say they have been fair. Players need to understand they canít be having fisticuffs in the middle of games like some hillbilly off Jerry Springer. That kind of Iíll discipline reflects bad on the league, and is a poor role model for children.

Talk about at least one piece of news.

I am delighted to see Billy Finkle gain the player of the coastal batter of the month award this month. The guy is a wonderful personality in the dressing room, an outstanding athlete and a future leader who I am delighted to have here.

Elsewhere, it was disappointing to see yet another brawl.

Talk about your Week 13 opponent

What a series we have in store this week. The two conference leaders going toe to toe, showing just how exciting the PBL is. When you look at the stats, the teamsheets, the individual players, there is very little to separate the sides, and the series could go down to one small detail, one error, one peice of individual brilliance. So far this season we have fallen short when coming up against the elite teams, losing to both Tokyo and London, so this series is a chance to really show we have what it takes this year.

Great stuff coach letís show Virginia Beach what weíve got.

Billy Finkle,

Mr Finkle, just wanted to congratulate you on your coastal batter of the month award. Itís great to see your terrific performances have not gone unnoticed in the media and Iím delighted to have a guy like you here in golden state. We are gonna need that form to continue into the business end of the season, particularly a team like Virgina Beach, but I have no doubt youíll continue to show the PBL just how good you are.

Discuss the latest series. What was your favorite moment of the series?

A great series against quality opposition that we were once again unfortunate to be on the losing side of. We started positively, but struggled to hold onto it as the tide pitchers stifled us. My favourite moment was grabbing a win in the final game, denying a clean sweep.

Do you think PBL.com had the award winners right?

Right now, yes. But thereís plenty left in the season, and injuries, loss of form or a string of outstanding performances could easily change this.

Talk about at least one other piece of news.

Itís great to see the Tide vs Bayhawks game picking up so much media attention. Both teams have been performing superbly this season, and I hope the increased television ratings shone a spotlight on how good this league is and continue to gather more support.

Talk about your Week 14 opponent

This week we host Boise, another excellent team whoís impressive 24-15 records shows they know how to win. They have some excellent in hitters like Merico and Estrada, as well as pitchers who know how deny opponents. Once again we will have to be at our best, but with the players we have and the support we generate At Googlepark, I am confident in the win.

I think your right coach. Hopefully it will be a different outcome next time round.

Despite another narrow loss to a top team theyíre seems be positives to take. Bringing in Shelley seems to have really shored up the 1B-SS-2B fielding with an outstanding triple play in the first game. Batting wise weíre looking dangerous from 1-9 and he return of Sais will really shore up the pen.

How are the guys feeling? Any concerns in the locker?

Discuss the latest series. Did any player suprise your team or the opponents team?

I canít deny my disappointment on losing a series at home to a divisional rival, and to have lost a second series in a row, but with such disappointment comes opportunity. An opportunity for the guys to show they are still the team to beat in this conference. An opportunity to cement that number one spot in the division. An opportunity to seek a path to a rematch with Virginia beach.

Talk about at least one piece of news

Im disappointed to see Virginia beach attempt to gain financial benefit from what is a pretty rude example of poor sportsmanship and the opposite of Ďwinning with graceí. Although I agree with the leagues decision not to enforce punishment, I think it sends a bad message to children to plaster such obscenities on a t shirt. I look forward to seeing their GMís take on it all.

Talk about your Week 15 opponent

San Diego and a chance at redemption. Theyíve been GMless ever since GM Gooch jumped ship and travelled east but that doesnít mean we will be treating them lightly. They caught us cold earlier in the season, routing us 10-3 in game 1, have some talented players with nothing to lose and a point to prove. We will need play smart, focused and aggressive baseball, and a clean sweep will get us back on the right track.

Normally I would say the series loss was a result of such a high strung series against the Tide, but that Boise team can play ball too.

Donít get me wrong Boise are a great side, my disappointment is more a sign of my high expectations and my belief in this side. I feel they gave it all but by game 3 they may have been running on empty.

With the business end of the season fast approaching is there anyone in particular looking like they could do with a rest. I know we now have Boise sniffing around our arseholes and canít afford to slip up, but if people need a break now is probably the time.

Well our team is fairly young so perhaps a rest isnít necessary. The only position I considered was giving Stockton and game off and perhaps giving Hernandez a run out. Although due to joining the PBL party late, my knowledge on Hernandez is minimal. Whatís he like?

Discuss the latest series. What player on your team is your unsung hero?

A great clean sweep and bragging rights in California. Itís sometimes tricky to go into a series as the overwhelming favourite, but we did what we needed to do and ensured that we bounced back after two series defeats. Now we can concentrate on catching up Virginia Beach with our goal to go into the post season with the best overall record.

Talk about at least one piece of news.

Itís sad to see things take a negative turn out in Austin. GM Digger is a fantastic GM who brings a wealth of experience, great innovation and a passion to the game. Before their owner does anything unwise, I think he needs to look to San Diego and their fortunes since losing their GM. There isnít a conveyer belt of great GMís out there so donít give up yours so easily.

Talk about your Week 16 opponent

We travel to Mexico City looking to build some momentum heading into the business end of the season. Obviously everyone will talk about Cruz, who is of course a huge threat and one of the best hitters in the league, but other guys like Schermen and Arriola are no pushovers, our bullpen will have to be at its best to ensure victory.

Brandon Route please,

Mr Route, incredible effort in the first game with that homer in the 11th inning. That really set things off for the series and gave the crowd a real moment to saviour. Itís great having a fantastic hitter like yourself coming in at 6th and your ability will be vital in the coming weeks.

Discuss the latest series

An important win against a great side. We contained Cruz for two out of three games. Unfortunately he did what he does best in the third game stopping a clean sweep but all in all a satisfying series, particularly the shut out in game 2.

What record are you most looking forward to seeing broken (if any)?

Ricky Medina notching his 11th and 12th win

Will you be resting any players down the stretch to assure the team is healthy for the postseason?

Not until we have home advantage in the post season. The googlepark faithful deserve such and thereís no better stadium to host one.

Talk about your Week 17 opponent.

This week we travel to austin, without a GM but fresh off a morale boosting sweep against New Orleans. They will be high in confidence and ready to fight for a wildcard spot, so we will have to make sure we offer them nothing.

Well my plan was to promote Allen and use Finnigan as short stop and take McNulty out for a game but the maths isnít working nicely to bringing Allen up so Iím gonna scrap that idea.

Iíll play Finnigan in place of Shelley for games 1 and 3, and give Hayashi a run in game 2. How does that sound? What type of hitter is Hayashi?

That sounds fine... Hayashi was our starting second basemen before we drafted Morales. He has a little bit of pop in his bat, but don't expect too much out of him with his bat. Pretty solid with his glove though.

Discuss the latest series

A solid win against a very good side in Austin. A shame we couldnít pick up the sweep and guarantee first spot in the division but some great baseball none the less.

As you head into the final week of the regular season. What is your own biggest personal takeaway from the season?

How lucky I am to have inherited  such a professional, skilful and hard working group here in California. It may sound corny, but every guy here has contributed to the season, they have remained focused, shown tremendous team spirit and that has got them into the position theyíre in. Theyíve done the fans, the management and themselves proud.

Talk about your Week 18 opponent. Who is the one player you know is going to show up for your club this week?

This week we are up against a real inform team in Tokyo. To be honest I think itís the perfect preparation for the playoffs, and one last chance to lay down a marker and show we are the team to beat. In terms of players, itís hard to look beyond Ricky Medina. The guy has pitched impeccably from week 1 and itís so important for the team to have someone who can give us a positive result to kick off each week. I have every confidence he will pitch Beautifully and give us the best possible start to the week.

Alright, chances of shooting ahead of Virginia Beach are low, but we can make sure Tokyo stays out of the playoffs.

Yeah although chances are low, I want to make sure we hit the playoffs in high spirits and a victory over Tokyo would be just the thing? I donít think thereís anything to change this week. Let Shelly rest fully.

No changes

Congratulations, you've made it this far. What will it take to continue this run?

Thank you very much but itís the guys on the field who deserve all the congratulations. Itís been a long season, but our consistency has got us where we are. We have played well without every being explosive so now is the time to put it all on the line and give it our all. It will take great performances from all 11 batsmen and every member of that ball pen to ensure we can make it past a very good Bloise side and to continue our dream of lifting the premier cup.

Who was your MVP this season?

Hard to pick one really. I know thatís easy to say but if you look at individual statistics Golden state donít feature 1st in many because it has been such an all round team effort. With the ball id have to say Ricky Medina while with the Bat Billy Finkle has been excellent, Pete Laski has been explosive and Morales has had a stellar rookie season.

Do you feel the lower seeded team getting to open the series at home in Game 1 fair before the higher seed gets to host Game 2 and a if necessary Game 3?

I think itís the fairest way to do it as any team who has made it to the playoffs deserves at least one home game in front of their home support.

What will it take to advance to the Championship Series?

For all three starting pitchers to pitch consistently, accurately, and show their full repertoire. For the relief pitches to be able to come in and not let up from ball one. For the closers to thrive under pressure. To take our chances with the bat, get bat on ball consistently, to show great control, steal bases and punish anything in the slot. To get our double plays, hold our chances and omit any errors in the field. Do not leave anything for chance, to not leave that pitch thinking we could have given more.
