Unfortunately, the bossman is on his annual duck hunting trip. If you're content in what the roster is you can go ahead and lock-in for the season or you can make any moves that you wish to make. All up to you, sir.

I'd like to think of myself as a tactical manager. Like to find weaknesses to exploit and play to our strengths. I like to be super aggressive on the base paths to manufacture runs and to do that you also need to have a strong hitting team.

As for our staff, Zeigler is a great pitching coach that works well with getting our pitchers zoned in and accurate. The plus is he's very happy in his role and has zero ambitions of being a manager. Pvan is an outstanding hitting coach that has contributed to the stars we've produced here. If there is one knock on him is that he struggles to deal with the younger players, but the vets love him.

I'd say our strength is in our pitching staff. It's good I say. As for weaknessess, we lack some talent outside of Tafolla and C-Rod. Allen will become someone we can use, but he needs more room to develop. We need to find some contributors on offense though. As for lingering thoughts, you know I was pondering this while I was on the pot earlier. If an ambulance is on its way to save someone, and it runs someone over, does it stop to help them?

"In truth, nothing is new. Every idea has been had before, every problem identified, and every opportunity presented. Some times people take advantage, and some times they don't. As you are well aware, the PBL is not the first baseball league around here. It's been done before. It remains to be seen whether this "new"er league is an "improvment" on the formula. Although I am optimistic this league is.

I don't think we have particularly strong leadership types on the team, but Grimes, Rodriguez, and Andrade are decent choices for the captain position.

"Thank you, thank you. Welcome to a brand new season of Roadrunner's baseball. I'm here to do one thing, and that's bring home a championship. We've been oh so close, but this time I anticipate getting it. We brought in another strong bat to our line up, and I think our pitching staff has what it takes to take control each and every outing. I think if we get the growth we need out of our young players, and the continued high level of production we expect out of our veterans, we can win it all. Does the media have any questions?"

Everyone is back, looking healthy. I think we're really be able to assess things in the preseason a bit more. Even though the report only shows Hennard taking to the training, it was more so that he looked to benefit the most from it.

"Yes, I was going to ask about that. I selected younger players to do the extra training, and most didn't rate too highly coking out of it. Why do you think that is? Did I have them work on things they were already strong at? Is it a work ethic thing? A talent thing? Or something else?"

Some might say it's kinda like a dice roll when it comes to training.

"Alright. Let's get ready for pre-season. I'd like to see a few things. We have access to all of our players, including our reserves right? I'd like to see Owens get 2 starts, and Weeks to get 1. Add them into the rotation as you see fit. We have 5 bench position players, and 5 reserve position players. I'd like to see both groups in the starting line-up for 3 games each. So our normal line-up will get 6 starts, our bench group gets 3 starts, and our reserve group gets 3 starts. Hopefully we can squeeze in extra substitutions and relief appearances during games too. Can I leave the details up to you to make sure that all the players in our organization get quality playing time, or do you need me to write out a more specific plan than that?"

1. Talk about how you feel spring training went. Who impressed you the most? Who did you feel under-performed?

"Spring training went well. I was really impressed by with what Tyler Layne was able to do with the bat. 3 home runs and 10 RBIs in just a handful of games is the type of production we'll need from him and others on the team if we are to get back to the championship series. As for under-performing, I'm not going to single anyone out, but these guys know that whether it's spring training, or a 6 game road stretch, that hitting under .200 is not going to cut it. We need to be putting the ball in play on every at-bat, and we need to capitalize on every swing."

2. Are you going to make any roster changes before the first series of the season?

"None. Our roster is set. At most we'll look at pitching match-ups day to day, but that's about it."

3. As the season gets underway, where do you project this team to finish in the standings?

"I don't see why we can't finish near the top, and compete for a championship again this season. Our goal is to win the Premier Cup. It's as simple as that."

4. Talk about your first opponent and the key to beating them in the three-game series.

"No one in this organization is all that fond of the Tokyo Pussy Cats, and that's no secret. I think we have the better bats, the better pitchers, and the better team. I think the key to this series is taking a lead into the late frames and letting Hernard and Capra close the door. Both are pretty unhittable when it gets down to it.

Any further questions?"

"Your team only had four home runs in spring training, three coming from one player. Is their any concern about a lack of power hitters to help this offense produce runs?"

"I'm not concerned at all. Spring training is weird. We had two guys get into double digits last season, and up and down the line-up guys were contributing home runs. Let's take Layne for an example, last season he only produced three home runs. If he keeps up this pace from spring training, he'll also get to double digits easy. I think we'll get right into form once the regular season starts. Any further questions?"
