We wanted to bring in a GM that has the knowledge that I lack. Some have called my decision risky, but I have faith in Franchise to do this franchise right. He's ready to burn rubber and leave everyone in the dust!

Anna, welcome to another great season of Aeros baseball and yes you are number one just like our team will be. Could you send in Manager Josh Alloco please, thank you.

---

Josh, pleasure to meet you. We're going to be working together to make this team into a champion. Going our roster we've got holes at a few positions but our pitching looks very solid. We might need to overhaul the reserve roster as well. What is your preference for building the team going forward, power hitting, power pitching, small ball, or a combination?

I favor power hitting and power pitching. Hit the ball out of the park and strike out the side. Best way to build a team.

Same here, we're on the same page with that. Just need to get the right talent that fits that and we're solid. What would you say are the strengths and weaknesses of our current roster?

While we have some good players scattered, we have quite a few holes to fill. Our biggest strength would be our relief bullpen. Our biggest weakness would be our starting pitching.

We’ll have to deal with that immediately. We need power pitchers. What other major  glaring holes do we need to fix? I want to get the problems fixed quickly so we can focus on our strengths.

Holes at catcher, third base, and outfield. Everything can't be fixed this offseason, but moving forward, we need to look there. Unless you're a magic man and can fix it now.

Got it. I’m not a magician but I’ll do what I can. Pitchers and outfield are the priorities. What’s your honest assessment about the rest of the coaching staff? Do they mesh well with what you have in mind for the team long term?

Sounds good to me. I've looked over the roster and we have a good set up here. The batting line up order and pitching line up order is going to be the key to making this work. The right order strategy for both and we have a power house here. Are there any players on our roster that you don't think are good fits for our system and might need to be moved or are we good as is with our current batting roster?

Sounds good to me. Are there any position battles that need to be focused on before the season begins? I think we’re good for the most part but our positions of weakness might need to be tweaked in the line up.

I'm thinking moving some of our reserve players up to the starting roster and switching them with our struggling players. Might solve some of our issues. Do you think that might be a long term solution to our weak positions or is it a short term solution that won't benefit us in the long run?

Sir, before I give you the team sheet, you have a call on the line.

Hello GM Franchise, I am Natasha Owens, assistant to Commissioner Quist. I am calling to inform you that according to your offseason roster sheet, you have gone over budget on your reserve roster by $500K. Because of this, you are fined $2.5MM on your reserve roster. You have until preseason lock-in to get back within budget. Good luck on the season and please be more careful in the future.

That did not sound good at all... nuh huh. Well, here is the team sheet.

"Hello everyone, my name is GM Franchise and I'd like to welcome you all to another fantastic season of Indianapolis Aeros baseball. I'm looking forward to seeing this team thrive and flourish in the upcoming season. We have fantastic talent all over the roster. Winning the Premier Cup is my main priority with this team. I think we can do it with the talent assembled on the roster currently. Winning the Division as well as winning our season series against Thunder Bay are also on our agenda for this season. I'm ultra confident in my team and I firmly believe that we can accomplish these goals. This is going to be a season of growth for this team that in my opinion will lead us to championship glory. Indianapolis will soar to heights it's never seen before this season and I guarantee that we will be a powerhouse for many seasons to come."

Before I make any moves, are there any players on the reserve roster who you feel are expendable or do not fit our system? Figured it'd be a logical move to ask your opinion before doing anything.

Hello GM Franchise, I sure was not expecting to talk to you again so quickly. According to league records, you locked in $2.5MM over reserve roster budget. We once again are forced to fine you another $2.5MM on your reserve roster budget. That means you will need to cut $5MM of reserve roster cap before re-locking in. If this happens again, the league punishment may be more severe. Please be careful.

Unfortunately it has GM Franchise.

You had a reserve roster budget of $5MM due to the $5MM of violation fees. Still on your reserve roster is Jorge Frias ($2.5MM), Casey McGurrin (500K), Nick Moses (3MM), Ben DeMell (250K), and Connor Schultz (250K). That equals $6.5MM total. That puts you $1.5MM over.

Your lack of following the simple instruction the league office has given you as forced the league's hand in handing out a more impactful punishment. You will lose next season's 2nd round draft pick as it will now be forfeited.

I would say be more careful, but you clearly do not care. Good day.

WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING SON? I'M THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE LEAGUE NOW! TELL ME WHY I SHOULD KEEP YOU AROUND!?

Sir, I apologize for all of this. It won’t happen again. I figured out the issue. I had an older version of our team sheet saved with it labeled as our current one that got saved over the current one and that’s what caused all of this. The information on it was outdated and I was going by that not realizing it wasn’t current. Deleted all the ones I had saved and re-saved all of them to avoid this happening again. Here’s why you should keep me around. I feel we can win with this roster. Despite all the screw ups and issues we’ll have cap space to work with next season and have  talent to build around. All I’ve got to do is move up a pitcher from the reserve roster and we’ll be fine. There will be no more screw ups this season. We will be winners. People might be laughing now but you’ll be the one who has the last laugh after everything is all said and done. That I promise you.

1. Talk about how you feel spring training went. Who impressed you the most? Who did you feel under-performed?

"I think it could've gone better overall was very successful. We had a few kinks but we'll work them out. Stotts and Hess were impressed me. Both had very good spring training series and I think will have great seasons this year. Stover had a rough time during spring training and struggled at times. However, that said, I think he'll have a great season. People are underestimating this team and I think that's going to be a big mistake on their part. Soon enough they'll find that out when they play us on the field."

2. Are you going to make any roster changes before the first series of the season?

"I don't think so. I feel the best option is to see how things pan out after the first series of games and then make adjustments for based on strategy or play on a series to series basis. It's all about exploiting the other team's weaknesses and hitting them hard at them. That's the approach I'm taking this season."

3. As the season gets underway, where do you project this team to finish in the standings?

"I feel we will finish first or second in the division as well as be a playoff team. We have a strong roster that I feel will get stronger as the season goes along. Once this roster gels it's going to be a force in this league, mark my words."

4. Talk about your first opponent and the key to beating them in the three-game series.

"Our first series is against Thunder Bay. They are deep at pitcher but they key against them will be to wear down those pitchers. Working the count against them as well as working the small ball game to get men on base and then going for power hits with those players on base will be key to winning. We need to get players on base and wear down their pitching staff. We do both and we can win against this team."

"As the season progresses, do you fear your lack of roster depth leaves you in a very vulnerable state?"

Not really. I think we will be good to go with what we have. We’ve got a lot of talent here and we’ll put it to good use as the season progresses. I’m very confident in this team that we are putting on the field and in the organization as a whole.

Definitely not but that’ll change once we get rolling. I think we’ve got a beast that’s just in slumber but when it wakes up everyone will be wishing it didn’t. Did anything strategy wise or batting order wise stand out in the spring training games?

I'd like Stotts to leadoff and also move Easter higher up the order.

We’ll make those changes. How is the pitching rotation looking? Do we need to make any adjustments to the pitching rotation or is it good as is?

I like it as is. Having a lefty in Remter in between two right handed starters is something that makes other teams have to potential adjust to.

Okay sounds good. I think we're ready to lock in. Here's the new batting order, I think it'll work out nicely.

vs. RHP
1. SS David Stotts
2. DH Lorenzo Garcia
3. 1B Rich Hess
4. C Jamel Easter
5. 2B Carlos Maldonaldo
6. CF Roger Scott
7. RF Brandon Gohl
8. LF David Allen
9. 3B Mike Perez

vs. LHP
1. SS David Stotts
2. DH Lorenzo Garcia
3. 1B Rich Hess
4. C Jamel Easter
5. 2B Carlos Maldonaldo
6. CF Roger Scott
7. RF Brandon Gohl
8. LF David Allen
9. 3B Mike Perez

Lock in.

1. Talk about opening week. What did you take away from it?

"Well it didn't go exactly as planned. It was a rough start but we have some things we can build around. Thunder Bay has a very explosive offense and they are a momentum team going by what I'm seeing. We will be ready for them when we play them again. It's all about strategies and tactics in this game."

2. Any news stories stick out to you this week?

"For starters Olson saying he approves of the Trump Wall definitely won't go over in Mexico City. That's not good PR for him or the team. London's pitching will be something to watch. Sounds like they got some monsters on the mound over there. For any inquiring minds Pizzolato is legit, just saying. Wolfe is going to be a megastar too. And for our story, the protesters need to relax. The season just started. When this team gets rolling and believe me it will, everyone will have a different tune about things. Like I've said before we're going to be a force going forward this season, mark my words."

3. Do you think there is PEDs in the game right now?

"Of course there are. The league should do random drug tests and find out who's doing them. It's not good for the game and anyone using them should be given immediate suspensions."

4. Talk about your opponent this week. What will you have to improve to take the series?

"This week we play San Diego who are 1-2. They are a team I feel strategically we match up well against. Haggar is going to be tough for us to face but if we rattle him we can get some momentum and psychologically break his confidence. Getting runs is going to be key. We get some runs and then let them play catch up instead of the other way around. That is what we need to do to avoid a repeat of the last series. I believe in this team and I believe we will win this series."

Yes it was. Thunder Bay have a powerful offense. However I think we’ll fare better this week against San Diego. Do we need to make any adjustments for this week’s series?

I don't want to make any rash changes based off a tough series sweep. Let's see how it goes against San Diego.
