Charleston Crawfish

Owner: Bill Fisher
Team Assistant: Ms. Belle

Team History:
Bill Fisher is the owner of the seafood restaurant empire Fisher Fish & Shrimp, but his first true love has always been sports.  After accumulating his fortune through his restaurants, Mr. Fisher decided to take his love of sports and started the Charleston Crawfish when the Supreme Basketball Alliance started.  The team has had moderate success through the first three seasons, but Mr. Fisher is ready for his team to become a championship contender.

Season 1: 24-18 (Conference Finals)
Season 2: 15-27
Season 3: 23-19

Listen up folks, I love the game of the game of basketball, but I love winning more.  We've had some success, but it's time to win a championship baby!!  The Crawfish are looking for a GM that is going to put together a powerhouse team for the foreseeable future.  If you think you're the person for the job then let me know!

Hello coach, it’s a pleasure to be working with you. I want to get down to brass tax. I have a few questions;

First, what are we working with on this team, Good and bad?

Second, do you think we can build around Robert Butler for his price tag?

Third, What is your offensive and defensive play calling scheme?

With our current players under contract there is a lot potential. Butler is our go to guy, he averaged 25.4 points a game last season so he is a scorer, no doubt about it.  At this point Lancaster is nothing more than a back-up.  He still needs to develop.  I like Brookins, he's young and still needs some training, but he had a decent season averaging 9.5 points and 7.8 rebounds.  I believe he can continue to be our starting power foward as he was last season.  Childress and Damaskinos both came off the bench last season, but I believe Childress can produce more than what he did, with more playing time.

I do believe we can build around Butler, we just need to make sure we get ourselves a point guard.

As for my scheme, I like a balance but tend to run a more up-tempo style on offense as well as defense.  I like to run our defense full court at times to try and pressure the other team into unforced errors.

So coach we have big decisions to make. Obviously you have been in the league and have your ear on the rail as far as talent goes. Do you think the draft class list is deep with talent or will we be better off scouting the available free agents for gems.

I wouldn't call this draft class deep, necessarily, but there are some good players in it.  There are some good free agents, including our restricted free agent point guard who we better re-sign.

Coach I want you too know I plan on creating a team based on clock management, defense and rebounding. I’m not sure if an up tempo pace will work for the type of players I am interested in acquiring. I want to know your take. Will you be able to adjust. I have no interest in playing an up tempo pace. This team has not done well so it needs a different direction. A new look and feel and it needs a new identity. I don’t want to waist your time and I don’t  want you to be part of a rebuilding that doesn’t fit your coaching style.

I have to say GM Lucas, your reputation precedes you.  Our first conversation and you're already trying to blow things up.  23-19 wasn't terrible and I wouldn't call us a rebuilding team unless you plan on gutting the roster completely.  I digress, I don't run an all up-tempo offense.  I run a balanced offense, but understand when we need to speed things up.  With that being said, Coach Patten and Coach Maddox are two of the best defensive coaches in the league, which is why they are on my staff, but you wouldn't know that because you didn't care to ask about our staff.

You are right and I apologize. My intentions are not to dismantle but to rebrand. I should have talked to the other coaches. I guess I was trying to get a feel for how things went around here from one voice when I should have gotten  input from everyone. It seems like this is a tight staff. I want to be upfront and forthcoming with you on how I see myself choosing players. Your information has been immensely helpful and I would like To continue moving forward.  I guess I’ll start with calling in the other coaches. Thank you coach, I’m not above being given a lesson in humility. I have a tendency at times to move faster than my feet can go and I have to be slown down.

No sweat, sir.  It's a new landscape for all of us so just trying to figure things out, I get it.  For the record, I didn't mean you had to speak to every coach individually, just that you didn't ask me about our staff overall.  Just what type of schemes we run.  Either way, it's water under the bridge.  Let's focus on this re-branding.

That's very helpful coach. Coach, few more questions before i let you go,

First, what was our biggest weakness last season?

Second, Though I want to focus on rebounding and defense your experience in this league is what is going to get us over the hump.  I want players that are able to turn it up etiher starting or coming off the bench. So, besides the obvious in resigning Brookhart, what RFA you would like us to make a run at?

Rebounding and our three-point shooting.  We definitely need to get better on that front.  Chris Watson is definitely worth bringing back.  Mario Norwood and Alvin Hayes should be considered as well.

Ok coach I'm going to let you get draft ready while I speak to the other coaches

---

Ms. Belle can you call in the rest of the coaches please so we can start moving forward and getting ready for the draft

----

Coaches, I am Xavier Lucas, I am pleased to be here and I have had extensive talks with coach Kerlin about the structure of this team and player assessment. A little about my vision for this team. I want us to focus on defense, rebounding and clock management. I want guards that can open up lanes and create shots for other players. I want my bigs to be quick but extremely tough. I want the other team to think not twice but three times before the decide to drive that lane. Our bigs don't have to be the best shooters, just have a strong low post game and be able to block out and post up. I see our outside scoring coming from our guards. I'm old school and I would rather win a game 72-69 than 110 to107. Now, that is a little about my expectations for this team. If you could each introduce yourself, tell me a little about yourself and explain to me your strength as coach, I want to make sure we are all on the same page going into the draft and I want to get players that works within our system.

Excellent, we just acquired the rights to Jeremy Pepers. Please get me his agent

------

Good evening, first let me say I am excited to be able to sign your client. As you know, we gave up a lot to bring him here so I hope we can come to terms. Just to make sure both camps walk away satisfied with this deal I'll make two offers and you choose, I'm looking at either;

3 years 6MM with1MM PR

or

4 years 4.5MM with 1.5M PR.

Obviously one has more cash but less years and one has more PR money with more years. Which would your client be happier with.

MS. Belle can you send in the coach Waldrop
---

Coach, I need two pieces of information before I send in all the paper work,

First, with the talent on our team, what offense and defense do you see us running.

Second, who do you like as a 6th man, I am torn between our two rookies, Quentin Archie and Billy Nichols

Finally, in your estimation, who are our top five players from a coaching stand point.

We'd run a motion offense with pushing the tempo as the game progresses.  On defense, straight up man-to-man.

I don't think either Archie or Nichols is 6th man material, not now at least, but if I had to choose I would go with Nichols.

Brookhart, Butler, Watson, Seymore, and Childress
