BREAKING NEWS: HARVEY SPECTER PURCHASES RIGHTS, RESTARTS SBA

Charlotte, NC. -- Big shot lawyer Harvey Specter, managing partner at the mega firm Pearson-Specter, purchased the rights to the Supreme Basketball Association upon their filing for bankruptcy three years.  An avid basketball fan, Specter jumped at the opportunity to buy the rights to the league for pennies on the dollar in bankruptcy court.

Famous for his penchant for winning and his hate of losing, Specter stripped the league down to it's bare bones, getting rid of the previous franchises, but he elected to keep the league name the same.  The revamped SBA has 12 new franchises that have been competing for three seasons and now enter season number four where general managers will be hired to run each franchise.  Word is already circulating that Specter wants to expand at the end of the upcoming season if all goes well and the fan support is there.

There are more details scheduled to come out over the coming days from the league office, however Specter has given teams permission to start the hiring process for general managers.

BREAKING NEWS: Rookie Scouting Combine on the Horizon

Charlotte, NC. -- All 12 SBA organizations now have general managers and the next phase of the upcoming season is set to begin.  The rookie scouting combine is set to take place next week.  Due to the general managers just coming aboard, the league is allowing each team to attend the combine for free.  Part of the package will include 5 individual rookie workouts. Any additional workouts will be at the expense of the organizations.  The league office is set to release the official names of the rookie class on this upcoming Friday.

BREAKING NEWS: ALREADY?!?!?!.....

Charlotte, NC. -- It appears that no matter what league it is, MATHGATE is a pandemic like no other that stretches across the sports world.  The SBA is currently running the scouting combine and a general manager has already run amok of the SBA's financial regulations.  GM Black Death has gone over his bonus pool allotment and my sources tell me that Nigel Falls is not happy....at all.  In fact, he's considering firing the general manager before the season has even started.

BREAKING NEWS: BUCKAROOS FANS ARE PUMPED!

Sioux Falls, SD. -- Despite trading away the first pick of the draft, the city of Sioux Falls and their fans are buzzing with excitement after GM Kai Hood has made several trades that have brought in players and a multitude of picks.  Once a team not expected to make much noise in Season 4, the fans believe otherwise and have praised GM Hood's moves.  Only time will tell if they pay off.

BREAKING NEWS: League Announces Rookie Salary Scale

Charlotte, NC. -- Commissioner Specter has officially announced a rookie salary scale for the upcoming draft class, a scale that the league worked directly with the SBAPA to create.  The Commissioner had this to say...

"The league realizes that the current salary proportions are a little out of control across the board.  We admit that our teams paid some high prices when the league rebooted to help attract players.  We are most appreciative that the SBAPA realized this as well and worked with us to come to an agreement on working to curve the large salaries, beginning with the Season 4 draft class.  It is this type of collaboration between the league and our players that has me excited about our future."

The scale is as follows:

Picks 1-3: $6 million
Picks 4-6: $5 million
Picks 7-9: $4 million
Picks 10-12: $3 million
Picks 13-15: $2 million
Picks 16-18: $1 million
Picks 19-24: $500,000

Furthermore, all first round pick contracts will be for three years while second round will be two years in lenght.

BREAKING NEWS: Pineapple in Tears as GM Oldfield Disrespects the Waves Organization....

Charlotte, NC. -- It is no secret that Pineapple McLoo has gone through some traumatic situations in the basketball universe and it appears as though she has been thrown into chaos once again.  General Manager Keith Oldfield has sent a shock wave through the Los Angeles organization when he submitted the contracts of the two rookies he drafted to the league office.  According to my sources, the contracts listed the team as Low Angeles.....instead of Los Angeles.  The gaffe is said to have sent Pineapple into a frenzy and an eventual nervous breakdown that included a lake full of tears.  Owner OJ McLoo is said to be livid that GM Oldfield has triggered his daughter's PTSD.

To make matters worse, the fans are calling for GM Oldfield to be fired as they believe this was no mistake and that he feels Los Angeles is lowly scum of the Earth.

BREAKING NEWS: Late Night Negotiations Bring Financial Changes to the SBA!

Charlotte, NC - Commissioner Harvey Specter has been hard at work to expand the financial influence of the SBA and has announced a deal to bring in new revenue source to the league. Via the Shackpot! hedge fund, run in-part by basketball legend Redford Shack, a new revenue and profit sharing agreement was made between the owners and players' association after a week long negotiation session that went late into the night. Both the owners and players had made demands on how the new revenue would be split. Among some of the demands include a pension plan for players with at least three years of service time, and a 55/45% split on all official player merchandise between the owners and the players.

Teams will also be granted new financial flexibility under the agreement. The hard salary cap will be increased by five million dollars ($5M), effective immediately, bringing the salary cap to $105 Million for the 2020 Season. Furthermore, teams will be given a soft cap bonus pool of which is eligible to be spent on players, coaches, and other team expenditures. That figure will remain at twenty million ($20M), but owners do have discretion whether to allocate more or less funds to that figure. Finally, the max contract system has been replaced. Instead of a hard $22 Million figure set for the first couple of seasons, the max contract will be tied to the salary cap at 32%. That means for the 2020 season, the max salary for players will be $34 million. This figure applies to both the base salary and bonus pool money given to players. Contracts must not exceed a total value of $34 Million for the 2020 season. The max contract of 32% will be based on the salary cap of each league year, which means teams will have to be prudent when keeping track of their salary cap figures.

This news is certain to send shock waves through the SBA, as teams look to have a little more flexibility in filling out their rosters. Still, reports are that agents will be eyeing the new Max Contract for their star clients. An anonymous source has said that Dwayne "Swaggy D" Swagger is already telling his top players to holdout for max contracts prior to the start of the 2020 season.

This new revenue stream is not without controversy. Las Vegas Aces Owner Nigel Falls is a minority investor in the Shackpot! hedge fund. A spokesperson for the Aces have said that Nigel Falls was not involved in the hedge funds decision to invest in the SBA, but also that he has not committed to divesting from the hedge fund as a conflict of interest. Critics are worried that Nigel Falls spearheaded this move in response to GM Black Death of the Las Vegas Aces nearly violating the league's salary cap rules.

BREAKING NEWS: DeLord & Kapono Entering Free Agency?

Charlotte, NC - Reports have leaked that two players from the Season 4 draft class have petitioned the league office to become free agents after nearly two weeks of silence since the draft from the teams that drafted them. A spokesperson for Krease McCool, representation for Robert Kapono, confirmed the report. The source stated that "Kapono was already drafted lower than a player of his talent should have been drafted, and that if Memphis isn't in a hurry to offer him the contract he is owed, than we aren't in a hurry to accept 2nd round money when teams will offer 1st round money if given the chance."

A statement by Linda Washington, the representation for Jacob DeLord followed simply stating "if the Delaware organization has changed their mind on Jacob, we would much prefer to be given a fair chance at unrestricted free agency rather than be held hostage by the organization". Washington also warned that "if the SBA General Managers aren't going to respect our players, then we will take our concerns to the league office and player's association."

Additionally, we have yet to receive a statement from second overall pick Kevin Jones, who also remains without a contract, but he too could seek free agency. Seventh overall pick Andre Ware, also unsigned has not released a statement either. If either of these players were to hit the open market, not only could they land big free agent deals, but it could put the rookie wage scale in jeopardy entirely if a number of drafted rookies go unsigned.

Neither Memphis or Delaware have put out public statements at this time. It is expected that if these teams do not work out a deal with their rookie draftees that Commissioner Specter is willing to grant the petitions of both Kapono and DeLord at the start of unrestricted free agency in order to appease the Player's Association. The fanbases of both Delaware and Memphis are said to be very unhappy with these reports and petitions are already circulating to have the General Managers fired.

BREAKING NEWS: Wilson Returns to Boston!

Charlotte, NC - One of the SBA's best -- if not the best -- point guard is returning to the Boston Irish.  Restricted free agent Willie Wilson, who received an embarrassing offer from Canton according to my sources, has agreed to a new deal that is for four years and worth $24 million per season.  General Manager Adam Wrong wasted no time reaching out to Willie and letting him know he wanted the point guard back and wanted to prove how bad he wanted Willie by fully guaranteeing the contract.

BREAKING NEWS: Gentry Shocks The Sports World, Rejects Max Offer To Stay In Delaware, But Wants A Raise!

Charlotte, NC - Romain Gentry has shocked the sports world today by rejecting a max contract offer that would have paid him $34 million this season, to remain in Delaware on the qualifying offer.  My sources tell me that Rio Grande was the team that offered the max contract and Romain was super impressed with the pitch from GM Percy Waters, but feels like the team isn't ready to win just yet.  As I reported earlier, Gentry fired agent Colin O'Reilly and hired Krease McCool and my sources say that O'Reilly was encouraging Romain to take the deal even though winning is Romain's biggest priority.  Romain felt that O'Reilly was just looking out for himself and his commission that he would receive on the deal.

According to my sources, McCool, a former player, understands Romain's mindset and encouraged the center to return to Delaware and become an unrestricted free agent next year when more teams will be able to bid for his services.  However, those same sources told me that Romain is wanting a pay raise from Delaware this year or he would consider sitting out the season.

BREAKING NEWS: Quiet Free Agent Market?

Charlotte, NC - The SBA offseason has moved to the unrestricted free agency portion of the calendar, but my sources are telling me things have been quiet for the most part.  Roughly half of the teams have even made contact with players and their agents and word is that the big name players are not seeing much traction.

BREAKING NEWS: DeLord & Ware Are Free Agents!

Charlotte, NC - It has been rumbling since the draft that some unsigned players were ready to petition Commissioner Specter for free agent status. Memphis was able to come to agreement with their unsigned free agents, but Delaware was unable to as the first day of free agency came to a close. Two drafted but unsigned rookies, Andre Ware and Jacob DeLord. They have been granted Undrafted Free Agent status and are free to negotiate with other teams starting on Day 3 of free agency.

Linda Washington released a statement on behalf of Jacob DeLord, a point guard taken in the second round by Delaware. It said that "they are pleased that the Commissioner granted DeLord a fair shot at his dream of playing for an SBA team. We will be happy to negotiate with any team for DeLord's services, but we will not accept a contract less than what he would have earned had Delaware signed him." It will be interesting to see what happens with DeLord.

A spokesperson for Andre Ware, the seventh overall pick in this draft class also released a statement. "We are disappointed that Delaware changed their mind on bringing Ware to the organization. As Ware is undoubtedly the top player in this draft class, we are expecting to talk to teams about competitive offers only for a player of Andre's caliber."

When asked if he would still entertain signing with Delaware, the spokesperson for Linda Washington said that "all we know right now is that Jacob is not signing with Delaware." The spokesperson for Andre Ware did not indicate whether he too was shutting Delaware out of the process, but it is believed that Ware would still be willing to join the Delaware organization as long as they paid him what he deserved, and made him the star of the franchise.

Already several teams have inquired about the availability of both these players, so it is only a matter of time before they are signed. Meanwhile GM Rebel is said to be in hot water in Delaware, and with his failure to sign his draft picks and a quiet start to free agency, is one wrong move away from losing his job. The ongoing contract negotiations with star Romain Gentry could be the tipping point for GM Rebel's job. Meanwhile, the SBA Player's Association is said to be keeping a close eye on what Ware and DeLord ultimately sign for, as they look to perhaps challenge the draft structure of the SBA.
